I just purchased this game today, but I am already excited about playing it again. I've made it through the first 2 missions, and have to go to work tommorow, but I think I might have a problem.

The controls are easy to grasp...much easier than it was on PC. The graphics are great, and they have made some changes so you have to earn different items in the game.

If you're looking for a new game, I definately reccomend this one if you're in to the shooter-style games. Highly reccomended!

Really Fun being Delta and Rangers.

The games single player is cool and you can do co-op and go 4 player. When you go online though, it's awsome. You get to choose to be an Assualt soldier, Medic, Machine Gunner, or a Sniper. All the guys have different stuff and equipment. 32 players is like a huge battle. If you get shot down, in other games, they would mark you as dead, even if you got shot in the foot. In online, you can be saved by a medic and put right back where you were shot. But they keep the life savings realistic. If you get shot in the head, your autimatically dead. I heard you can also fly on Black Hawks! But I have yet to see one online, but, I just got the game. The life saving online brings the message clearer "LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND". Overall, I think this is a really good game.

Sorry BigMike, but you obviously do not know what a good war game is. I am a SOCOM 2 player, and I rented this thinking it may have been better. Boy was I wrong! Here, let me go through the game for you:

Graphics: 2.5/5 The graphics are blocky, cheap, and overall very bad. For a war game, I'd expect a game with better graphics than this. And I also hated this: the WHOLE GAME all you SEE is beige. Beige uniforms, beige sand, beige buildings, EVERYTHING is beige. Ahh.. drived me nuts.

Sound: 3/5 The sound is not TOO bad. Good: when there are guys talking over the com-link, it sounds pretty good, but it's also very quiet when compared to whats going on around you. Bad: every guy you kill makes similar noises over and over again: Ahh! Augh! Ow! and wow is it annoying.

Control: 3/5 Can't get much easier to control. X to get in/on/behind something, R1 to shoot, O to prone, crouch, or stand, and X to jump when in the middle of nowhere. ( which is where you are most of the time anyways. ) Very easy controls, but also pretty clunky and unresponsive at times. ( the menu. )

Fun: 2/5 This game is just NOT fun. One shot kills anyone, there is no recoil, and the game is just overall repetetive, repetetive, REPETETIVE... If you like first person shooters, I might tell you to buy this game, if it was good. If you like 3rd person shooters, buy SOCOM 1, 2, or wait for 3.

Help!

For those of you who already have this game, can you tell me if it's worth the money. I can go online with it but, I don't know if it's worth $50. So, should I buy or wait for Socom 3?

I bought this game for $50.00 it was really exiting and really made you feal like you were in somalia (africa) but when i played it i fond out that on the 2nd day i beat it beacuse thier was no more campain and the instant action was only for the missions i had already beat. the multiplayer mode was for areas that wernt even in somalie it looked like i was fightng in a place that didn't exist on earth. if you are going to by this you are wasting your money and time. thier are plenty of other things that you can spend the 50 bucks on. DON'T BUY!!!!!

Great Movement from PC to PS2

This game is great! They did a great job transfering this from PC to PS2. I wish, though, there were more levels. But I love it to play co-op. Whenever my Friend comes over, we play this game and it is great! I love the 4 player arena. Whenever I have more than two people here, we go 3-4 players and we go all out. Great Game. I wish the Delta Force series is made more for PS2.

THE BEST SHOOTER YET!

I had sooooooooooooooo much fun playing this game! If you have a network adaptor, your in business. You can choose to be a Medic to heal people, A Assult solidier whose on the front lines, A Sniper who is sweet from above, or a Machine Gunner to lay down fire while men advance. I would say this is going to be a GREATEST HIT!

Good Multiplayer, Single player is not worth it

The single player is horrible; I did not even want to play past the second level.
The multiplayer online was decent, however, it comes nowhere close to the standard in online shooters, Socom 2. I don't understand why other game companies can't take some good ideas from Socom and use it in their games. This game would be really good if it had online clans and a good friends list, but for some reason the developers didn't think of having that. IMO if they had those features, the game would be right up there with Socom.
The maps on the multiplayer are very big and are really interesting. You can get into almost every building on every map. There are many maps to choose from, I think 23. There are four different roles that the players can choose to be.
Rent this game...don't buy it.

Not as BAD as they say; but no too GOOD either.

While everybody is complaining about the single player mode, I find it quite decent. The missions are exactly like the PC version. Graphics is upgraded a bit but not as nice as the really good shooters for the PS2. The game is a good blend of sniping and close quarters battle with lots of targets to shoot at. It also has some points where you mount machine guns on Blackhawks and Humvee's. Problem is, sniping was fun in the PC because of the mouse interface but this time it may be a bit harder (some people might not like this).

What's new now (compared to the PC version) is that you can command your squad mates. No more health packs and extra ammo packs lying around the map. This time, you must call your squad mates to heal you or give you ammo. If they die, the less times you can heal and replenish your ammo. Also new is the upgrade system. You can upgrade skills and weapons through 'stars' that you earn through missions. Better performance gives you more 'stars'. And it's not that easy to execute a perfect mission.

I guess what sets this game apart from the others is the vast environment. I don't care if they say that the buildings are blocky and repititive and the textures are bland. I like the fact that the maps are really large.

Pros:
Same gameplay from the PC version.
Large maps.
Upgrade system.
Squad commands (not as good as Brothers in Arms but a welcome addition to the series)

Cons:
Dated graphics (better than the PC version but not at par).
Long range firefights are more difficult compared to the mouse-controlled PC version.
Nothing really uniqe and revolutionary in this game that will definitely set it apart from the rest.

I guess people give this a low rating because they expected so much from the game. By far, I think this game is just AVERAGE.
