If Icewind Dale 2 is as good as the original game, then we have a lot to look forward too. I spent many hours of my life on the original game, the expansion: Heart of Winter, and the downloadable expansion: Trials of the Luremaster.
Icewind Dale 2 is looking to be a really good game because the graphics have been improved and they have switched to the third edition Dungeons and Dragons rules. I just recently finished Pool of Radiance (which isn't that great if you haven't played it) and hope Icewind Dale 2 can way up and above what Pool of Radiance did.
Overall, this game is going to be great and I'll be one of the first ones with a copy!
would actually like to give it 41/2 stars

Because I have one minor problem with this game, it takes place before the events in the prequel and so you cannot import your old team (all six of which I have a long history with, especially Brydgette Shia'ai my sword and bow master, who later became a mage who I wanted to make a ranger/sorceror under the new system). The previous game, and this one, combined the party and story strength of Baldur's Gate (I&II) with the hack and slash simplicity of Diablo. It also improved on Baldur, in that it was the perfect length (took me a week and a half too win) level-ups happen regularly (BG took weeks before any character went up), loads of unique magic items to truly perfect your characters, and was simply so memorable and atmospheric that I still remember this one and compare it too most games I play.

I like iwd2 more than nwn, although both are great. iwd2 is more complex, which to me, is more fun. I like playing six people at once instead of just one, wish it allowed 7 or 8.
IceWind Dale II is best! And R. A Salvatore is best!

The role is good. The character cration is fun. The graphics Suck!!! All the other playas say who cares about the graphics. But i still say it sucks up alot of fun out of da game. If the person who helped make it was reading it Id tell him the resason the grpahics were award winning was because the Baulders gate which first used them came out along time ago when grpahics sucked and thats when the got the award. the graphics are gettign outdated fast. But the game play is still fun. You jsut gotta try inoring the fact the graphics suck thou. I prefer Dungeon Siege, Everquest, World of warcraft, and Everquest II. So much more fun.
Nice...

From the start of this game to the end, Icould barley leave the computer seat. This is such a good game and such a good sequel that Iwould recommend it to anyone appreciates RPG's. After about 2 hours of playing BG2 and still being in the same damn dungeon I decided to move on to a better, more action packed game. Icewind Dale 2 is just that and more. I love the choices you can make in race and class and the variety of skills and feats you can obtain to make the game more exciting. So go out and buy Icewind Dale 2!

When comparing various titles of the same genre, you quickly see that Icewind Dale 1 & 2 are truly what games like Baldur's Gate and Planescape are supposed to be like. Not only are players able to construct an entire party of their own design, but the pause feature allows players to execute a variety of commands at their own pace. Not only does this keep play interesting, but it also allows for a much higher survivability of your characters, since you can plan your tactics at your own pace. A truly breath-taking, eye-opening experience.

!!I LOVE THIS GAME!!
My favorite part is the combat because it isn't turn-based
like some RPGs. I also like the character design options
when you start. the game gives you some already made or
you can make your own to fit how you want to play through
the game. I think this game is great with good enough grapics
for most people, plenty of quests, lots of little beasties, and enough action to keep you on your toes.:)
