The BEST PS2 game!

This game in the DDR series is such a great addition! People of all ages will enjoy playing!

So what's to like about this game? First, there's a ton of different songs to choose from. You have your typical DDR Japanese songs. Some are sort of weird but each of them are very fun to play. You have your "oldies" songs so that adults from the 70s and 80s will have songs that they will enjoy dancing to. And then you have your more recent songs so that younger kids and teens will have songs they they enjoy. It's an eclectic group of songs. Second, there are different levels of play. I like to play the "Basic" level but I have a cousin who has difficulty getting the dance moves right so I put him on "Easy". You can have two different difficulties of play for two different people for the same song which will make it fair for, say, an adult and a young kid to play. Third, there are different ways to play. You can play the traditional way. You can play the exercise way (where it lets you know how many calories you've burned). You can play the 3 round way. There are a lot of options with this game.

What's not to like? Not much. The price may be a bit high for some people but for the amount of play you'll be getting out of it, price shouldn't be an option.

I got this as an early Christmas gift last year and when my entire family came over on Christmas day, we played this for a good few hours. When you have get-togethers, instead of bringing out the traditional board game, try this instead. The entire family will LOVE it!

Not bad, but still a step back

I've played various PS2 DDR games nearly daily for years (as enjoyable exercise, 3-6 hours weekly), and was looking forward to another set of songs to put into my cycle. I unlocked all the songs and played through all of them that I could a number of times. Ultimately, I've had to put Supernova to the side, and I don't play it anymore.

There are two problems - the main one is that a lot of the songs are slow, and while the associated steps may be complicated, this merely makes them hard, rather than good exercise (as opposed to something like Hysteria, from DDR Max 2, which is perfect). The second is that it's no longer possible to quickly pass through the scoring screen, so there's a longer pause between songs. It's not as bad as In The Groove (which was awful), but it is long enough to get in way of good exercise.

My favorite offering so far is still DDR Extreme 2, although I cycle through DDR Max, DDR Max 2, and DDR Extreme as well.

Great Game

This is worth the money. This game is sooo much fun...its addicting!
I was not that good at it at the beginning, but with a little practice I am getting better. The songs are great. I already have favorites that I really like.
1.since you been gone by kelly clarkson
2. centerfold by captian jack
3.funkytown
4.girls just wanna have fun
5. heavan is a place on earth
6. DOLL by TERRA
and so manny more songs. THe songs give you a challenge mostly. Workout mode is also a lot of fun. You can do songs on challenge and its impossible to fail, so you can loss wait without leaving the house and have fun at the same time! You can multiplayer and when my friends come over we have so much fun going against each other! This is a great game overall and is definitly worth the money!

Awesome!

This game rocks! I play at the difficult level, and I love this game! There are some songs that I like that are not on this version of ddr though, such as SAKURA, CARTOON HEROES, and FIREFLY. Supernova has a large variety of music, a shop to buy chracters, arrows, songs, courses, stages, and other stuff. I suggest buying this game even if you hate dancing like me!

Here's my advice: It's not fun unless you try the harder levels!

Best DDR Yet!

I have all of the DDRs that there are for Play Station 2. This is my favorite version yet. Here are a list of my favorite songs-
~True Love
~Since You've Been Gone
~Curus
~Video Killed the Radio Star

There are lots of good songs, so if you're planning on getting DDR and don't know which version to buy, get this one!

I'd give it more stars!!!!!!!!!!!!.. if possible

This game rocks! The only thing though is my mats. Thats not the games fault(the mats fault). I'm getting so good. The songs sounds live and there are some music videos like Dance Dance. The only thing is each levels are totally different. I did Mugan on basic, it was so easy difficult, and I failed, even my sister ( who's so so good at the game). But still that didn't stop me. I'm only nine and this game seems easy alot (basic not difficult). If you get this game don't be suprised if your kid is addicted I know I am! Tip ( if your going to a different level do funkytown it's the easiest song in the whole game). I guess what I'm trying to say is this game is so good it's scary ( in a good way). Failing a song will get you so mad you just want to scream. But don't let that get to you. When you get a better score then you ever did you will feel amazing. Well I guess I said way way to much I don't want to boared you but still, PLEASE BY THIS GAME IT ROCKS!

Good game, but others are better

I recieved Supernova for Christmas. I already owned DDR Revolutions Extreme 2, and I was excited to try out the new game. I was very dissapointed in the backgrounds. Most of the songs have a colored stage with a random person dancing on it. The stage sucks, and you don't get to choose the person dancing.
Dance Master mode is kind of fun, but I still prefer Extreme 2's version. In this version you dance through several tasks, and when you finish enough, you can go to the showdown. In that you have to complete a certain number of tasks (2 out of 3, 4 out of 5, etc.). If you complete them you get a VIP card, and you can go to other planets. Getting cards gets you songs in the shop. One very noticible bonus was the ability to have two players in dance master mode. You can play with friends and get new songs.
I think that there are too many slow songs on Supernova. I prefer songs at about 135-165 beats. Way too many of the songs had less than 120.
A new feature is the buying of arrows. If you buy, for example, the hawk arrows, then all of the songs you will dance in any of the songs will have hawk arrows. Downside is that you have to go buy back your original arrows if you want them.
I think that supernova would be best for someone who is just starting out. It has a good tutorial, and the dance master mode is designed to help people understand how to play DDR.
Another con for me is that the that there aren't any A stars anymore. Instead of a star, there are two cirlces that rotate around the A. I dunno, I just don't thing that "A circle" is as good as "A star".

Good but not the best DDR

I just got this game and although it is very fun I was a little dissappointed. I have been playing DDR Max 2 for several months and wanted a change so I picked up supernova, it's fun but I passed about half the songs on difficult on the first try, expert is going to take some time because it's a huge step in difficulty from difficult to expert. DDR Max 2 seems to be more about speed and supernova is slower and (atleast on expert) seems to be more about difficult timing steps.

I still recommend it but only gave it 4 stars because I prefer DDR Max 2.

Holy...........

I played this in the arcade like a lot of other people have already and OMG! Unlike other versions, except ddr extreme, this has the BIGGEST song library to be introduced. It took me 20 seconds to wheel the screen down. That can only mean one thing: almost every song from every ddr version is in it. If you want to get them all to play every song, just get this. You will save a lot of money. This is absolutely a must buy.

FUN FOR ALL!

I bought this game to use at work (I work in childcare with school-age children). They have a blast. It is simple to figure out and is much easier for the children to use without having to be constantly helped out. It is probably the best version of the game for children to use!
