I researched the DDR titles for my daughter, age 8, as a birthday gift and decided on another after I could not get this one in time. Later, when she was frustrated that the one I purchased was not as much fun as those she played elsewhere, I came back and ordered this one for her. YOU SHOULD SEE HER NOW!
She can really do these dances! And they are not easy kid stuff either! The songs are more curent and the moves are better than the original one I purchased. She has this constantly hooked up to the playstation, and uses it so often I had to get another gaming system just so my son could play some of his games. Finally, a video game that gets kids moving and increases skills and athleticism while they play! We love this game!

OK, so I went over my friend's house a few weeks ago and he said that he had DDR. I've played different ones like MAX 2 before, but never Extreme. So I get on the dance pad and start to play with him, and immediatley, I was hooked. Although I stunk, I kept playing more and my friend gave me tips so i got better. And just like that, I loved DDR. The songs are extremley catchy,I find myself humming them all the time. It's also really fun to do with friends. The different kinds of modes you can do make it more fun, with more things to keep you occupied. Last but not least, it's a good and actually a FUN way to exercise. I know, kids saying the words exercise and fun in the same sentence is unusal, but it's true. This and Extreme 2 have got me hooked. Unfortunately, I have to wait and see if my mom got me this for Christmas, it's gonna be a long wait but it's worth it, BECAUSE I LOVE IT, AND SO WILL YOU.

Some things don't get better with age...

DDR Extreme is all wrong. Most songs aren't even moderately challenging, even on heavy mode. The workout mode makes no sense to me; it will track your calories but you still have to play in game mode. This means that every 3 songs, you have to go through the whole loading process again. In DDR Max 2 the workout mode is different...you can play 400 songs if you want, without starting over. The nonstop mode is also frustrating as you can't customize it. That means you might start with a song on light mode, 1x even though you want to play heavy mode 2x.
Also, the new song engine is awkward but I could deal with it were the songs worth playing.

I agree with the person that said this is basically a waste of $40. I've had the game since its release and I've played it about 3 times; it frustrates me and I go back to Max2.

the way this game is set up is extremely lame. if you loved ddr max and even more so ddr max 2 you're going to hate this. the songs suck, the layout sucks, this game SUCKS. the only thing cool is it makes a graph of your weight vs how many calories you burn each time you play. it's not worth it. a pure waste of 40 dollars.

I recommend this game for people who love to dance, are active and like music. You`ll enjoy either playing with a friend, starting a workout diary and much more! There`s some really cool songs like move your feet, y.m.c.a, and only you. Practice to master ddr. Keep cool, don`t jump around on the mat on fast songs, just practice one foot at a time like i did. You can also use the controller on 2 player but its best to use the mat.Maybe you could practice with the controller first to get the hang of the game. I hope you purchase this really cool game (don`t forget the mat!!!) and enjoy it!

DDR extreme is honestly the best game that i have ever played. It seriously is. My favorite songs are 321STARS and kick the can.. just because they rock. Other songs i like are Maximiser, Drop out, and B4U. I rate this game 5 stars and i mean it. I also have DDRMAX which also rocks.

Many People (including myself.) love Dance Dance Revolution Alot!!! Some people go as far as to do nothing else but strut their stuff for this game. But DDR Extreme while tring to make a better game loses something very good. Long gone are the vertical scroll menus and are replaced with a supposedly easier menu. Konami made the menus easy for beginers, but experts will fumble around a while looking for a hard song. The color system for the songs are non existnt and you have to enter two or more menus to get to a song. This does make difficulty selection a bit easier because now you select the difficulty before the song. So those who didn't like double tapping the up and down arrows to select diffculty will be relived.
Oh yeah the songs are sometimes a level off when it comes to dif. a song that is 7 dif. will probally be a 6 or 8. The songs ARE NOT THAT GOOD!!! for every good song like Tusagaru (sorry for the misprint.) there are 10 song that are not good. Instead of party mode, they should have put more songs on there. My advice: wait until next year, Buy the Japanesse version if you have an import PS2, play at the arcade, or play last year's edition (which is probally the best version.)
Die hard fans and newbies will love it, the rest of us, just walk away slowly. Very, Very, Slowly!! (P.S. I'm Not a kid and no i'm am not a adult either.)

THIS GAME IS FLIPPING SWEET!!you can dance to some of your favorite song along with some pop stuff like brittany spears. in this game you can also do story mode wich allows you to do some cool little games and stuff.
