This game is what every RPG should be: full of adventure, a great story line, and a vast arsenal of weapons and spells for you to help create the ultimate character. The character creation is very in depth; giving you total control on how you want your character to perform. The controls are easy to use, and best of all it's challenging. I highly recommend this game to anyone in love with RPGs
Do Not Bother - Worse Than Terrible

Do yourself a favor - play Diablo 2 instead of wasting your money on this absolutely worthless, frustrating, terrible game. Yes, it may be 3D, but the character control is show-stopper terrible - unplayable - especially in combat.
Also, regardless of how many people are playing together, there is only ONE main prize-weapon. This has two game-ruining effects - first, only ONE player in the team gets rewarded FOR THE ENTIRE QUEST!!!! Second, because everyone knows this, at the End-Main-Battle, no one is trying to defeat the boss, but rather are all fighting each other for the main prize weapon.
Stupid story, blah 3D graphics, show-stopping game quirks, horrible interface. Gaming does not get any worse than this - avoid at all costs!!!
Addictive!

There is a lot of fun in this game. If you do RPG D&D then the rules for character design will be very familar to you; in fact, I say ignore the recommendations as you level up and create an even more unique character. There are a few problems. First, you really need a G4 or faster computer. Second there are places where hencemen and companions seem to get stuck and require minutes of attention. Third the game is really designed for a two button mouse but standard Mac mice have only one button. Finally the picture you chose doesn't change with the individualization you can create for your character. Overall it is a very addictive game to play. Do your homework or bill paying first!
Great, but not so expansive.

This game has an immersive plotline with several subplots. It plays like reading a good book or watching a good movie, only it's interactive. It is quite versitile and open in that you can use single-player characters in multiplayer, but restrictive in that ultimately, there's only one or two paths to follow. That goes for plotline, character development, and even the equipment you use. This is as much fun as real Dungeons and Dragons as far as adventuring goes, but I'd still rather have the face to face interaction, roleplaying, and character development that Neverwinter Nights lacks.
Left me a bit cold

I wanted to like this one, I really did. Honestly though, it left me cold. While the graphics and sound were all decent enough, I just could not bring myself to care about my characters or the story. The story was very linear, and felt no emotional attachment to what I was doing with my character, unlike Baldur's Gate 2, which pulled me in with its eccentric characters and an environment that changed more according to my actions. Obviously, some people like this one, and it is certainly hard to find fault with the mechanics of it, plus it has a huge fan base of mods and multiplayer virtual worlds. But if you want an engaging story, I would look elsewhere.
Excelent game

This game is very fun and extremely addictive but it is also very long for a person who can't dedicate 12 hours a day on it like me. The basic story of the game is you are an adventurer in the city Neverwinter in the academy when a plaigue called the black death hits the city. In the first chapter, you have to find the cure to the plaigue by finding magical engridients guarded by powerfull creatures or parts of the creatures. There are four parts you need to get in all. Near the end of the first chapter, you learn that a cult is the cause of the plaigue and thus advances you to chapter two. In chapter Two you have to find where the cult is based and who is leading it and why. In the end of the first half of chapter two you find that the cult is based in Luskan, the city of disruption. In the second half you have to infiltrate the cults base which happens to be an very tall and well gaurded tower of high level mages and creatures. You first have to find your way in the tower which alone takes forever, then you have to get by all 9 levels of the tower to the pinnacle. There you find the cult leader, he runs from you leaving behind monsters. Then you find out what his mission is, to find the words of power. This leads you into chapter three. In chapter three you have to find the words of power before the cult does which is hard because for one, a guy knows where one of them is but wont tell you untill you find something that was stollen from her, second because it is rumored that they are gaurded by dragons. This is where I am in the game, I have been playing this game for over a year and I am barely half through it (I must say though that I only play for about three hours a week). I can't tell you how the third chapter ends or anything about the fourth chapter so lets move on to the game ratings. The graphics and sounds are very good but sometimes your henchmen get way behind you and they come flying out of no where. There is also a violence slider that is cool, it ranges from no blood to the person violently screaming in pain and blowing up with organs and bones with blood in a circle around where the guy you killed was. (I have my slider all the way toward Extreme) Game play is also great but also very long and there are litteraly hundereds of side quests to get you off track of your main quest (explained above) but the plot is rich and has depth. Replay value is great, there are numerous races to choose from like elf dwarf etc. and lots of classes to choose from like rogue (my favorite), fighter wizard and so on. Cheat system is good, you can get cheats to turn your enemies into flying cows and your basic invinsability, infinate gold and so on. NOTE!!!!!!! THE USE OF CHEATS WILL PREVENT YOUR CHARACTER FROM ADVANCING IN THE CHAPTERS OF THE GAME!!!!!!!! Difficulty, game is very challenging to people who are not experienced gamers but should be easy for anybody who plays D&D. I find myself dying very often which is bad because you loose XP and gold when you die, but you can return to exactly where you where via the mage that brings you back to life. Or if you can remember ( I can't) that at the start of game you are handed a magic object that transports you to the nearest temple where you can be healed buy supplies an stuff and when your done in the temple and in the surounding town you can return to where you where for a small fee via potal in temple. There is a game difficulty slider that lets you choose how hard the game is (Mine is all the way toward Easy) and you can pause and save whenever you want. NO REMEMBERING PASSWORDS TO WHERE YOU WHERE!!!!!!!! In general this is a good game worth your money if you are serious about beating it and doesn't give up, NOT FOR LEASURLY GAMERS WHO LIKE TO PLAY A GAME ONCE A WEEK FOR HALF AN HOUR!!!! This game will keep you buisy for a long long time but is worth it if you are patient.

If you want to play a fantasy RPG, this is a pretty good one. There are a couple of things about it that I found frustrating:
henchmen - you can only give them potions which they use right away, nothing else.
the BIG DISSAPOINTMENT was that the module designer program that comes with the PC version of the game is NOT AVAILABLE on the MAC or LINUX versions of the game - so you cannot create your own modules. You can still do the on-line play, and the DM client is included so you can DM the game.
Worth the wait

I waited for five years for this game and I am not at all disappointed. I opened it up last night, installed it, and sat in awe while I played all night until I fell asleep at the keyboard. I'm still so in shock at the grandness of it all that I'm going to have a hard time explaining my feelings. Even on my measley - by their standards - 400mhz G3 powerbook it runs beautifully. Not astoundingly fast, but the only problems with loading were with text conversations in large areas. The in-game system is easy to understand and use, the characters are as well done as you would expect, I absolutely love the music. Also, it's the closest by far that I've ever seen to sitting at a table and actually playing pen and paper dungeons and dragons. Congratulations to the companies that created and put it out, it's a thing to be proud of and has accomplished the feat of playing D&D at home by yourself.
My only complaint: Waiting a year longer that they advertised for the mac version to come out.

This is the first game I bought for my Power Book and I love it. After finding out the only game that comes on a Mac is Chess I decided I needed to get a real game. My brother sugested Neverwinter to me and so I got it. Since then I have hardly been able to set it down. A I play, I find that as I achive one goal all of a sudden a different chain of events happen. I knew there was a lot of playing time but I never imagened to get so much of my moneys worth out of it. That may be bothersome to some people but the box does say that it has 60+ hours of game time. Before I bought this game I was not familar with the rules of D&D, I don't think I quite still understand all of it. I find it rather relaxing to be able to leave my computer to fight with it's self. I have to admit that at sometimes I wish I could contol my character to be able to decapitate my averitary's head.

iv owned this game for about 6 months and when i first got it it didnt really run good and i was unexpierenced with D&D based games. Since then iv played Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 and Icewind Dale and iv come to appreciate NWNs as one of the best RPGs out. I really suggest you at least running it on a G4 700 MHz at least. I started playing it on my imac G3 500mhz and it ran just not very well and you couldnt get the best out of the game. i have currentley purchased a new computer and it runs great the graphics are awsome and the storyline is pretty good. i dont like though that you can only party up with one person (called a henchmen). i believe it shouldve been more like baldurs gate in the NPCs area of it but besides that a great RPG. Id suggest purchasing this game and its newley released fun expansion packs.
Pros:
-Great Single Player Campaign though towards the end its too easy
-its 3D!
- 60 hours of Gameplay
-good graphics
-multi-player its pretty good
-Nice control
Cons:
-only one party member (cant equip with weapons armor etc)
-With mac version no toolset
-gameplay can get repetetive
