Mac Must-Have

If you like multi-player strategy games such as Age of Empires or Starcraft, this game is a must-have for anyone who owns a Mac. It has been a long wait since something this good came out.

Age OF Empires 2 is a true to History epic thrill. Improving on the first one drastically, their are campigns for 5 different civs. Such as the Mongols and the William Wallace Campaign. It's easy to learn to play with easy campaigns. Their are many different types of game formats, the multiplayer is excellent where you can play as the same civ with a friend, and the graphics kick. Buy age of Empires II I know you wont be dissapointed.

Finally, the cool versions of AOE are here for OS! Age of Kings is amazing and Concerors the EX pack makes it even cooler.! Buy this item and you won't be disipointed!

At last. A Mac version of Age Of Empires II. Altought it is a great game it seems that these guys didn't have time to finish it before October, 31 (shipping day) and shipped the beta version. I get an "Unexpectely Quit" error all the time (Tried it on different machines), and this [is bad] when you are playing a multiplayer game. I hope they fix it soon.

Though the macintosh release of age of empires was delayed over a year, at least the folks at destineer had the good sense to pull through and develop the bestselling game for a quickly growing platform. Mac users, constantly suffering from the letdowns of the likes of sierra (Half-Life), and westwood (Tiberian Sun), finally have a reason to rejoice. However, I'm only giving this title 4 stars, due to its late release and consequential obsoleteness on the gaming market.

No Mac/PC Multiplayer

In answer to some reviewers here: no Mac/PC Multiplayer possible. Only Mac/Mac. Destineer says they're trying what they can do about it. Honestly, I suspect there's some Microsoft policy involved here. Why else is inter-system multiplayer possible with far most other games?

(...) I can say that AOE 2 is my second favorite game of all time, it is so well done... You get to control civilizations from the Britons to the Turks to the Byzantines, and build swordsmen, archers, knights, and castles; what could be more fun? Unfortunately, it took 2 years from the time it was released on the PC to get it over to the Mac. It's here now, though, so we can finally play it.

It's not be the best port in the world, but at least it's there, and it hardly if ever crashes after you update CarbonLib. Besides, you can just save your game when important things happen in it... Aside from getting a PC, there's no other way to play it, and I definitely recommend this as a must-have for anyone who plays games on a Mac.

One last thing: For some reason, the hotkey for gate and archery range are both 'A', so you have to change it under options to '/', which is what it's supposed to be...

I have a thirst for history, this and Age of Empire's Gold Edition were able to clench my thirst with Scenarios, battle's, and Historic Remakes of Ancient Campain's.

Age of Empires 2 Gold is one of the best games I have ever played! With the 5 new civilizations to control, new campaigns, new game types, real world maps, and many new changes to The Age of Kings, the Conquerors expansion pack adds 10 times more excitement to the already thrilling game. For anyone who doesn't mind a little blood, this is a stupendous game that every gamer must have!
