Would have been Perfect 7 years ago

I think Wiz 8 is a good game IF you are a fan of the Wiz series and have played the other games. If you are new, you will indeed, not get what all the fuss is about.

I can understand that it would be hard to jump into Wiz 8 and be excited by it. It does, on the surface, interact a whole lot like M&M. The graphics are OK, but nothing special or new. The story line is OK, but you appreciate it much more if you played Bane, Savant...etc.

This game will be loved by Wiz fans, like me, that waited years for the next (and sadly final) chapter in this series. But, if you are new to the Wizardry story line, weren't even alive when Wiz I came out, or think that games like Final Fantasy are examples of an RPG....you are too young and spoiled by technological advances to appreciate this game and the rest of us are too old and reflected to see its flaws.

Great Rpg

this game was made for the true rpg players that like to spend hours playing. this game also lets you create your party with unique characters. this game lets you play for months without stop. this game new personality settings are great i enjoy all of the comments the character provide.

This "game" is simply a point at the monster and click and click until he is dead. I custom created the characters but played the actual game for all but 30 minutes and yawned and went to bed. Bor ing. The voices were stupid and not funny at a all. I personally think they should have been left out! They completely ruined the game for me. Dwarves don't sound like teenagers, and that's what the voices were, just like Might and Magic VI+. Get some serious actors in there or don't even bother putting voices in at all!
As for the interface, it was tedious and could only be controlled with the mouse, no hotkeys. You click on an envelope and out comes a smiling face saying "let's get dangerous" or "I'm yer worst nightmare.." something equally stupid. You then deside wheather you want to attack with sword, gun or magic then click on the monster. What a teenage concept, I think I'll stick with the classic games. Dark Savant, Bane, ect.

Thou young kids! Lo! Now you know what is a classic...

As a faithful Wizardry fan from the apple time, I am deeply moved by Wizardry 8. I really hope newbies and youngers of the gaming world can know why the Wizardy series occupy such a special status in the mind of us old gamers.... Any teenager gamer of nowadays will surely be moved after 20 years if he still has something like Baldur's Gate 8 to play...

It is said that this is the last game of the wizardry series. What I want to say is that this is truly an excellent game, and at the same time a perfect ending of this series. Farewell, Wizardry. Farewell, Young days.

Excellent AD&D PC RPG

A Fabulous Game! It truely is D&D on the computer except for you don't fight the same monsters but different ones.

Beware: it is huge (80 hours+) and can be very difficult as there are lots of spawned monsters to keep fighting. The puzzles and quests are intense and are not winnable without serious help (see gamefaqs.com for help).

The characters are great as each gets a voice and a personality. They are hilarious.

The spells are disappointing as the best are defensive. The offensive spells just don't do enough damage to damage large groups until much later in the game.

You must use each ability constantly or you don't go up in abilities. Experience is only to level up to get HP and spells (one at a time). There are spell books to find and great stuff at the stores around the place. There are tons of items and you spend quite a bit of time organizing your stuff, selling, and buying.

The AI is good but extremely slow and can drag out the game when waiting for others to move. You can't take back actions and are forced to wait your turn before getting to move when you don't need to move in the first place. Boy did I spend alot of time backing up into corners before combat to cover my back.

Wizardry 8 is a 1st person RPG and the graphics are alittle old. You also have to go back and forth on the same roads a few times, but I still loved it and recommmend it. It so reminds me of playing Wizardry 1 about 20 years ago but very moderized and accurate.

Not perfect but pretty close for a RPG with style

It took a long time to finally get this game onto the shelves but I think it was worth the wait. For the RPG fans out there this game is a must have. Any fan of the earlier Wizardry series will also find this game vital to their collection.

It was a change of pace to be in a 3d environment and it is pulled off nicely. In one sense it feels odd to be in a first person perspective but its easy to get used to and personally I think it really shines to help immerse you into the story and game. Nothing like seeing a group of bad guys coming at you and you can either make a run for it or duke it out.

Character development is as usual top notch. Unlike earlier versions of Wizardry game where you had to roll and roll and roll to get that Ninja Fairie you could just make one. The game of course allows you to import any previous parties you created in the earlier Wizardry games, although its been so long I don't know how many people still have their old parties.

Combat can be either turn based or realtime. Realtime is really only good for those battles where you know you will win and don't need to use magic much. Not real practical but good for when you are advanced and don't want to wade through combat. Combat can be slow though but they do a good job at keeping tension during combat as monsters advance with you. So you may encounter something you can mop up or be running for your life. Its a good mix really. This is pretty typical with RPG games though.

The game does have a few problems but most are not too bothersome. I would probably give this game 4.5 stars but since I have to choose between 4 and 5 I say its a 5. My biggest complaint is that this might be the last Wizardry. But you never know.

The best game I've ever played

First of all, I am not very good at computer games, but I know when I like one, and Wizardry 8 was great! I'm still looking for a game that I like as much. There are a lot of options for characters, and both my husband (expert) and myself (very novice) enjoyed it very much. It's a very versatile game and I highly recommend it.

A very nice role-playing experience.

This game is just fun. The graphics are nice, sometimes, very, very nice. The characters say funny and witty things(which will add replay value), and the plot is deep. The role-playing experience is very deep, also, with four pages of stats on each character. You can control up to six characters, four you create, and two NPC's. I patched the game, but had no problems with the game out of the box. I guess the patches do correct some issues, several serious, later in the game. If you like role-playing games, I recommend this one with no reservations at all.

BEST GAME EVER

This is by far my favorite game. Wicked graphics and really cool monster desins. Now i have never played Diablo so i hate it when people reffer to it as a similie to Wizardry 8, But so far this is by far my favorite game. I highly reccomend it to anyone into combat game.(with some very amusing detail).

Warning - There's An Advertisement

Every time that you exit this game, you have to click through an advertisement for gaming PC's. You just paid fifty bucks for a game, and it has an advertisement in it. I immediately returned the game. They're not getting my money and then subjecting me to advertising, and they shouldn't get your money either.
