Disappointment after Journeyman Project 2

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 2 / 2
Date: November 24, 1999

While it was attractive to look at, with good music, I was really disappointed to find that I had to sit through a lot of religious mumbo-jumbo; most of which didn't really help solve puzzles. I did like the chameleon outfit, making choosing the right character part of progressing in the game. I would have also liked to see a longer puzzle-solving scene for the finale. JP2 was much better, in my opinion.

Good Challenge, Bad acting, and downright annoying sidekick

The gameplay is a good challenge, traveling through three different time zones of ancient cities to find three peices to an ancient alien artifact, the Legacy of Time. The graphics are prety good, and give you 360 degree view in any direction. The mazes are well set up, challenging, but logical. You do need to make sure you have decent sound for this game, and in areas the puzzles depend on it, so if you're hearing impared, or even tone deaf, this can be difficult.

You have a sidekick along with you in your journey who is an AI program who inhabits your enviromental-suits' computer, giving you suggestions, somewhat relevant to the situation at hand trivia, and making wisecracks as you go along....even making jabs at Gallagher. While helpfull, and sometimes funny, he gets annoying after a while. Fourtunatly you can set him to three levels of interaction, from very talkative to speaking only when asked for input.

The acting of most of the charachters was prety bad, but what do you expect from a computer game? ....beginer actors who are willing to take any job that comes along.

All in all a challenge, but not one I'd spend a lot of money on, I got it for free which is why I played it.

The Best of Them Yet!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 3

This Journeyman Project game is the best yet. However, this may be due to the fact that we have made extreme advancements in technology.

A 360-degree view let's you pan aorund your entire world. The scenery of past civilizations really is quite beutiful. Presto Studios did a wonderful job on the 3D portion of this game. This game allows the player to interact with other characters in the game. It allows you to choose from a choice of things to say. The extensive inventory allows you to carry several items at once from multiple time zones. The chameleon suit (added bonus!) allows the player to deiguise himself/herself as any character it meets. All of the guises are conviniently located at the bottom of the screen. This truly is a wonderful game!

Good gameplay, so-so graphics and poor acting

The gameplay and the puzzles are just fine, if a bit confusing (but hey, if I understood everything right away, it would be too easy.) The graphics are a bit disappointing (compared to Riven and Myst 3: Exile.) The worst thing about the game is the poor acting (especially the obviously fake accents) of the people you come in contact with. The characters are shallow, unrealistic, and stereotypical.

However, this is a game you play for the puzzles, and the puzzles are fun. Moving around the manipulating things is easy, which is a real plus. Overall, I recommend this game if you can get it at a good price (i.e., it's a fun game and worth your money, but not a must-play like Riven.)

BEAUTIFUL HISTORY

This game uplifted my perception of history and humanity. The stories are intricately done each weaving into a single tapestry greater than the sum of the parts. It plays very well. Some reviewers have complained about the ending. It was very appropriate. As the monks in Shangri-la might say: It not the destination that makes the journey worth while. And in this case, getting there is ALL THE FUN.

A Must Have!

Wow! This game is by far my favorite GA. The story line and hours of immersive gameplay are enough to hook even the most hard-core gamer. The 360-viewer is amazing when viewing the incredible graphics of lost civilizations. It can be a little glitchy at first, but if you mess with the options panel, it runs extremely well. And the price! You'd have to be crazy not to want this game!

Great Game

Second only to Riven on my list. Engrossing, satisfying, challenging. The only minus was an annoying midget [?] with a high-pitched voice who was supposed to help. I kept him turned off most of the time. He sounded a lot like Dennis Miller.

Fun Searching

In general, it was fun playing this game. The best part was in playing different faces and searching for the right stuff to feed the statues. However, I found it boring to listen to all the "teaching" which was not essential to the game.

A must by for those who love a good story

I have not played the previous 2 games in the series, but I loved this game. No bugs, easy to install, and alot of fun. I really liked the fact that you could get as many clues as you needed to solve a problems. The Trilogy is on my shipping list =)
