Samurai says: Great Game...

Throne of Darkness is quite an addictive game. If you check the reviews it has received you might notice that there hasn't been too much buzz or hype about this game. This is unfortunate because Throne is really a great game. I have found myself tied to the monitor early mornings before work trying to move my seven (only four at any given time) samurai warriors towards Tsunaioshi the dark warlord.

The graphics are truly beautiful. Set if feudal Japan the gamer must choose a clan with which he/she will set out on a journey that utilizes a gameplay quite similar to that of Diablo. There is a slight learning curve to this game, as it can become quite troublesome controlling the different abilities of four warriors at a time, not to mention monitoring their equipment/armor status for repairs. All in all this does not detract from a challenging and involving gaming experience.

...... is currently offering this gem for a meager [amt] which is a blowout price that should not be looked over. This game is guaranteed to provide hours of fun and frustration.

Enjoy,

.....

This game is great! I like the way you can interface with the 7 samurai's and the role playing element. The only drawbacks to the game is getting use to the combat in which you have to keep clicking on the enemy icon while that enemy keeps moving around. Also this game's difficulty is moderate. This game is worth it.

Throne of Darkness is one really cool game!

I have to admit, when I first read some reviews about Throne of Darkness I was a little hesitant about purchasing this game. But since I liked DIABLO so much I figured I would give it a try...and it was well worth it,and more.If you enjoyed DIABLO,you will get into this game as well.I would highly recommend Throne of Darkness to anyone.

This is a game you can play over and over again and it will remain fresh each time. Just play the very first scenario two or three times and you'll discover different weapons, etc. The gameplay is very similar to "Diablo" but is spiced with Japanese mythology adding a whole new flavor to it.

great but flawed

This game is awesome, but it runs out of bad guys, weapons, armor, items, and spells long before the game is over. Because of this, you feel like you are just going through the motions for the last part of the game and it becomes really boring. If it had enough "new stuff" to keep you entertained then this could have been one of the best games ever made. I would still recommend it to those who appreciate Japanese Feudal culture though.

sweet 10 dollar game.

not a lot of one-year old games that are 10 dollars are really any good. however Throne of Darkness is obviously an exception.

graphics: my computer is an AMD K6-2 350 MHz with 184 megs of RAM and an integrated graphics chipset that uses 8 mb of my system memory. if that makes you sick, believe it or not, ToD runs on it, so the system requirements are quite low, thus resulting in some "OK" graphics, but from that overhead view, no one really is paying attention that the Swordsman's arm. and the 800x600 resolution is only OK.

gameplay: gameplay is good after you find the priest and blacksmith. after you actually understand the system and all of the abbreviations of the item stats, then these guys are pretty cool. customizing armor and weapons with found items (usually from higher level enemies) is pretty cool and sacrificing old items for spell points lightens your load. you really gotta keep all of your characters (7 of them) on the same level. I have a level 25 ninja, and a level 2 wizard. and the spell system is a bit weird. my ninja has a level 15 spell that supposedly does i think like 175-200 earth damage but does nothing to some of the "bosses" of the mountain citadel (the last "level" i think) and also it gets really difficult in the last citadel, and because of my slow computer i keep crapping up in the place, but i can go to other places to level up.

Sound: music is pretty good and the japanese yells are a bit funny.

overall, buy it! its ten bucks, and if you don't like it, big deal. are you going to buy 10 candy bars instead? you will probably enjoy ToD much more!

Bring a book!

Okay, perhaps I'm a tiny bit spoiled by having played all of the Baldur's Gate titles, expansions, etc., but I found this game to be really, REALLY slow. I often found myself reading while the daimyo healed my characters. The characters would be healed, then hacked to bits within 3 minutes, back to the daimyo to begin the cycle anew. Geez! I agree with a previous critique, the sorcerer is worthless. I do however, like the little dance he does when he dies! While creating new types of armor is slightly interesting, it really drags after a time.

I recently saw that Amazon now has this title is cheaper than what I paid for it.

I would rather play Diablo 2 expansion

This game is not so great. You start off in a shrine room and have to work your way through the other three clans citadels. This game did not have a very good plot to it and they even showed you the trail at which you must travel on to get to the next area which i found too easy for my liking. Once you get to the last citadel you have to fight the last boss which proved to be very simple. I found that the only character that is good is the swordsman, the other characters die to fast and i am very unhappy with that. They made the swordsman so weak taht u can barely even play with him cause you dies so much. It can be fun making and customizing new items but it gets boring after a short amount of time actually. The graphics are pretty clear but cartoonish and the videos in this game are very entertaining to watch because they are so bad. I looked forward to playing this game and the first time i played it i found it to be a waste of time and money. Do not be fooled by the way this game sounds it is not great and doesn't even deserve 3 stars.I woudl reccomend Diablo 2 Expansion over this title any day.

hmmm looks...interesting

Well i don't know what you like but this game would be great for me. Latly i have had a intrest in fuedal jappan (no realy!) and this game caut my eye. The gaming is much more plasible since 1)you use plays to comand team mattes instead of some odd phycic ability to to choose tier actions for them hence you use leadership skills 2)your weopons wear out like in real life 3)Is bassed on mit rather than some imployese's bad dream or something 4)millions of other tid bits So why 4 stars? well the game looks ether short or repedative and rather costly, plus i gtta bad feeling that the makers will incorparate some over-graphic violence making the game M and discuraging some people who would love this game(you know wo you are).

I have NEVER played this game, but if you like your characters played by a computer and not have the ability to plan your battles, by all means get this game. I hated Dark Stone and Vampire because of this horrible feature and died repeatedly.
