This game is like combining Star Wars Battle Front and Medal of Honor. You can drive any, vehicle, ship, and plane in the WWII theater of operation or you can just play as an infintry man in a first person shooting mode. Since I have bought this game I haven't stopped playing it.
Get this not BF2 complete collection! (there is a trick..)

Overall a very good and fun game. The graphics are quite dated compared to the newer games. Have not had much luck controlling the aircraft - even with a joy stick. The tight maps on single player are restrictive for aircraft. Also, on some of the desert scenarios - hard to determine where to press the attack. Overall very enjoyable.
Oh, please

I have had this game for 6 weeks and expected a wonderful WWII shooter that had everything. This game is not a failure, but a disappointment.
Pros:The maps allowed me to explore and enjoy the intense battles. I lost myself in the large, open maps like Guadalcanal and Gothic Line(Secret Weapons of WWII) and enjoyed the intense small maps that allow the andrelanline to rush, like Berlin and Stalingrad.
The soldier's kits were wonderfully packed with weapons that were realistic, but sadly underpowered(like the Thompson, Shotgun, and Type 99). The ammunition display fitted every weapon and increased the feeling of conservativeness.
Cons:The manual was a complete disaster. The controls tell you that you can control submarines, aircraft carriers, and battleships, etc., but later in the manual, it said that you could'nt. What submarines, there is nothing even like that underwater, not even fish. It took me forever to find out that i could really control the large vehicles.
Weapons that looked wonderful, acted wonderful, and were semi-wonderful saddened me. Please, there is no such thing as taking 2 headshots to kill someone with a K98 Sniper rifle? This causes you to waste bullet after bullet for a cork gun.
The maps, no matter how small and easy for the CPU to run, had such a low frame rate that it felt like I was walking into several pictures. I could not aim at all, the slightest movement jerked me into a blocky, still-image frenzy.
This game is good, yes, but not good if you do not have a below average computer. I have a good computer, 2.6Ghz AMD with a ATI Radeon 9600 with 512RAM, but it still felt like a sloth.
Greatest WWII game ever made!!!!!!!!!

I saw this game on the shelf at Best Buy and I just had to have it.I love WWII and loved this game too. This game has a ton of vehicles to drive and explode. You can also drive airplanes and battleships. The smallest thing you can drive is a jeep and the largest thing you can drive is an aircraft carrier. There is a large variety of weapons including bazookas, snipers and the massive battleship deck guns. The Germans and Japs come in enormous amounts but so do your bullets. If you are in a vehicle no matter what it is, you can slam into, run over, and kill the enemy. There are different camera positions for the people who like it in a different place. You can steal enemy tanks and cars and planes. If you are in a plane, you can come in towards the enemy troops and take them out with your machine guns or come over them with some bombs and give them a little gift from the Americans. You can play as the Americans, the British, the Spanish, and the Italians. If you want to join the Axis powers you can play as the Germans and the Japanese. There is not that much action when you are among the enemy unless they are in a tank. Most of the shooting is done by you. The most action is the dogfighting in the air. If your enemy is occupying a tank, plane, jeep or battleship you should see some action. There are great online levels with new vehicles and battlefields. I have a piece of crap internet that doesn't connect me to online play with others, but I went to the online levels and they are cool even if you aren't fighting someone. So those of you with better internets should have even more fun with the game than me. A few other things that you can do are throw knives at people, stab people, bayonet them, blow them to hell with grenades, and get a jetpack to fly over the Germans and shoot them. Also, you can call for backup, artillery, and air support.Get this game, I guarentee that you will like it. And be sure to get the complete collection or the WWII anthology so you can own them all. -Clark

I purchased this pkg from amazon and it was new. Not used.
When trying to install on my xp machine it refuses to accept any of the codes on the booklet for the different modules. So far only fun I've had is mixing aspirin with tums. EA is unreachable by phone and doubt they will ever answer my tech support request. They won't see another nickel from me.
A few bugs, BUT WHAT A HIT!!!!!!!!

Ok, I admit this game has a few bugs. The only one that I seemed to have a problem with was the game messed up one time when I installed a mod BEFORE installing the official patch. GET IT RIGHT ON THEIR WEBSITE. Install this game and THEN the patch. Worked great now for months.
What mods? TOO MANY TO LIST!!! My personal favorite is Desert Combat Final. The one the only!! This mod ROCKS!! I have even played the demo for Battlefield 2, and I am still thinking about getting that game, but the same people that did the DESERT COMBAT and DESERT COMBAT FINAL mods (Trauma Studios) got hired to work on BF2 because of the Greatness of this mod!!
I have to say I am a little partial because I played this game before I played Call of Duty or Medal of Honor and even though I still own them, they are no longer installed on my system (I have Medal of Honor Pacific Assault too, but haven't even installed it - been playing BF1942 Desert Combat Final too much!). I do have Battlefield Vietnam, but I still like this one the best! It does take some time to learn to fly some of the planes and especially the helicopters but when you do you become a HUGE asset to your team!
When you get even better, there is a WHOLE LOTTA Clans out there on the net waiting for you to join. Never heard of a clan? These are groups of gammers that play together either on their server or someone elses over the internet. One person said no voice over IP. Most clans use either Teamspeak (FREE) or Ventrillo (FREE AND THE BEST!) to communicate to each other!
Excellent

I love this game. My brother introduced it to me, and i watched him play, and decided to play for myself. Since, i have become a moderate soldier, and can be a pretty good help on the Battlefeid. As for mods, my fav is Forgotten Hope, followed by Pirates, Eve of Destruction, and Desert Combat/Desert Combat Final.
The only way to experience the fun in battlefield 1942

Is to play it as a multiplayer online game. The single player game is worthless unless you're practicing how to maneuver the vehicles or fly the planes. I've played the game for probably a thousand hours over the last couple years and had a blast doing so. It's great to play with a few friends and use team tactics against other people. If you don't enjoy large scale multiplayer battles against other folks, don't buy this game. The icing on the cake are the great mods such as Desert Combat and Galactic Conquest. The above multiplayer comment holds for those as well. Another thing to note, this game will also aggravate you to a great degree if you aren't running it on hardware that can support at least the medium or better frame rate requirements. When the action gets intense, things will get choppy and you will get killed by people with better connections/computers. I've only played it over a cable modem so I'm not sure how the gameplay is over modem. An Athlon 1700+ with 512mb mem and a GeForce 4 4200ti were good enough for the medium settings but I observed slow down on the larger maps to the point that the game was effectively unplayable when many events were occuring at once. When I say unplayable, I mean you get frameskipping and lag that will get you easily killed. Otherwise, Battlefield has been a staple of my regular gaming and will continue to be so for some time to come....or July, when Battlefield 2 comes out ;)

Okay, I'm a gaming fan. I heard Battlefield 1942 was a great game, so I went ahead and bought it. Boy, was that a mistake. This game is devoid of most things that make a first-person shooter great. Let's go down the list...
Graphics-
The graphics aren't bad, but they're not great. Sure, there are vast environments that look pretty cool, but the sprites could have been better.
Gameplay-
Okay, this is what will make you deside whether or not to buy this game. If you like the idea of the following, this game would be good for you. If not, then don't buy it. Simple as that. Anyhoo, A LOT of people spawn on a HUGE field, and they just have to kill each other until their tickets run out. Oh yeah, you can take "key points" too, but that doesn't really seem to do anything. There's also a lot of vehicles to choose from, so that nice. And you get to choose your class, which adds variety, but doesn't really push this game the extra mile.
Mods-
This game has a lot of mods. A LOT. From Star Wars to the post-apocalyptic future, there's something for everyone. Though these mods do little other than replace the weapons and vehicles, and occasionally throw in an extra map or two. That is, if you can get them to work. They'd always make my game crash.
So all in all, the game was fun for a while, then I just kinda reapidly lost interest. It's not a terrible game, yet it's not a terribly fun game either. Yes, getting the game and expansion packs all in one box is neat and a good value, but if you really want a good WWII experience, go get Call of Duty.
