Ughh, this game was evilly bad, the graphics weren't anything spectacular, the AI was ridiculous, the sound effects were bad, there was no fun in the missions, the multiplayer was laughably bad...it was just dreadful...play somethin like Half Life, Rogue Spear or Delta Force, then play Spec Ops 2...you'll see how dire it is!
Pac-Man is a better game than this

The game is all hype. The pictures on the box, ha, it is justto attract you. I never saw any graphis like that. The graphicsaren't only bad, but Id like to know how to shoot the enemy, when they are invisible! I only gave it 1 star, because no stars wasn't an option! It was the #1 game on my Christmas list, but it was the worst software ever made. ATTENTION PARENTS DO NOT BUY THIS FOR YOUR KIDS IT IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF $30+, NOW THAT I'VE SEEN IT, YOU COULDNT GIVE IT TO ME.
The WORST game in the world.

This game is a horrific experience. The box looks very promising, but the gameplay is the worst I have ever seen. The control of your character feels like guiding a blind zombie through a swamp. And the graphics look like a Commodore64 game from the eighties. What do you need a 3D card for? And who turned of the lights? Every game is played in the pitch black, with only crappy nightgoggles to give you a green view of the surroundings. Enemies hardly repond to your presence and every gun looks like a wooden stick. People, don't buy this game, don't even look at it. Buy SWAT3 instead, still the best game in the market!

I am a player of many games, and have the age and knowledge to expect more from a software engineer. This game was poorly put together, and rushed to the retail shelves. The 3d graphics are all pixelated and full of errors. If you think that its my system, nope, P3 500 two 12 mg Voodoo2 SLI. Don't go thinking that this is in the same catagory as Red Storms Rainbow Six series. Doesn't come close to that game. I wouldn't except this game as a gift.

I'm a huge fan of Hidden and Dangerous so when I saw Spec Ops II on the shelves with the Talonsoft and Take2 logos on the box, I thought I was going to get something similar. I was sorely disappointed. I could just as well given the money to a complete stranger on the street for all I got out of this game. A complete waste. 1 star is more than this game deserves. Rather than rehashing the specifics, just read the other critical reviews. My experience was the same.

I am a major buff for Rainbow Six, and one thing that I felt that missed was the abillity to go anywhere in an outdoor enviornment. What I was really chasing was being like the special forces in CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, and Spec Ops 2 does it! You can go anywhere, and be point man telling your buddies where to go. The graphics are great, you are truely emmersed in the enviorment, but still some things are missing: the multiplayer organization is poor, leaving you not always knowing what's going on, the buddy AI is poor, and they sometimes get stuck on objects like mounds and buildings, and the enemy AI also can be either very poor, or too good. But, still the game is very fun to play, with a great ammount of realism.

Once I understood how the buddy AI archetypes worked this game just became incredible. The graphics were very cool from the get go but I was having a little frustration with buddy. But once I chose the type of soldier I wanted him to be(sniper, machine gunner, etc.) it became really fun. Give buddy a sniper AI with a SAW and watch him tear up the enemy on sight, he was picking off guys I didn't even see! Multiplayer was really fun too, there was almost no lag even running on my 28.8 modem!
Great First Person Challenge

I found this game to be quite interesting to play at first; the learning curve is tough to master the keystrokes, the military operational tactics take a bit of thoughtful strategy and then it moved to fully engaging by learning how to control a squad and master the art of hide and seek, and finally it became totally consuming in attempting to complete even a novice mission.
All the potentially negative reviews have some point of merit however take the game for what it is...a great first person or third person shoot 'em up game hyped up on strategy and tactics. This is not just an amazing graphic intensive ( althoght the graphics are not bad, no pure polygons here) shoot and kill and run and jump game "ala" Doom or Quake. This game requires a bit of thought and tacitcs to out flank the computer players and accomplish missions of rescue or sabatoge or escape. Unlike other games of this type, there is purpose and intent instead of pure killing feilds.
The online multi-player game experince is wildly fun and must be experience at least a few dozen times. The only down fall in the game rooms is the tendancies of the players to fall back to the traditional run - shoot- die - ressurect - run - shoot - etc with no strategy. This game is meant for true team competitive strategies and accomplishments of missions. If the game rooms gathered up sides and allies, then played the mission as it was intended, the game would truely take on a new dimension and have the element of real Special Forces Operations.
This reviewer cannot wait for the next Spec Ops to arrive, it should be out soon.

I like this game. I read all the bad reviews it got and felt compelled to write. The graphics aren't bad, and the missions do draw you in. There are a few bugs to be sure...but I still don't know if it is me still learning the game, or just plain bad programming. I have invested about 15 hours playing the game, and the first few were not enjoyable, trying to learn the game. But once I did learn the basics I must admit that I am hooked. As far as how it would compare to Rainbow Six or Hidden and Dangerous...I can't really say, I have played the demo's for those two games and didn't find them head and shoulders above Spec Ops II. I have a feeling that any fan of either one of the former will be disappointed, simply because this does not measure up to the game they have already learned...kinda like me thinking the former games do not measure up to this one. It's all a matter of personal tastes. The learning curve is slow and it does take a while to get used to it, but your perseverence is paid off with a very engaging gaming experience. Anyways, that is my two cents worth...now if you will excuse me, I am going back on a night op in the jungles of Thailand using my starlight scope and looking for the bad guys....and doing my best to nuetralize them.
