Virtual Hydlide - Diss or all Dat?

This game is generally dissed for its poor graphics, grainy textures, and sluggish controls. However, I found the game to be exciting and sometimes scary. Virtual Hydlide seems to be the closest thing to true 1st Person action in a setting which I most identify with true D&D or classic fantasy world. The player chooses from among 3 difficulty levels and the alpha-numeric key upon which the fantasy world is to be generated, or the program generates a random key to produce different map layouts. The quest targets remain essentially in the same order, unless the player chooses to risk life & limb by jumping ahead looking for advanced items (generally not a good idea). This balance of randomized maps and items with a familiar sequence of goals seemed to work well and made the game replayable for me. I have never conquered the 7th. goal as of yet, and can attest to the fact that this video game does get progressively difficult as you near the final goals. In my humble opinion, this game alone makes owning a Sega Saturn Interactive Multiplayer worthwhile.
