Must have the CD in the drive

I detest games like this that require I mount the CD in the drive. Especially when those games are published by companies with big agendas for laptops and other small devices that DON'T HAVE CD DRIVES! And even if I did have a drive, why should I have to go fetch the CD when I want to play the game? HELLO? I might be on the road? Why did I purchase that 60 GB Hard Drive? So that I would keep my stuff in a bunch of CDs? HELLO ??? Or, maybe this game is so overwhelmingly important that I should dedicate my CD drive to it. HELLO?
Annoyware? Infuriateware? How about boycottware? The only way to teach companies to stop this infantile attempt at antipiracy is to Not Buy Games That Require the CD in the Drive.
Don't buy it unless you want to shuffle CDs every time you want to play it. Don't buy it if your laptop doesn't have a CD drive.
I'm not even going to address the quality of the game.
Unbelievably bad!!!!!

UUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I read the reviews before I purchased this game. I CAN"T believe how boring this game is. Puzzles are simple to solve and the story line is cheezy!!! I am a puzzle game addict. This one, unfortunately, will be used as a coaster.!
no good

Neither the orignal or the replacement worked and I have returned both. I have yet to receive a refund of my purchse, which also included another game, which didn't work in a completely different way. The fact that the games don't show up on my account as a purchase, which I suppose is because I used 1 click shopping for the first and last time, makes it worse. All I know is its awfully hard to make contact or get satisfaction, when the computer does'nt acknowledge the purchase. Even cotacting by e-mail is made difficult by the redundant pre formed responses by the automated customer service. By the way , I'm running XP pro on an athlon 64 bit processor, and every other game I've purchased have worked.

I loved this game from the first time I ever played it. The puzzles are quite fun and get more difficult as your level of play increases.
I love that you are engulfed in the land you are playing in the puzzle. You are shown scenes from around the world broken down into fun puzzles that keep you challenged all the way until the end of the game. Music plays from each country of origin and the scene is set so realistically that I often play this game to get my desire for travel filled - for the time being ;-).

Pandora's Box is a cornucopia of puzzles, put together with a slender framing device. You're attempting to recapture the escaped trickster figures from several world mythologies -- each suite of puzzles solved earns you a segment of a little trickster story, and at the end of each level you solve a more challenging puzzle to capture the trickster and move on to the next. It's just enough structure to make you feel like doing the puzzles has a greater purpose -- hey, I'm not just twiddling here, I'm capturing Anansi! -- but not enough to distract from the pure pleasure of solving puzzle after puzzle.
And a pleasure it is. Pandora's Box is beautifully put together, right down to the pleasant background music, the unobtrusive but satisfying sound-effects when you get a piece placed correctly, and the map that you use to navigate (decorated with animated sea serpents!). I'm sure that works of world art were used because the images were in the public domain and hence free -- but who cares? They're gorgeous! Getting to see the picture when you solve each puzzle is a reward in itself.
The puzzle varieties are a mixed bag; I loved the three-dimensional puzzles, the overlaps, and the one in which you swap parts of the image until they're all correctly placed. There's another puzzle format in which you have tiny moving images which must be placed, though -- that one just made me seasick. And I found the "fill-the-outline" puzzles almost impossible to complete on a laptop, at the higher levels. Even with the more annoying puzzles, however, the compulsion to try this one ... and then that one ... and then just one more ... is overwhelming.
This in an incredibly satisfying and relaxing game, and I've never played anything else quite like it. I knocked it down a star rating because a few of the puzzle types are really poorly thought out; I would rather have had less variety of puzzle types, and more of the really good ones. But this is highly recommended title nonetheless.

I think this is a great game, very challenging, I think it could be a little more fantastical, because you are dealing with pandora's box, but it is a very good game.

There are enough different kinds of visual puzzles in this game to provide something for every puzzler. But it's more than that... there is a story! It isn't the kind of game that calls itself an adventure game but then sends you into a frustrating series of sliders and mazes... it makes no bones about its nature.
But it does have a premise: You, the player, are searching for a group of mischievous characters to return them to Pandora's Box. They have scattered to the four winds and can be found hiding in the mythology of a variety of cultures. Only through searching through famous artifacts, landmarks, and works of art from these cultures can you find characters like Anansi, Puck, Eris, and others, and return them to the box. With each one you are told the legend behind the character and hear pleasant, culturally appropriate music as you work the puzzle. It's not the kind of music that repeats a small, unnatural chunk of tune that drives you crazy, like some games do. You might be humming it later but you don't mind.
I never thought a puzzle game could be so immersive. There's also a lot to be learned in it about world cultures and art. A pleasant education, mind you.
Something to keep the brain cells working!

Pandora's Box is a puzzle game. It doesn't shoot things, kill things, or escape from demons or monsters. It is simply a game of hundreds and hundreds of puzzles of growing complexity. The easiest levels start with simple puzzles. You re-arrange pieces in a circular puzzle where pieces slide. Another puzzle is overlaying pieces to complete the puzzle. A third puzzle is stacking slices together to create a whole object. A fourth type is filling in the outlines of objects. There are several more types, but they get harder and harder. The backgrounds begin to spin. The pieces are of varying sizes. It just keeps morphing into harder and harder levels. If you are into thinking and evolving, this game is for you. If you are into mindless shooting and running, try something else. This game can be addictive. It is especially fun to work together if you are working with a younger child or adult. The fun of solving a puzzle together is part of the joy of this game. It's a shame that it isn't easily found anymore. It will require a patch from MIcrosoft if you are running XP, but it only takes about a minute to get it and install it. It is worth the effort.
