Not compatible

When I placed the order, I was so excited to find my title that I did not see an ad as large as the one that is currently on this page, therefore, I missed the fine print to see that The Next Tetris not ME and/or XP compatible. Dissappointed! Cannot play!

Not even worth a single star

I really was delighted when I stumbled across this product UNTIL I loaded it and played with it. Boring isn't even a boring enough word for this game. In fact, "game" isn't even the right word. Let's call it an exercise in wasting time. Boo! Hiss!

Because I find this game to be quite easy and pretty boring. I loved the original Tetris and don't think this is a worthy successor.

The graphics are horrible

The graphics on my dads Original Atari system from the 80's are better than the graphics on this remake. I expected better from a playstation game. I love Tetris, but this version is horrible.

Save your money.

Prettier than the original, but not as addictive

When "Tetris" came out in the late 80s, I played it avidly, probably risking some kind of carpal tunnel injury. Although "Tetris" is at least two generations ahead of old arcade favorites like "Space Invaders," it, like those older veteran games, has been reincarnated into a new version, with spiffier graphics.

It makes for a pretty game, but somehow, the new version lacks the addictive quality of the original. To be sure, the update is not limited to the graphics; with the new version, blocks can break apart and fill in gaps if you set them properly. But the game doesn't hold my attention.

I think there are two explanations for this. First, the game is quite difficult; you are given 5 minutes, in which you have to clear a level three times. It becomes very difficult to clear a level even once in 5 minutes, much less three times. Second, the new wave of games such as "Starcraft" and "Diablo" and "Civilization" have simply left "Tetris" in the dust.

A final note: the "original" version of "Tetris" on this game is very similar to the original, but it's not exactly the same. The scoring is different, and the background visuals are different.

not bad, but not fabulous either

Good things: The gameplay is pretty good, but I didn't much care for the timed single player mode.

Bad things: The background music! Just awful. And the voices, congratulating you every time you finish a level. Sheesh.

All in all, it's great if you can get it a good discount but certainly isn't worth the full price. Just turn off the background music and voices and play your own mp3s and it's fun.

Great fun

Funny how some folks like something, and others don't. I don't know why this game has some strong negative reviews, but put my name down on the side of loving the game.

The 2 player game is really great. My friends and I play for hours and hours at a time.

While tetris was great, I also like the added game play. The sliding colors take a while to learn, but add new aspects to the play.

Definitive 2 player Tetris

Albeit the single player mode isn't all that spectacular, the 2 player head2head is uber-fun. My wife and I couldn't put the controllers down. The only other 2player mode that I can even think of competing with this was the one on the Disney'ish Tetris game on the N64

Tetris Enthusiasts Beware - This Game is Addictive

When I couldn't find Tetris on the Internet for free, I decided to buy it. This particular version of Tetris is great because not only do you get the original version of Tetris, but you get some newer versions too. Even the music is pretty good. (You have to have the CD-ROM in there while playing the game to hear the music, however. I tried just playing the game off of the hard drive, and I was like, "Where's the music?") Hours of fun for just $9.99 is a great deal, in my opinion. Have a nice day!
