Dude, this is a blast!

I played the original Hard Trucks and loved it. This sequel is even better. They added a business sim where you "ARE THE TRUCKER" and you have to run your business AND have fun cranking through the roads at breakneck speed. Really a blast and good for a lot of hours of playing.

This game is a simulation type game. You are in control of your own truck. You must deliver goods and make money to help build your trucking business. The game is fun but you must have patience to succeed. Hauling other people's cargo may not be for everyone. You can upgrade your truck and even buy a new one. You can also hire other drivers to work for your company. The only downfalls to the game in my opinion are lack of multiplayer support and there are some parts of the game that are not believable such as crashes. The graphics are pretty good but be sure to meet the minimum requirements and a steering wheel really helps with this game.

pretty decent

this game is a definit improvement from the last two.
Its vary enjoyable if you just want to drive and enjoy the scenery but, you can also deliver goods and run your own buisness.
My only problems are the unrealistic crashes, the damage meter tells you that your truck is totaled but theres only a dent on fender. Also when you loose your trialer its not easy to get it back because the front end of the trailer apears to be in the ground. Overall its a very fun game and if you dont have it get it

not that hot

This game is OK if you just want to drive around but when it comes to delivering goods its prety bad. You know what city to go to but you don't know where in the city your supposed to drop it off. Another thing I don't like is when you lose your trailor it is really hard to get it back becauase it looks like it is in the ground.

Hard Truck 18 Wheels Of Steel is alot of fun. You can haul a load, or just cruse down the road (with out a trailer). You have to be careful, though. You need rest, plenty of gas, plus you need to stop at weigh stations, or you might get a ticket! There are three levels (reigons) of the game. West Coast, whitch is the easiest, Midwest, whitch is a little harder, and Rockies, whitch is the hardest; only experts can get a load to its destination on time on this region. You can upgrade your truck or even buy a new one, plus you need enough money to sleep and get gas as well. Some of the cities included are San Fransisco, Pheonix, Reno, Las Vegas, Cincinati, Louisville, Chicago, Detroit, Salt Lake City, Helena, and Boisie (I didn't list all of the cities). If you are interested in trains, then there is something for you in this game. Sometimes you go under train tracks. Sometimes you might see a train go over them (you have to be going under the tracks right when the train is going over to see its detail)! It is a very detailed game; the traffic lights really change, cars go by with real sounds, and sometimes drivers even go crazy and fly off the road in front of you! It is a really fun game and everyone in your family will enjoy it.

If you've ever dreamed of driving a big rig...

In this game, you are a trucker trying to develop your own transport company and make your own fortune. You do this by delivering loads, earning money and licenses so you can hire other drivers and assign them routes, as well as buy better trucks and upgrades. All the while, you have to avoid empty fuel tanks, pesky cops, and AI drivers who seem to cut you off at inappropiate times. Overall, it's a fun and unique gaming experience, although in other installments of Hard Truck, you had actual truck models (the ones here are generic) and you had to fight off the Mafia who would try to hijack your valuable loads and plant land mines in the highway. In addition, the cops were much more vicious in the previous games, using Apache helicoptors and high-powered riflesto stop you if you broke the law.

Great but could be better...

This is a real life like game. It plays like the real thing. I love the tired mode, that can catch you off guard fast. I thought Atari could of made the marker lights on the rig at night and have more trucks to choose from with me choosing the color. This is a great game and I am hooked until I finish all the levels. It is a good buy for the fun it provides.

Pretty Good

When i first bought this game i thought it would be great, I was wrong. When you pick the West map, Midwest map , and Mountains map it takes a long time to load. Soon after that when you start playing the game it has a lot of glitches. Another problem is when you want to deliver something it only tells you the city its in, not how to get there or were to go. The last problem is it sometimes exits out of the game while you are playing it and it doesn't save so you have to start over again. If you want to buy this game, dont enless you have a brand new computer with lots of space for more games.

Not only a great Trucking Sim, but a great DRIVING Sim as well

I'm going to be honest, I bought this game mostly for the drivng part of it then I did for the loads, but driving with loads is really fun as well!! The game is real fun, you can choose if you want to start a career in the midwest, west coast or the rockies. It is just fun to drive around as well!! BUT I have a few complaints.
My PC has all of the requirements, but the game is still sometimes choppy, not smooth which sometimes makes you crash into the car in front of you if you are tail-gating them. And the cars and you can't pass on the highway (although I sometimes do) Also, it takes FOREVER to get the truck going when you have a load behind it, therefor I don't stop for traffic lights. The game isnt glitch free, but it still is REALLY fun when it is. Buy this game, and the "18 wheels of steel across america."

Very good but needs improvement

The game itself is really fun. Driving on highways and hauling cargo/trailers to their destination and making money in many major cities. It's like driving a real truck and owning your own business but all this done right on your computer. Why I gave it a 4 stars then? Here's why:

While the game is fun, it can still be improved. Allow me to break it down in simple words...

Pros
---------

1. It comes with a jukebox where you can load mp3s and wave format music files so you can drive and listen to your favorite music without having an external cd player.

2. Steering is very accurate and it really feels like you're driving a truck!

Cons
--------

1. CRAZY cops - You can be cited even when you're driving under the speed limit. That's right. They got CRAZY cops!!! The basic truck goes no faster than 69mph. The speed limit is 75 on the highway and I got a speeding ticket driving 63mph and 69mph.

2. CRAZY ticket fines - I got fined $600 the first time and $2700 the second time before I reached my destination. (sigh) It is so unrealistic!

3. Unclear instructions - The instructions that comes with this game is very brief. No explanation of game functions and some statements are unclear, tbut their technical support was very helpful!

4. It is almost impossible to accelerate with a trailer in the back. Feels like you're driving a truck with a Honda Civic engine.

Overall, the game is fun. Yes, the speeding ticket doesn't matter since it's only a game. The thing is, it slows up your whole process down and frustrates you since you're driving under the speed limit. Again, this game can be improved and I want to see those improvements when Hard Truck 18 Wheels of Steel 2 comes out. Happy Trucking!!!
