You would think being able to play on a 1931 pinball table would be pretty cool, wouldn't you? Well, in Microsoft's Pinball Arcade it proves to be pretty bad. None of the pinball tables are really that great. The 1931 pinball table, "Baffle Ball", is certainly baffleing to us, with no real guide as to how to play it, you only can guess on what to do, and the best way to go about scoreing points. Game critics tend to say that the best feature about Pinball Arcade is the sound, and I'll have to agree with them on that, but thats not saying much considering the ball physics of Pinball Arcade are frustrating and unrealistic, and the designs of the tables are unimaginative. All in all, the tables are either too easy, or because of the lack of realism, very difficult. It almost put me to sleep the first few times I played it. The ball drifting around the table makes me sleepy just thinking about it. Buy Pro Pinball: Fantastic Journey, it's much much better.

This is by far one of if not the best pinball games out there. I know. I wasted plenty of money on many others......Fantastic, Real Tables from yesteryear. When you play some of the olds ones......like knockout and slick chick....they can seem rather difficult and not much to hit. But if you learn how to use your nudge buttons they can be FANTASTIC. And you can set the nudge buttons for CAPS LOCK AND ENTER which make them much easier to use. Def have to use nudge on KNOCKOUT, because to big a gap at bottom. But its a challenge to keep it in play.....after the bar goes down at the bottom learn to try to put the ball in the side holes with your flippers...The ball doesnt move too fast or slow...maybe a little on the slower side but remember this game is and oldie. You can make some shots and control it which you need with this type of table.......Slick chick is great also with lots of targets and plenty of bumpers....I grew up playing the 70's and 80's tables, but i think these are terrific if you put some effort and use your nudge buttons........CUE BALL WIZARD....Love the sound track. They may overdue the saying " Get the ball up the ramp" but still think it is dynamite. I found as i went along to do more bank shots to the back and you score extra balls and games. Also love it when it says " Hurry get the 9-ball" for half a billion.......Microsoft has done a great job....great tables views as if you were standing at the table, unlike most CD PINBALL GAMES I'VE SEEN. Well worth the money.....I would have paid a 100 dollars for it if i had too. I'm just hoping they eventually put out some more......Microsoft are you listening....LOL. BUY IT. If you like PINBALL YOU WILL LOVE IT..........
Big disapointment

only two of the five game are ok to play. and those are just not worth it.
I am a truck driver. I play the real game in truck stops. This game does not cut it.
The ball just does not move well in any of the five games.
I would give it no stars but that was not a choise. Whoever gave it a good rating has never played the real games....
Very disappointing!

I was very surprised to to find that the pinball game that came with my computer is far better that this. Did not have "the feel" of real pinball. This is compared to the other game. I expect much, much more from Microsoft. I do not recommend it.
Huge Disappointment!

The box looks exciting, but the looks are decieving in my opinion. If you expect flashy arcade fun, pass this one by. The older games are no classics in my book, and if I had found a demo to download I would have NEVER bought this one. I expected more from Microsoft, but was left very dissatisfied. As an avid pinball player, I would have never feed quarters to these games. I had much more fun with others, this one was uninstalled after seeing it the first time.

Honestly, the only real interesting game on it is "Haunted House", but it's hard to really enjoy it because the field of view is SO LOW! Also, the Ball is VERY Bouncy, making shooting VERY Difficult. It's really a shame because the game had So Much Potential... if only Microsoft had done it right, but they blew it. :(
Very disappointing

I am very disappointed in this pinball collection. The games have a very 'clunky', awkward feel to them and are totally lacking in excitement. There appears to be very little need for any amount of skill on the players part. The "Space Cadet" pinball found on almost all new Hewlett Packard PC's beats this game easily. Why is it so hard to find a decent PC Pinball game?
Boring pinball game

I am really surprised how boring this game is. The older pinball games are extremely boring. I played it once and it hasn't been played since. No one in my family liked this game and I would urge caution before buying this game. If you are looking for an exciting edge of your seat pinball game, I wouldn't recommend this one. I only wish I hadn't wasted my money, and that I could return it. Thank you.

Boring! Not worth the price of the CD it is on. Only a nostalgic pin-ball junkie might appreciate this.
Disappointing. There much better pinball games out there.

I thought the idea was a good one... you get to play reproductions of influential pinball games throughout pinball history. However, I have to say that the execution left a lot to be desired.
The ball physics is very poor, and the animation was way too choppy (I have a fast machine, and the other pinball games played much more smoothly). I found myself instantly frustrated with the lack of control I had over the ball and gave up playing it after just an hour.
I'm a pinball fan, and spent the last couple of months buying pinball games and trying them out. Microsoft Pinball arcade scores near the bottom of the list. If you want a great pinball game, get "Pro Pinball: Timeshock" instead. "Addiction Pinball" was also pretty good, and "Full Tilt 2" wasn't bad, but all of them beat this lame program hands down.
Bottom line: I had high hopes for Microsoft Pinball Arcade, and it let me down. Big time.
