This is a game for grown ups....but be warned, after you get started, it is quite addictive! Do not get discouraged if it is tough to get many lines or tetris to begin with, because before you know it you will be lining over 200! So so fun! After you score a certain amount of points it will reward you with a nice little grahic. Awesome. Have fun!

the best puzzle game ever made

This is the best puzzle game ever made. Although I love the Puyo Puyo style games (Dr. Mario, Columns, Bust A Move, etc.), I have to say that Tetris is the cream of the crop. After all, Tetris is what sold the original Gameboy, and it was logical to make Tetris DX a launch title when the Game Boy Color came out. I bought the GBC the day it was released, and I bought Tetris DX the next week, and Tetris DX is one of the most-played titles on my GBC...the sheer addictiveness of the game is so frickin' awesome, and I love how blocks fall faster in later levels (so it has an 1980's old-school style to it...I love "old school" games).

a cut above the previous version

This is the only game I play on my GBC, which I've had for just over two years now. The two modes I stick to are Ultra and Marathon. I mostly play Ultra because the rocket ship animation that comes up after you lose when playing Marathon can get annoying after a while.

The previous version only allowed you to move one space laterally for every space the piece dropped. Very tough. In my opinion, the nicest change in this version of the game is the ease you can slid blocks laterally. The one for one idea is gone. Here in DX, I've gotten to level 30 with regularity, whereas before in previous versions, I was lucky to get past level 20.

I'd recommend this game on that change alone. The fact you can keep records for yourself is just a plus.

I have to force myslf to play other games instead of tetris as it is so addictive. I have had to buy a mains cable as my batteries were not lasting long enough !

Improves over the original

I'm not going to bother explaining what Tetris is, as by now, all of you have been laying bricks for the past two decades.
Instead, I will explain why this just might be the best tetris since the original.
Except for missing the catchy original Tetris music, this versian improves vastly over the original.

Giving the game a nice color overhaul made it really pretty to look at, and they beefed it up with several features I wished were in the original (without ruining it like they did in Tetris Worlds for the gba)

For example, there is a save anywhere feature, so you can play it anytime you want. Also, how many of us wish that you could play Tetris against another? Well, in the origianl, you had to have a buddy who had a link cabe, a gameboy and a copy of tetris to play. You still have to do that in this versian, but you can also challenge the computer to matches, and it will send you garabge blocks just like it would if you were playing one of your friends. You can set the difficulty three levels, and the higher you set it, the more aggressive the computer becomes.

Also, my main complaint with Tetris Worlds was there was no scoring feature, but this versian has plenty, and even saves the when you turn off the game. Not even the original did that! (At least, not in my gb game)
There is the "view next piece" feature, but you can turn it off if you wish, but there is no"infinate rotate" feature, or "ghost/shadow piece" to let you see when to drop it.

I was very disappointed with the gba Tetris Worlds, and it's funny that I should tell people to go buy this instead of the gba game, but this one is worth the purchase, folks!

Get this, and forget there ever was a "Tetris Worlds", as this one improves over the original in almost all ways (exept the music..I would have liked the russian tetris music, instead we get this weird techno-pop music.)

I bought Tetris for my daughter and thought I would give it a try. It is very habit forming!!! Tetris is the only Game Boy game I have enjoyed.

Tetris...What makes it so addictive?

I found "TETRIS" in the middle of nowhere and found it a brilliant addition to my very primative collection of games (i live for the old stuff). It is easy to catch onto the simple rules and very addictive. You can never WIN, but beating your own personal best is really good when it happens. I think that is also educational for that buff they call spacial awareness.

However, I would not buy it unless you can get a good price for it. You can get HandHeld games with original And Variations of the origianl "TETRIS".
