Mouse/Keyboard controls are borderline infuriating. Luckily, I had a usb controller sitting around that I was able to use, which made the game a little more bearable.
Probably the next most annoying aspect of the game is the camera. You have no control over the camera, unlike most of the better 3rd person games released today. What this means is you may end up having a hard time seeing where you are going, or what you need to be doing. Also, when the camera changes positions, you have to train yourself to adjust the direction you are running as it will no longer be the direction you indend.
OOTP was also a very easy game. I completed it in a weekend. While i didn't find every hidden thing in the game, it just just isn't compelling enough to go back and try to find the stuff I missed.
It was fun getting to run around the castle ground, and to cast spells, but the variety of spells is a little slim, (6 combat, 6 non-combat).
If you are a Harry Potter fan, and if you have some coupons, or the game goes on sale, by all means pick this up. Its relatively entertaining, albeit short, but not worth the the full $40 MSRP price, and defiantly not for the $60 Xbox 360 price.
I'm pretty skeptical of game review sites, but they were dead on with this one...5 out of 10.

The depth of design they put into this game is amazing. You can wander anywhere in Hogwarts without any big load times. But the game play itself isn't so great. The vast size of the game has it draw backs when you need to get from one side of the grounds to another, the portraits can be useful but hard to remember where each one leads you to. Also, in order to cast spells you have to do some sort of mouse movement that can be annoying to remember and perform. Also you do not have control of the camera so it can be difficult to see things.

Despite what Amazon lists in their product listing (98/2000/XP), this game requires XP or Vista.
(The above review sat here for several weeks with no impact. Then I decided to click on the "Update Product Info" link which I hadn't seen earlier. Amazon immediately modified the product description. Too late to help me, but maybe it'll help someone else.)

I had high hopes for this game because of the first three. I thought it would be mostly the same except hopefully better graphics. I was horrified. It is extremely difficult to walk or move in any direction. I found the wand almost impossible. I couldnt direct it, let alone cast a spell. It was not engaging despite the high quality graphics. I am sticking to the first three. They had horrible graphics, but the game sucked you in and it was fun to play. Do not buy this its a waste of money!

This product did not work with 98 for us as advertised. Had to upgrade my daughters computer to XP. (Not a terrible thing, just wish I would have known that before I bought it - I probably would have looked at a different game). My daughter enjoys it very much!
Buyer beware

I probably will never know if the game is enjoyable or not because it simply will not load, and my Win XP system exceeds the specs that EA said are needed. EA tel support is nonexistent - after going through their automated call screener, you get a message announcing office hours, and that those offices are now closed for the day (even though it's 1 1/2 hours prior to the stated closing time.) I see now why this product has been so heavilly discounted.
Stick with one of the first 3 titles, buy GOF if you must, avoid OOTP like the plague!

Not too goal directed. Too much running around without being positive of the purpose. Unable to discern the list of DA prospect and the mouse control for running is very "loose" all over the place bumping into the other characters, walls, staircases. Not enough to do and a lot of running long distances for little or nothing. Spells do not work well and are disjointed in selection. The first two games were fun, the last too...not so much.
Game worth playing

I am still at the beginning, but it is a completely different game than the others. Most interesting.
Disappointing...

Figuring out the puzzles and playing Wizard Chess is fun, but there's no real fun it. Just about everything is too easy. It's not even difficult on the HARD setting. Hey, game developers! Less talk, more action!
