this game is so so SO wonderlandy! it's fantastic because it actually follows the book/movies quite a lot- you meet all the fun, kooky characters doing their weirdish things, and you get to do all the alice-y weirdish things, too! you fall down the hole, you eat mushrooms and get huge and tiny, you find keys for different sized doors, you have races and stop for silly parties. the graphics are incredible for the littleness of the gameboy- it has that disney look to it- lots of color and detail. this is my most favorite game... there's just something entirely likeable about it, even when it gets to the more difficult parts (where i'd normally start making "grr" noises) i just sit there smiling through it all. it would make a fantastic gift. and so you know, even though the game might sound like a girls-only type game, my boyfriend and brother have started playing this game as much as their "fighting, monsters, expolsions" games. it's just really, really, reeeeeally fun...

There really is a Wonderland

This game was very exciting. It put me right into the adventure of chasing the rabbit. I rate this 5 stars, because it's a great game and I would recommend it to anyone who likes these kind of games. For example. You get to play croquet with the queen, race the rabbit, and spell your name out in smoke with the caterpillar. This was a great game I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do...

This game was really fun. I think it had a lot of challenging parts to it. The one thing i really hate about it is that it is sooooooooooooo short! I got the thing at 5 o'clock last night, played it for 2 hours went to bed, played it the next day after school for 1 hour and boom! there you have it. i feel i didn't get my 32.91 dollars for it.

beautiful & impressive graphics!

rec·om·mend (rk-mnd)
v. rec·om·mend·ed, rec·om·mend·ing, rec·om·mends

1.To praise or commend (one) to another as being worthy or desirable; endorse.
2.To make (the possessor, as of an attribute) attractive or acceptable.
3.To commit to the charge of another; entrust.
4.To advise or counsel.

I could sum up my entire review with just the above definition. But instead of just trying to be witty, I will present my recommendation with the following favoring observations.

As an Alice memorabilia collector, I eagerly anticipated the release of this game.

I was (am) very impressed with the quality of the graphics. They are not only beautiful and pleasing to the eye - but also crisp and clear. Crafted well enough to not just be considered as computer graphics but also as ART. I would have loved to see this game with John Tenniel illustrations. However Disney did not do too bad of a job. :^) I have not seen a game this pretty in awhile.

The game play itself I found to be a lot of fun. You will find most of your favorite Alice characters in the game, you definitely are not cheated!

The sound is non-irritating and you just may find yourself _not_ turning the volume to mute on your gameboy. That's a first for me :)

Game play for the novice and advanced alike.

Although, it is very much like any other nintendo game - run, jump, duck ala mario bros, for me, I still find that challenging since I am very mediocre in my game playing skills! The first level is so easy that it was silly (mustard? lets not be silly?). Which lulled me into a false hope of perhaps I could easily master a game for once in my life!! Then the second level was more along the lines of turning my game boy on and off several times to start over again with full lives, But still I did not tire of the game or the sound effects.

I found the game to be a stimulating delight to play, pleasing to the senses and challenging (after level one) but not so difficult as to become extremely-throw-the-gameboy-across-the-room-frustrated (but then again I am not even close to finishing this game yet ha ha). For more experienced game players, this game is still worth the money for the beautiful graphics alone, especially if you are an Alice enthusiast.

And after I showed the game to other Alice aficianado friends, they went out and promptly bought it. The graphics are really that stunning!
(and this review is not meant to sound as pretentious as I have managed to create it to be ~oops)

I thought the game was very fun. Even though it was very short, it was still pretty good. I like it because it looks so much like the movie. I especially like the part when you use Bill the lizard with a ladder. You even get to play croquet with the Queen of Hearts. Buy it, it's fun!

this is the best

I found, as an "Alice in Wonderland" lover, that this was full of all the adventure and fun you have while watching the film. You are actually able to interact with the characters and play in Wonderland as Alice. Though difficult at times, this game can never be considered boring. Buy it today. Don't hesitate, before they are no longer available. You won't be sorry.

Alice in Wonderland for Gameboy

Although released in 2000, Disney Interactive's
"Alice in Wonderland" is another obscure, but great
game that got lost in the shuffle of overhyped games
that year. I personally have not seen the Disney
classic in 20 yrs, but playing not only brought
me up to date on classic, but like Turtles
presented another fun and entertaining ride down
memory lane. This ride too can be taken by
anyone old or young that remembers the classic movie
based on the Lewis Carroll novel.

Graphics: 10

I give the graphics in this game a solid ten.
All the characters in the game look exactly
like they did in the classic cartoon: Alice,
Queen of Hearts, Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat,
all look amazing. They just dont look a
a little bit like their cartoon counterparts,or almost,
but exactly!!! When it
comes down to making games based of their movies
Disney is king. With Nintendo in the background,
publishing this game with Disney, well, they
have proved to be a great combo. You buy
a Disney game you are buying a great game not
easily produced by any other game company.

There are several beautiful animations and cutscenes
including the 3d animation in the beginning where
Alice is sitting on a tree and then is
transported to Wonderland with help from the Rabbit
with the pocket watch. But that's just the
beginning, you'll be blown by the other
animations and scenes in the game, including
a fun level where Alice is miniatured in form
and must the Cheshire Cat levels that are roaming
with ghosts and Guards of Queen.

Sound and Music 5:

Well sound is practically nonexistent, aside
from the traditional "bleeps" and "blops"
in a game (where Alice takes damage), sound
was pretty average, but what saves it
though is the music. The music again is
wonderfully done, with some light and comical
tunes, some taken from the movie and some
new written just for the game itself.

Control 5:

"Alice in Wonderland" is a 2d platformer with
some nice 3d effects put in. As such controls
are easy. Alice, jumps, runs and in course
of the game collects items to pass through
Wonderland. Pretty simple stuff. No one should
have any problems with the controls they are
ridiculous simply and they're were made that way
so anyone could pick up the game and get into
it easily.

Challenge 3:

Ah, veteran gamers will pass the game in a hour
or 2 hrs tops, but there are a couple of close
turns in the game that will give everyone
a good challenge. Obviously kids will get
a bigger challenge in the game that the adults,
but the challenge is always fun, it's not one
of those games that will be tough on them.
As I said, it's a platformer, so there
are really no puzzles, however, there are
several items to collects and objectives to do,
so it will keep kids busy and happy for a long time.

Replay Value 8:

"Alice in Wonderland" shines in this area. This
game actually comes with a number of enjoyable
bonuses showing that Disney took their time and
made this game as best they could.
First of, if you do well enough in the game
such as collecting magical stars, you'll get
treated to several bonus levels in the game such
as a rabbit race with the rabbit with the cloak
and bonus levels with Cheshire cat.

However , in the menu for the game itself, they're
are other bonus items as well.
There's a "Where's in Wonderland" minigame
with Alice and characters in the game, which
is played in the tradition of "Where's Waldo" it's
actually not bad.
There's a "Alice's Art Gallery" bonus option where
basically you browse through the Art drawings
that obviously were used in making the game.
Very interesting as basically you get a look,
at the gaming designing process here, looking over
the art for the game such as characters, props
and creatures. They added it to so that kids

can play with the art and "cut" and "paste" basically
like a paint program. Fun and educational.

Overall 7:

Overall, this is another winner by Disney Interactive,
they've been making quality games for I don't know
, almost 20 yrs, lol, so those game critics out there
who never heard of Disney Interactive, well then
have missed a great library of games (too bad).
This is another great collectible item for the
Disney fan out there, Additionally, the game
itself as a platformer is very good and will
appeal to a wide variety of ages. It's geared
pretty much to kids, but older kids will like the
game as well.

Lastly, this is the only "Alice in Wonderland", they're
a couple out there. The Turbografx system had one,
Commodore 64 had one and I believe's there a pc
version out there somewhere, so if you want
to immerse yourself more in the "Alice In Wonderland"
universe, check out those games too.

Alice In Wonderland is a great game for kids. You basicly relive parts of the movie. In the begining you play Alice and you fall down the hole. After that you go through a few levels. In the levels you encounter enimies, keys, and items. The game is pretty short but I think it would make a great gift for any Alice In Wonderland fans, collectors and kids. I would reccomed this for car rides and vacations. Hope you enjoy!

Great Game for "Alice" Fans

This is a pretty decent adaptation of the classic Disney movie. This game is definitely geared towards kids, as it is simple and not very lengthy, but older fans should enjoy Alice as well. I personally have always enjoyed the Disney-based games, and Alice In Wonderland was one of my favorite Disney movies. I thought the puzzles were fun to solve, and talking to the Wonderland inhabitants was a treat. I actually had just finished playing American McGee's Alice on the computer, and felt like something a bit cheerier, and it accomplished that. If you're an adult, and don't care for Alice, than you probably won't get a whole lot out of this game. Since the game plays out almost exactly as the movie, you almost have to be a fan to enjoy it.

I was rather impressed by the graphics, though. It wasn't strictly a side scroller...some levels you got to move Alice in all directions (up, down, left, right). I thought the characters looked really good, as well. The cut scenes looked almost as good as the movie, and for only being 8-bit, I think the makers did a great job with the characters, scenery, and animation. Of course, with technology today, I guess this only makes sense, but some Gameboy Color games aren't very impressive in my in my opinion. Often I find the faces on the characters average, if not below average. But the graphics on Alice are clear, and well designed.

If you're a Disney or an Alice fan, I would recommend this game. It was well-made, and the plot follows the movie well, so it's definitely a good choice for fans. I particulary enjoyed the music, which even though it was just the old-fashioned Midi-like sound, I enjoyed hearing some of my favorite songs from the film. All in all, Alice In Wonderland is a great game for kids and fans, and if you don't fit into the category, you should probably shop for another game.
