Prince of Portability

Purchasing this game for Gameboy was a compulsion arising from early days before anyone had heard of a Pentium Processor. Now, with the antiqued computer game given new birth on the portable console, I must say that I was relieved to find the game play very similiar. The Prince of Persia plays off the well known tale of Jaffar and Aladdin, only in this non-Disney movie, Aladdin must stop Jaffar from taking the Sultan's kingdom and daughter. To do this, he must escape thirteen different, meandering dungeons in which he is a prisoner. It is a shining example of how a 2-D game should be laid out, with multiple levels for the character to climb and jump, traps to catch those not paying enough attention, and glorious sword fights with an AI who is not predictable. There is also a password feature that allows the user to put down and pick up the game whenever desired, useful for the fact that the game, all thirteen levels combined, has a time limit. The game can be played in six different languages, so hopefully the player knows at least one of them. The most appealing characteristic of The Prince of Persia is the fluid movement of the elements in each level. Indeed eyes will water even at the opening scene as they watch the Princess' dress whirl about her while she turns to face Jaffar. Keeping this game out of the five star bracket however, is the fact that after a while the gameplay can get repetetive. The best way to counter this is to put it down for a few hours and come back later. This game promises great entertainment for the user and is a great buy. By far it is one of the best values for portable color game system, if not one of the best games.

I have had this game for a little while and I haven't even gotten to the third level! Basically you go around and fight the guards, they are almost impossible to beat! You get passwords for the thirteen levels and you can play it in 6 different languages. Overall it is an okay game if you are looking for something that will take you a long time to beat!

I love this game quite a lot. I own all the Prince of Persia games for all the systems. Anyway, I suggest you try and find this game. There are 12 levels. (Some people call the level where you fight jaffar and save the princess as two separate levels. This is not true. If you played the Mac or PC version, it will clearly say, "LEVEL 12" for both.)This game is cool.
