Another Racing Game Where Skill Doesn't Apply :o (

I'm really disappointed so many people gave this a good review. There seems to be only 4 levels (not much) and only the haunted level is worth looking at (at least to me). Each of the 4 courses has 3 difficulty settings and they inaccurately named; short, middle and long (I may be off because I just snapped my disk and I can't go back to take a look). Where they went wrong is it should have been labeled definitely doable, doable and rip off. I really had no problem with this game until I found out I couldn't beat the long levels. Every time like clock work I would start out behind, work my way to first on the last stretch only to have some miraculous character catch me from behind and physically abuse me to pass me. Oh, and the other neat thing is there are PC characters at the side of the race that run across and grab you and only you. Also ghosts will attach themselves to you to make you run at half speed while all the other guys run by and no ghosts go after them. All in all, this is a grief game with really bad AI. As a software engineer I can say this game could have been much better but they obviously weren't interested in making a great game. Hopefully this is a much more accurate review of the game.

Fun game with 3 or more people

This game is really wacky with 3 or more people. I played it against the computer and I never can win. I am glad that I really purchased the game. It's definetly different than the other dreamcast games that I have!

Fun for Little Ones

My son has most of the titles on the Dreamcast (a few for Dad too), but my four year old daughter was left out until we bought PenPen. She loves the different wacky characters and has no problem making them waddle, hop, swim, and slide. She even beats the other members of the family at it. A great way to share the Dreamcast with a little one!

Highly addictive!

Really cute game...obviously targeted at kids. But what could be better than putting down Soul Caliber for a few minutes and inviting your kid to play a game with you? My 5 year old loves it! It can be very engrossing for adults, too. Definitely a "must-have" for your library.

Simple, easy and fun

There aren't many games out for the Dreamcast that young children can play easily. PenPen is better than Sonic for ease of game play. The cute, bright characters really light up a child's eye... and it can be fun for an adult too!

Fun family game

Perhaps too cute and strange to appeal to the hard-core gaming crowd, but if you're looking for a game for your new Dreamcast that Aunt Marge and little Timmy can and will play, this is it.

There are 4 different race courses, through which your Pen Pen will slide, swim, and walk. Each course has its own decor (candy, toys, jungle and spooky) and there are different characters to choose from (the big fat ones slide well, the scrappy little guys run well, etc).

Goofy, trippy, quick to pick up, and fun, but without a lot of depth.

I love fun, simple and non-violent games so I thought this would be a great game. Well it wasn't! The grapics were alright however the characters were difficult to control, especially to try to get them jump was almost impossible. The only skill it required was pushing the buttons in the right sequence to get the characters to move. There were few obstacles and it became boring VERY quickly.

Perfect game for young kids

This is the perfect game for young kids. great graphics, neat characters, cool music. However, for older gamers this game is too easy and too short. If you have kids buy Pen-Pen and play it with them.

What's wrong with these cartoon characters!

they are bright, flourescent colours and happy creaturesrunning randomly around. Geez...did the game creators drink a badbatch of cosmic cherry Kool-Aid, or what? Still...this game is kinda neat! END

Lots of fun, especially for kids, but very short.

Pen Pen is a very simple game: just swim, slide and waddle your way to the finish line. But "simple" doesn't necessarily mean "boring", and Pen Pen is anything but boring; there's lots of crazy features on the courses to spice things up. The straightforward gameplay and cartoony graphics make the game very approachable for children; but adults will like it to, if they can get past the overbearing cuteness of it all.

The real problem with Pen Pen is its length; there's only a few tracks, and while each track can be played in a variety of different ways, you'll still go through all the possibilities in very short order. This won't matter as much if you have friends to play against; but if you're playing it alone, you may find it becoming monotonous before too long.
