The Game is good I have played before but the installable in this CD will not work any version of windows other than 95 and 98. This is crap... I dont know how many people are using 98 Windows still, my purchase is waste as I can't change OS for this.
Very, very tricky...

My initial excitement for this game was soon squashed by the frustration brought about by the realization that the later missions are essentially very complex puzzles that require a linear approach and split-second timing. I like the concept of team members with a different array of skills and equipment, with the spy and the sniper being personal favorites. (Although the need to limit the sniper's ammunition is understandable from a play-balancing perspective it seems very unrealistic to suggest that a soldier could only carry five bullets.) The team roles however add to the frustration, since the death of any member will cause you to fail a mission. Your team members seem to die distressingly early and often, so one may feel obligated to save accordingly. This merely compounds the difficulty and frustration of the later missions. I soon realized that this game just wasn't fun anymore.
Difficult game, but fun for those who try.

This game can get very hard at times but like any good game of chess it takes strategic planning in order to win. You have 6 characters in the game and each has their own skill. The purpose is to use each man together with their skills to achieve your mission. The game is tough but it is also time consuming as well as fun. The game is based during WWII in which your men go in Nazi camps and sabotage, rescue, kidnap, assassinate, etc. This game is not for everyone especially for those who get easily frustrated, it takes patience and planning to win. I recommend playing a downloaded demo to see how you like it before actually buying it. The price has reduced so i would recommend buying one now or wait as they might combine the two commando titles in one to resell.

This is an excellent 2D war game. 3D games sometime give me a headache. Two thumbs up.
I did notice a bug in one of it's missions where I couldn't escape even after finishing the mission.

Your looking for a new game right? But, your sick and tired of being bored with your new game by the end of the weekend. Not with this game my friend. You control 2-6 commandos during each mission using each commandos unique abilities to wreak havoc and mayhem on the German Army. The missions start off fairly easy, but watch out! The missions become more and more difficult as the game progresses. This game is not for someone looking for a relaxed WWII sim game. Missions can take a few hours to complete, and there's more than one way to complete each mission. I highly recommend this game for the person who enjoys a challenging(very challenging) game combined with a great storyline.

I play many different war games, and I have to say this is one of the best that I have played. The graphics and story line are very good. The control of the players is a little difficult at first however if you do the training that they have it is very easy to pick up how to move the players. Well take many hours to complete the whole game successfully. Which I think makes it well worth the money.
Very Cool Game

When I first played commandos, I got murdered in about five minutes. After a little while, though, I was getting better. By the time I finished the first two levels (out of 30), not only was I very familiar with the interface, but I was also gripped by the game itself. Commandos is an incredible game. It is a real-time action/adventure game where you control 2-6 characters in geurilla type missions. The missions follow the story line of World War II and the missions take place in Norway, North Africa, France, and Germany. The real plus here is that the game is very historically accurate. This makes the game even more interesting. The only drawback to this game (and for a lot of people, it isn't a drawback) is that it is very tough. The later missions get very hard, so some people may lose interest in the game. The plus to this is that the game lasts that much longer. This is not a game that one could finish in a weekend. Finally, Commandos comes with a multi-player feature so you can run missions with others via the internet or LAN. Overall, I think that this is a great game!

Really fun game and a real challenge. Once you learn how to decently move around you will be at your computer for hours going through the missions. Some missions arn't as easy as others however, so you will need some patience. It is very satisfying once you learn how to use all your men. Having the spy distract a guard while the Green Beret slits his throat, or popping out of the water with the marine and harpooning an unsuspecting German makes for some good entertainment. If you like this game, I'd also recommend Hidden and Dangerous. It's similar but with a first person view.

To the guy who posted this only works on 95 and 98 only, don't install it, it will not install but copy the commandos folder (the fold that has all the game, not the install stuff) to your hard drive and run the "commandos.exe" then u should have no problems, cuz it works fine on my computer
EDIT:When you insert the CD, the install menu should show up. Close that.
Then open "my computer" in there you should see your CD in your D drive called "COMMANDOS_EARLY" or "COMM_BEL" or what ever depends on the verisons
Right click that and select "Explore"
Once in the folder you should see an AOL, COMANDOS, CPATROL, DEMOS, DIRECTX, DXMEDIA, EREG, INSTALL, MANUAL - Folders
Select the commandos folder and drag it to your desktop.
Once your computer has copied the commandos folder to your desktop, open it and right click "commandos.exe" and select "properties" then in there, there should be two tabs "general" and "compatibility" select "compatibility" and click on the box that says
"Run this program in compatibly mode for:" and then set it to windows 98.
And after you're done with everything close everything and double click the "commandos.exe"

Commandos is a good game. It is unlike any other. It has goodAI and level design. It is fun and challenging. However, it says it ishistorically accurate, but is actually pretty wrong. For example, the Green Berets (like the one on the cover) weren't even existing during WWII. The game is still cool.
Five starz! * * * * *
