Interesting Idea but Sloppily Executed

Firstly, I hate starforce protection. Even though it hardly ever gives me problems, I hate it on behalf of the people that can't get it to work right. But that doesn't affect the game itself, and good copy protection is almost non-existent even today.

The game itself is very interesting. The storyline is stock, but told decently well through cutscenes, but the world the story takes place in is really really interesting. It's like Unreal Tournament on crack...and on TV. The champion fights are fun and add some needed strategy to the game. The shooting mechanics are nice and feel appropriate to the game and the weapon loadouts add another dimension to the otherwise vanilla gameplay. The graphics are great, the voiceovers suck in a good funny way, and the game itself runs fine and is fun to play. The idea of having to repair/reload at a money cost mid-mission is very frantic and helps add urgency to the "war".

I recommend this game to all my shooter-loving friends, but in the end most people didn't enjoy this game for some reason. I liked it a lot, though, for the budget title that it is.

be warned...

this game is kinda cool, like unreal tournament assults eventually reaching a one on one, televised deathmatch at a certain point of a mission. But as you progress in the game, it gets frustratingly hard!

If you like a REAL FPS gaming challange, this is the game for you!

Starforce... need I say more?

This game utilizes the Starforce copy protection system. It manifests itself onto your computer and slows it down/disables certain things. Even uninstalling the game doesn't take off Starforce... it stays on your system, hidden as a device driver. After I installed it (unknowingly and unwillingly), it removed some installation rights on Windows... and I'm the only one that uses my computer.

The game itself is fair. Once you get it to run (if at all once you get Starforce to let you play), the story is mildly interesting, but the gameplay is very repetitive. AI isn't that good... they just sort of stand there, waiting to get shot. Sounds are a little annoying. Graphics are very good, ignoring the human models who look like their skin was dipped in chrome.

If you're willing to take the risk of ruining your system with Starforce and are into repetitive shooters, this would be a good way to spend $10. If not, don't waist your money.
