When I fist heard of this game I had to get it. Its AWSOME 3D graphics makes you feel like your flying over an airport. Sign with over 200 airlines and create you airport empire!

This is the worst PC game out today

One of the biggest mistakes of my life was purchasing this travesty of computer programming. It runs terribly, and I have a new 533 system. The time frame is not paced, and the options are not as smooth as the package promotes. Bad production indeed! And the biggest factor that it fails to anywhere close to fun.

The Worst of the Worst

The first tycoon game I played was Ski Resort Tycoon 2, which was fabulous. I wanted then to try another tycoon game, so I installed this game. I read a review from the PC section of [website] and they said this game was terrible. I thought to myself, "You get to build your own airport, how bad can that be." Evidently very bad. The graphics are worse than horrible-very pixely. When using the tutorial, you have no control over the game, so basically, the game is completing the tutorial for you. So, I tried playing the actual game. I got as far as buy land for my airport. After that, I tried to set down the first piece, but they wouldn't allow me to do that. So, I tried all of the other pieces, none of them worked. I then went back to the tutorial and found out that it would take literally about 20 min. until the tutorial got to the place where I need the help. Well, I could go on all day about how awful this game is, but I won't. The only good thing about this game is that the IDEA of building an airport is cool. They just failed to make it playable. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!

When I bought this game I thought it was going to be fun. But I was disapointed. The only way to play is the pre-made games. If you don't you can't even build a control tower. No tower no flights. In otherwords DON'T BUY THIS GAME!

I Just Bought This Game, Get This: I had to restart my computer 5 times, each time I ran this game it broke down, crashed, or froze! I am sooooo dissapointed. The farthest I got was at least a minute into the game. I don't know if this game is a defective, I'll probably go out and buy a new one and see if it works.

Unique, Fun, but also Frustrating

My favorite games are buisness sims, strategies, and simulation games. Airport Tycoon was unique and a nice addition of the Tycoon genre which was spinning out of control with worthless games. You could handle passengers as well as cargo.
You were in charge of creating and managing an airport. You were given freedom (not total) to design your airport and build certain rooms for expample security and stores. The gates you placed were more like plop against the wall and add a tarmac. The main room with the ticket handling was frustrating. If you didnt have enough ticket booths you were constantly adding more than 100 in one room and it seemed rediculous. In a real airport you saw the different ticket booths for the airline and the conveyor belt behind the ticket agent. It would of been nice to see poeple come in with luggage and checking it in. The realism while lacking and the gameplay sometimes frustrating, Airport Tycoon had this appeal that kept you playing for a few hours. My favorite was seeing the airplanes being serviced on the tarmac and the planes taxingand taking off. Outside of the airport besides deciding what continent, and city you choose to put your airport you were also given the options of seeting up parking lots, parking garages, gas stations as well as hotels. While this was the first Airport Tycoon, I would of liked more refined graphics and realism such as cars actually parking in the lots, people being dropped off by taxis (you could also put taxi stands along the road), and a layout similar to airports today, where they have terminals and seperate unloading areas for passengers to get out of cars and taxis and check in their luggage. Just like in real life also, it would be nice to see actual roads that have signs telling you were to go, what terminals, arriving and departing flights as well as lifelike baggage claims when passengers come off of the planes and try to retrieve their luggage (you know that annoying sound with the red blinking light alerting you the baggage is coming). This would add more employees (the ones handling the luggage and putting the luggage into the baggage claim. I always wish that monitors or large signs showing arriving and departing flights with the flight numbers and whether or not the flight is on time, delayed or due to weather; cancelled. I also like to see live gates with actual gate numbers, desks, waiting areas, and announcements as well as final boarding calls and tickes being checked and watching people go into the thing that is attached at the gate to the plane (cant remeber the name of it).
This was a nice game, decent buisness model, little frustrating at times, and was looking foward to the sequel hoping their would be improvements. Unfortunatley #2 was terrible, and #3 was a slight improvement over the sequel but wasnt as good as the first one. So it went downhill after the original Airport Tycoon. AT was promising but unfortunately, its sequels burried it.

A very good idea for a game. There's a lot of room for improvement, different ways to play the game, etc. Nothing will ever be the same. Unfortunately, it's very predictable. It's quite capitalistic-like, but too extreme. The game starts off by giving you NO business so you're in the red. This can be overcome by little initial spending. Soon after this turn for the worse - business is booming! Contracts coming from all over the place. THEN...you experience a drought that is impossible to overcome with NO explanation. This has happened to me multiple times with no remedy.

I haven't been able to play this game yet as it, apparently, only instals on a windows 95/98/me system. I have an XP and it won't even open the install applet to install it. When I get around to setting my 98SE back up I will try it on there and then maybe I will have something to say about the game play of this game.

All right, but could use ALOT of fixing up

It's fairly good but there are major flaws. First of all, When you opened a saved game, all the planes you had at youre airport are gone. Also, there is a limit on how many runways you can have, the flights are never on time, the game simulation time is very slow, the tutorial takes literally 40 min., and declined companies keep coming back. It's ok, but there are better things you can buy.

Good but not the Best

Airport Tycoon is good but not the best for a couple of reasons.
Its good for graphics collection of types of buildings, and sounds. Bad things are the whole point of the game, "Management" There are problems I have had. Only 4 runways... please most airports like Hartsfield in Atlanta have more than that. It is hard getting the rating of my airport up. After putting a successful airport for around 7 years on the game, it still give me the ' ' face. It is too complicated to raise it to a happy
'
- face to me. It is a good game, but things in the management portion of the game need to be improved. Hire Electronic Arts or Infogrames to do this game.
