One of my favorites for this system

Tetris Attack actually has little to do with the original Tetris except for the name. The object is to clear the blocks that keep rising in your screen by lining up a minimum of three of the same kind. Sound easy? It might be at first, but the longer you play the faster it goes and the harder it gets.

This game was the first one I bought when I bought my system a couple years back. For the first week, I was addicted, even seeing the screen in my sleep. It's still one of my favorites. When I'm looking to relax, I stick this game in and enjoy.

If you've never given Tetris Attack a chance, you're in for a treat. Get a copy of the game today and enjoy the puzzle.

THIS GAME IS THE BEST GAME EVER (next to Shanghai of course). This game is so much fun and very addictive. My Brother (31) and I (28) have competitions whenever we are on the same side of the US and I we have so much fun. It really depends on hand-eye soordination and fast thinking. Even the one player modes are excellent. This is definitely the best version of Tetris. It may look like a kids game, but it is perfect for adults.

This is the best!

Definately the best puzzle game ever. I can beat it no problem on extra hard mode though! For an even harder version (really hard) of the same thing, try Pokemon Puzzle League on the N64!

The best puzzle game ever!

I rented this when it first came out, after hearing about it in Nintendo Power Magazine. I played it, and soon after recieved it as a birthday gift, one which my mom was pleased to give me since it was something we could both do together.

Although it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the original Tetris, it is still a great game, with a two player mode, computer vs. mode with dificulty ranging from easy to the secret very hard mode (found with a code given after completing hard mode), an endless (go till you lose) mode, a story mode (clear a certain amount of blocks), and a puzzle mode.

If you like puzzle games that last for a long time, prepare to be pleased by one of the last great games for SNES. I believe that there is a Pokemon game for N64 similar to this if you no longer or never have had a SNES, which is a good alternative, I suppose (although I am getting sick of Pokemon).

I can play this game for hours, when I do play it. I never get tired of competing with myself, seeing if I can do it faster, or last longer. I can feel my hand/eye co-ordination improve, after playing this game. I love the puzzle games the best.

Fun puzzler that needs strategy.

This is a very fun game to play multiplayer. The story mode is alright, and the hard mode is _very_ hard. It has training levels, and more than one training level style. Depending on the speed setting you choose this game can be easy, challenging or impossible. If you still play your super nintendo and don't have Tetris Attack, I definitely recommend this game. Very fun times!

An excellent puzzle game

For over a decade, the Tetris craze has inspired countless sequels, spanning just about every video game system out there. One of these was the 1996 game Tetris Attack. Was this game just another clone of the original, or was it something radically unique and fun to play? Read on and find out!

PROS:
-The graphics here are bright and colorful - just what you need for this sort of game.
-To give the game a storyline, Nintendo put it characters from Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island.

-There are a number of play modes - Endless, Puzzle, Versus, Story, and several others too.
-Being able to play against a friend is an excellent feature that every puzzle game should have.
-The difficulty level is adjustable.

CONS:
-No puzzle game can hold your attention forever.
-If you're like me and you HATED Yoshi's Island, the characters from the game can get on your nerves at times.
-This game, like all Super Nintendo titles, is now out of print. For anyone who cares, it was rehashed and rereleased in recent years, but with Pokemon characters.

OVERALL:
This is an excellent puzzle game - no questions asked. It's NOT simply a Tetris clone - it's so much more (in fact, it's pretty different from Tetris, so I'm surprised they even used that name!) If you're a Super Nintendo owner, give this one a try.

Tetris: The New Class

This game was released about ten or twelve years ago on the Super Nintendo and gameboy. Read another review to see about how they repackaged this game for Nintendo 64.

A new kind of Tetris. Should it be called Tetris? Yes! It's good enough.

Concept/Gameplay: This game gives a new concept to the Tetris. There are many out there now, and this may be one of the first innovations. Tetris 2?I do not know. The concept uses two crosshair squares which are used to switch block orders. You want to switch block orders in rows or/and columns(not in Tetris) of three or more to remove blocks and not die similar to Tetris and/or Dr. Mario. You can (should) make combos to remove many blocks at once...it's complicated! Speeds go faster too.

Another thing to note is that the blocks go up instead of fall down. There is no bricklaying like tetris. It is all done for you, and you must clean up the mess as blocks continue to move up gradually to quickly.

There is a tutorial for beginners and people who want to improve. This is a good feature to have. It shows a lot of possible combos and how to begin, and very detailed and shows everything exactly.

There are few game modes. Including multiplayer which is one of the best features...it is fun to compete with a friend. There is simply stages where you must eliminate all blocks a certain way in a a few turns, free play(play for forever), and stages(play for a certain amount of time and it gets more difficuly with time). Each level changes once you beat a certain amount of sections. You get to see a new screen and hear a new song. as you progress through levels.

There is also a password system to get back where you left off on the "few moves mode" or the "stage" mode. This is a nice feature. However, I'm not sure if there are unlockables yet.

Good concept/gameplay...it is a 5/5. A good alteration.

Graphics: Graphics barely matter in a puzzle game like this, but there are many colors, shapes, and characters that are pretty and attractive. Making Tetris Attack good to a solely superficial person. Characters are from Super Mario 2 Yoshi's Island...the attractive art of Super Mario World 2 carries on in this game.

4.5/5...A great, but recycled artwork/graphics. Truly beautiful like Candyland. I love this as a superficial person.

Music/Sounds: I really like the music in this game. My friend has said one of the songs sound like, "Sounds like a funeral and happiness...what the heck?!" This may be a bad thing, but I like it. Also one of the songs has a killer bass line. It's quite funny. Most of the songs have an upbeat feel minus the funeral one(the monkey stage).

Now for the sounds...the sound of the game all feels right. Although, some of the sound effects may be annoying to people. I find them to be quite humorous...especially the kid shouting, "Yeah!"

Sound: 5/5...this really depends, but the sound mix is all good. I enjoy the soundtrack. But, be aware of ANNOYING sounds.

This game is also "easy to learn, but hard to master." It is an essential game and very addictive. I'd recommend it to many people. The only wrinkle would be the perhaps more play modes. Howver, it so good the way it is.
