I'm not really into racing games, actually I don't really like... But since this game came with the PS3 I bought some months ago, I have to admit I have played a lot. I really liked the game, The graphics are fantastic, the races are fun (it's something between and simulator and an arcade) and the game play is fantastic. The only con is that there are only 8 tracks (with several ways each, but only 8)and no multi-player off-line. Anyway, I think it's a worthy I try. I liked it.
Be aware: It's a really hard game, some casual players may get bored.

Motor Storm is a really fun racing game....Will it stand up to the GT series games, maybe not, but, if you like mud/dirt track, and dune buggy type racing, it's a fun game!
Pro's:
It's fun knocking other racers off the track, the graphics are really good, overall gameplay is great, and easy to use the controller, high jumps, turbo -boost feature, dirt, mud on camera lens...etc etc
Con's:
As much fun as the game is (initially), I have a feeling it might get boring after a while...
Then again, some people really LOVE racing games, and might think otherwise...just my opinion! :)
Great graphics, but gets redundant.

Great graphics, but after a while all the tracks look the same and the vehicles get old.

Although I am an Xbox 360 owner I still whenever I can check out games on other platforms like I want to try Heavenly Sword and the new Ratchet and Clank. However, when I sat down to play this game I wasn't impressed by much. The graphics looked pretty but the gameplay didn't offer much even in it's destructive racing action. The racing grows tired quickly and I found myself getting bored by it's mediocre combat racing which feels more in vain of the mediocre Full Auto, instead of the intense and addicting action of games like Burnout and Flatout. Unless you just absolutely cannot wait for the new and exciting Burnout Paradise you may purchase this game, but seriously, just wait for Burnout instead.
One of the best racing games available for 1 player

I have never liked racing games but the beauty of Motorstorm sold me, plus the unbelievable physics in the game. The simple yet full of fun gameplay is addictive and the variety of vehicles makes racing the same tracks fun and not that monotonous. Online is great and 12 players at once is really fun. All of that said, if they had implemented the 2-8 player offline option it would've made this game even better. Still, this is probably the only racing game I'll get for the PS3.
Intense fun

I have had the game for a few weeks now and really like it. The graphics are great and the sound track is just as intense as the gameplay and really gets you into the mood of the game. The courses are demanding and require your focused attention to win. An error usually sends you off a cliff or exploding into a boulder or other obstacle. At first I used the SIXAXIS controls, but it was too hard to make fine adjustments, especially for motorcycles. You can buy additional tracks from the Playstation store in case you get bored with the ones that came with the game.
My biggest problem with the game is that there is no 2-player mode (you can play on-line, but not with someone in the room). Also, there is no option to turn the soundtrack off which could annoy people who have to hear the same songs over and over.

Great package! I am a new PS3 player. Challenging racing with numerous racing vehicles in contant changing terrain. I love the number of different vehicles available to a new player. I can't stop playing trying to win each race with a different vehicle. I can't wait for the next version. The experiences are all so realistic in this version.
Great game, get it NOW!!!!!

Graphics are good, tracks are very large which makes for a fun game in general - but the vehicles are way too sensitive. Seems like every little mistake causes a flip or explosion requiring a do-over. Gets annoying fairly quickly.
What's here is good, but the game lacks split screen, more game modes, and more tracks

This game is beautiful and easy to control. The graphics, effects, and crashes are all incredible. The variety of vehicles, and especially, the way the different vehicles force you to tackle the tracks in a new way each time is really clever. The small cars and bikes can't hold their own on the low track because the realistic mud and giant trucks, so you have to stick to the high road to master the race. The boosts are really fun, and the out of control collisions that happen when you get to greedy with the boost is sweet. There is a pretty steep learning curve to get the hang of steering, boosts, and how to use each vehicle.
The online works well, but there are only 8 total tracks, and everything is a race: no other modes. Most disappointingly, there's no local multiplayer so you cant play split screen with your buddies in the room.
You can get this game for under 20 bucks at gamestop used nowadays, so i think its worth buying for that.
The sequel, Pacific Rift, provides completely new jungle environments (something lacking in the first: variety of envir.) and it has split screen, 16 tracks, and you can play your own music in it!! It seems its goal is to fix everything disappointing about the first. I'm excited for it, but not excited for the 60 dollar price tag
