I have been a Delta Force Fan from the First Delta Force 1 game. I found this to be a let down, although there was a slight feeling of nostalgia for about the first 5 seconds of each game. Even after so many years there are game flaws (enemy soldiers that fire through walls - first aid boxes marked on the overview head up display but don't appear in person). I found the game extremely easy too and not in the least bit challenging.... Even the mulitplayer games have very few people on it's servers (you cant even snipe in games where people are using automatic weapons on the Nova games !!!) If I had known how bad this game was I would have avoided it and dusted off my old copy of DF1, it might be dated but it is far more exciting and playable !!!
A poor remake

I've been a Delta Force gamer for many years and have upgraded to almost every new version. This one left me dissapointed. So much so that I don't even play it (have stuck with Joint Ops instead.)
frustrating!

The graphics in this game are very good but the single player gameplay can be very frustrating. Each time you are killed (which happens alot due to basically one shot and your dead) you respawn each time way back and have to traverse across the map all the way back over and over. It gets to the point where you die, then just hold down your run key, close your eyes and take a little nap until you get back to the waypoint again... very frustrating and that gets a little dull. And there's no way to save your game at all! No quick saves at all.
Also, the AI is completely mindless in this game. They just stand in one place most of the time until you pick them off. And, there doesn't seem to be a lot of people playing this game online either. Just about all the public servers have zero people in the maps, especially the deathmatch maps. Battlefield 2 is a lot more fun. I think I might be giving up on novalogic and switching over to EA with Battlefield 2.
A step backwards from BHD

Got this as a presumed update to Nova's Black Hawk Down, which had some of the graphics and vehicle features of the more complex, multiplayer Joint Ops, but with the more streamlined play of BHD. I've been disappointed.
First off, this seemed to be a bigger drain on the graphics card than even JO, which I would think is more complex, with a little bit of stutter in some of the frame rates.
Second, and more frustrating, was the departure from the user interface of DF/BHD - in particular the sight picture of every weapon, particularly the sniper rifles is a huge step backwards.
All and all, after migrating from BHD to JO to DFX, I'm back to playing multiplayer BHD while I await something better. Probably a good buy for $20, but not if you already have BHD or prefer multiplayer play.
Basically a great online arcade game

This is a revamp from novalogic of Deltaforce, but with updated graphics and the cool drivable/flyable vehicles from Joint operations. However there are some very backwards steps as well. The player classes are gone and there is a very limited weapons choice compared to previous DF releases. You can no longer select what your soldier looks like either. Also snipers beware = novalogic have dumbed down the sniper rifles so there is no more use of bullet drop, or ranging the scope. Also crosshairs no longer expand or contract with your movement or stance, each weapon has a set bullet spread and thats it. this is really more of an arcade Joint operations than a whole new tactical edge in the series. Oh and for the reviewer who said there is no extra ammo? pick up a blue box (marked on your map) its FULL of ammo. red boxes give health.
Now the sinlge player mode is somewhat limited - the enemy AI is awful as is their aim. The entire enemy tactic is to either charge in a straight line at you, or stand in the open and blaze away at you. However this is forgivable as the real idea behind the single player is to get used to the weapons and vehicles for where this game really shines: Multiplayer.
With up to 32 players on novaworld, this game is a frantic rush of online lunacy. Grab a gun and go, switch to rockets and let the fragfest commence. With all the extra maps available and some great online communities this is where DFE really rocks. With 5 game types there is good and challenging variety, and the use of vehicles and helicopters adds to the fun. Again those of us who are decent snipers will hate the basic any n00b can use it sniper rifles, but if you are new to online FPS then you will find this game a lot more easier to get to grips with than the other DF releases from novalogic. Also beware that graphics can be glitchy in the extreme (even with all settings on low) on full servers and custom maps.
My 5 stars for fun relates to online play, but 3 stars overall becasue of the limitations - give us back the weapons and classes novalogic!

Concidering this game is an istallment of the great Delta Force series, Xtreme was a disappointing experiense. It does not carry the great selection of weapons and characters like it's predecessors, and the missions are rather boring. If you like Delta Force games, and want to keep liking them, STAY CLEAR of Delta Force Xtreme. It does not deserve to be compared to earlier Delta Force games.
nice!

This game is fun! I loved the original Delta Force, so if you liked that you will probably like this too. They just ported all the missions and stuff to the Joint Ops engine---if you have ever played Joint Ops, all the gun models, etc. will look familiar. HUGE DRAW DISTANCES AND MAPS!!! even bigger than far cry. online play is fun, kinda like Joint Ops only without the control points. Graphics are pretty good, there is a nice water reflection effect. plays fine on my p4 2.5ghz, 512mb ram, geforce4mx.
Gameplay: 4/5... fun, but kinda outdated
Graphics: 5/5... good, not as good as half life 2, but these maps are HUGE so that is to be expected
Sound: 3/5... eh its ok
AI: 3/5... pretty simple, but they can aim. not much different from the AI in the original Delta force actually.
Online & Mulitplayer: 5/5... good gameplay rather like Joint Ops, plus you can play all the missions in co-op mode. YAY!
Overall: 4/5... Defintley worth the money at only 20 bucks
Good Game But Too Short

Though this game is very fun to play, it is also very short (20 single player missions). But the multiplayer is also fun. This game is short because the company didnt spend too much time on this. If you loved delta force 1, you will love this even more. If you just want to play the single player missions then you should rent this game. There also might be an expansion for it. Anyways deffinetly try this game out.
Still the Best

Novalogic's DFX is very good. They need to come out with a version DFX2 and fix a few glitches, and add the medical kit to it. But for FPS contemporary military enjoyment... this rocks. Great graphics.
The Mission Editor is easy to use and makes this game timeless, like all of the previous Delta Force games from NovaLogic.

DF Xtreme is an excellent 1st person shooter game. Nothing real fancy about the game's graphics though, a fairly basic graphics card is all you need. That doesn't mean that the game isn't FUN! LOTS of action, both in single play and especially multiplayer mode. Good selction of weapons as well as map editing for making your own scenarios.
