Excellent Puzzle/RPG hybrid

It's two addictive games in one! Puzzle Quest blends the puzzle gameplay of 'bejeweled' into an RPG setting with quests, an epic story, etc. I find that the use of the puzzle game for combat (or any other task such as crafting, researching or capturing) is very satisfying. There's also a lot you can do. Siege cities to add them to your empire and reap the benefits financially, capture creatures to learn their special abilities, tame mounts and train them to higher levels, buy and even craft your own items, choose from four character classes, befriend companions to help you in battle and train up 7 different skills. There's undoubtedly a lot more I haven't discovered yet. I have also heard the multiplayer is well done, but have not had the opportunity to try it yet. This game is just a must buy.
RPG fun

I love RPGs and like puzzle games (but don't love them). Puzzle Quest's unique combat system uses a head-to-head connect four-ish style game (the "puzzle" component of this game) which I found fresh and perfect for a handheld game. I purchased this to play on a long international flight... and I'm still hooked. If you're looking for a fun RPG for your DS, look no further.
Fun, light, quick, and wholely addictive

This game is a fusion of "Bejeweled" plus a fantasy RPG. Mostly Bejeweled. The weird part is, I don't really like Bejeweled, it's too boring and one-dimensional (figuratively speaking), but I love Puzzle Quest. Yes, the plot is stereotypical, the quests all similar, the puzzles highly repetitive -- and yet somehow it works brilliantly. I particularly enjoy the spell-casting aspects of the gameplay, as well as the "side games" (more Bejeweled variants) to upgrade your mount or learn new spells. A game that has a meatier RPG aspect and multiple puzzle types for combat would be a better game, but Puzzle Quest does what it tries to do very well (make Bejeweled interesting & fresh), so I definitely recommend it to gamers who enjoy puzzle games and RPGs.
Great game for killing time

I got this game because I wanted a puzzle/bejeweled type game. The RPG part caught me by surprise and it was an awesome plus. The story is a bit corny, but the idea of an RPG + Bejeweled is just priceless. I love how you can go against so many different opponents and there are a few side quests which is great if you just want to kill time. This game is perfect to have if you like a simple puzzle game to play around with every now and then.
Not what I expected

This game is puzzle meets warrior. It is not what I expected when I purchased a puzzle game. You have to collect points to advance etc. You have to invest a lot more time than I am willing to get very far in the game, not the type you can just pick up occasionally and enjoy.
Endless game of Bejeweled

When I bought this game I was under the impression it consisted of a series of DIFFERENT puzzles. My fault for not doing enough researach. This game is a mind numbing endless game of Bejeweled. At least in regular RPGs when you get to a higher level the lower level characters are easy to beat and a fight doesn't last that long. This game however, takes an endless amount of time to complete a fight no matter what your level. I don't understand why there are so many high ratings on this game. If you like the idea of playing bejeweled over and over and over and over then you will like this game. There is no challenge and the story line is non existent.
Good, not great puzzle game

This game is pretty fun, but it gets old fast. It's basically Bejeweled on steroids, but if you don't already LOVE Bejeweled, this game won't make you love it. The RPG elements seem tacked on - there is no story to speak of, and that's usually the only reason I play RPGs. If you're looking for some hard Bejeweled with some leveling up, get this game. If you're not, don't.
Great game, but buggy

The game itself is perfect, a better two player Bejeweled than the ones previously released. All the different charts of powers (equipment, skills, mounts, etc.) are confusing at first, but actually very simple in nature.
Sadly, the superior version of the game seems to be the demo for the PC. Better graphics, blah blah. No surprise there when you can spread the layout across the entire PC screen rather than crushing it into two tiny DS screens. But the real killer are the bugs. The game crashes. A lot. Not so much that it's not still fun, but FAR too often for a DS product. At least it saves often enough that you don't lose too much data when it happens.
I also have some minor gripes with the user interface. Nothing as bad as the crashes, but more frustrating at times. For example, when you make a 4 or 5 in a row, you get an extra turn. When this happens, text appears telling you what's going on. The problem? The text blocks much of the play area and linges for just a bit longer than I'd liked. Each time it happens isn't any big deal, but you get many, many 4s and 5s in a row over the entire game and the annoyance builds up. Also, while I haven't really played it often enough to know it comprehensively, I've gotten the sense that the multiplayer isn't particularly fair, balanced, or entertaining. It's awesome to never let a monster take a turn because of an endless stream of 4s and 5s in a row, stuns, and entangles. It's awesome to crush monsters when your warrior builds up to his finishing move and does 80%-150% of their health in one shot. It's less cool for the other player and, after a few "cheap" wins, less cool for the winner as well. At least, I want an opponent that fights back. That's the whole point of multiplayer, right?
Anyway, there is a lot to be negative about, but I don't mean to focus on that. The game is entertaining despite all that, and I feel it was well worth the money I spent. (But if more than a demo version is ever released for PC, the grab that version instead. I might, even though I already beat the game on the DS.)
Was going great... till it started freezing...

I'm mixed on this game. I like it, it is unique... game play has a tendency to get a tad boring... especially for long sessions. Overall though... I do like it. The reason I am torn is because the other day (after only using the game for about a week or so) the game started to freeze (at really horrible times to freeze too...) It just stopped mid movement, has anyone else had this problem? Aywho... if you are a bejewled fan you'll like this... and it has a little rpg... so that helps make it interesting. It's not the best game ever... but it's pretty good.
if you want to avoid a role-playing-game, avoid this one

Looking for something for ds like Bejeweled, but this one is not it. I looked at Jewel Quest, and it's ok, but I'll keep looking. (I know about the zoo animal one, and I don't think I could stand the graphics! I'm 61.)
