Although my son knew it was going to be something different, he thought there might be more variety, or at some point the typical Pokemon story line would begin...But that just doesn't happen in Pokemon Trozei.
When he's in the mood, he'll play Pokemon Tozei, and he gets a real kick out of it. However, he doesn't play it as much as the other traditional Pokemon games.
I on the other hand, really like it. I really enjoy using the stylus and prefer the simple game format--it's easy to start/stop without worry of losing data.
So before purchasing for your child, let s/he know that it's not a typical Pokemon game, and no where is it going to change into one. It will however provide them a good eye-hand coordination a work out!
great puzzle game with lots of extras...

To be honest with you, I absolutely adore puzzle games. They always seem to really be the ones you can never defeat, they just are the ones who actually defeat you. Nevertheless, with the Nintendo DS, there have been so many puzzlers that are just as addictive and fun like the thrilling Meteos, and even Bust A Move. However, for Nintendo, they also still know how to really hit it off with the success of their Pokemon franchise. While the games have been not just fun and exciting to all generations, they also set a good example of clever video games. But what would happen if you'd combine puzzles and Pokemon', you'd get this clever video game.
Pokemon Trozei for the Nintendo DS, is a interesting and exciting puzzle game for all ages. The gameplay is very simple, you have to manuever your stylus to match up 4 of the same pokemon in a row to win. The side scrolling match-up is easy to control and to master within the first gameplay, not as complex like other puzzlers. The game includes the traditional adventure mode, as well as modes for two players, battle and basic endless mode, where you have to keep your brain and eyes on the game and stylus. The graphics and sound really also carry out well for the Nintendo DS, where the fun seems like it remains endless.
All in all, while I'm not as big of a fan of Pokemon, I do enjoy this addictive video game. Pokemon Trozei for the Nintendo DS is a real must have for die hard puzzle fanatics, and longtime followers of the Pokemon series. I loved trying this game out in the stores, and it was delightful, and a great addition to your Nintendo DS library.

Pokemon Trozei is a colorful Bejeweled-style puzzle game in which you'll be tasked with arranging Pokemon into lines as they fall from the top of the screen.
...The story mode kicks off with some extremely easy tutorial levels, appears to be story-driven, it has you assuming the role of a young female tasked with aiding a professor [in order to help him rescue pokemon from an unscrupulous organization that steals pokemon and does evil thiings with them. Sound familier?]
Truth is, the story is as irrelevant as it is intelligible to us at this point, because at the end of the day this is a puzzle game, and regardless of any thrilling twists and turns in its plot, you'll still be spending the bulk of your time arranging pictures of Pikachu and friends into lines of four...
...You'll deal with the Pokemon that are continuously falling from the top of the upper screen down to the touch screen--not by moving them as they fall, but by rearranging them once they've landed. You'll rearrange the neatly ordered Pokemon pile by placing the stylus onto the Pokemon you want to move and then dragging it either vertically or horizontally, at which point the whole row or column will move to accommodate the Pokemon's new position. Any Pokemon that are dragged off the bottom of the touch screen as a result of your rearranging will fall from the top screen again...
...your primary goal in Pokemon Trozei is to arrange pictures of the same Pokemon into lines of four or five; but the game isn't quite as simplistic as it sounds. After successfully making a line of four or five, those Pokemon will disappear, and those remaining on the screen will be rearranged as a result. At this point, lines of three or more matching Pokemon will disappear, and will be followed by lines of just two. Spectacular-looking combos, then, aren't difficult to achieve, although it's rarely a result of genius planning.
That pretty much sums up what the game is and how to play, but let me add something else to that: Boss Battles are HARD! Sometimes, they will turn out the lights forcing you to trozei pokemon just by using the sillouttes of their faces, and sometimes they will throw junk ("Jammer Balls") into your screen which can't be trozei'ed the normal way, you must get three dittos to make a row of four to get them to disappear..they will sometimes throw in rare pokemon and give you only a short while to figure out how to trozei them to "catch them" (Yeah, same old, same old..gotta catch 'em all..and all that!) I almost lost my first boss battle, because pokemon began falling at breakneck sppeds, along with jammer balls, and I had a hard time making anybody trozei! (What's with the fluctuating difficulty..main game is easy, but boss battles are considerably harder!)
But, even if you hate pokemon, this game is a great puzzler..the tutorial is optional ("called labs" )and you can play them all you want for additional coins (used to unlock bonus stages with even rarer pokemon) or skip them altogether if you just want to get throught the game..only the very first tutorial is mandatory for getting through the game.
Want to try before you buy? There is a great flash tutorial the trozei website (you can get there from nintendo's website) that demos how to play; it's actually the first few tutorial "labs" you do in the game! How to trozei, how to make combos, why ditto is so important (he's sorta the "wild card"..if you have three like pokemon and a ditto, it will trozei them as if they were four like pokemon!)
I'm having a blast with the game! Aside from the aforementioned "Adventure Mode" there is also an "Endless mode" (trozei until you get a game over) and serveral multiplayer modes. You can even do download play with the game so all your friends can see what the hype is all about! The more you play, the more rare pokemon you unlock, and the more people you play with, you can unlock even more rare pokemon. I love pokemon and I love puzzles, so the idea of using a puzzle game to "catch 'em all (again) feels fresh and new..although this game is not for everyone!

I picked this up on a whim, I originally had no intent of getting it until the price went down quite a bit. However it was pretty fun when I first got it. Once you get the hang of it, it's not a bad game. There's no shooting people or bombing enemy armies, but it's fun all the same, in a different way.
However, while I have fun trying to get those last few Pokemon for my Trozei list, it was more fun before I beat the game, TWICE. Once you beat it once,it's quite simple to beat it again. It's a good puzzle game, although it takes some strategy and perseverance to beat a few bosses.
For people who jump at the chance to buy any Pokemon game that comes out on the market, be warned, this is not your average game. You don't catch or train Pokemon, you don't adventure all over whatever region the game is set in, you don't encounter trainers who want to prove how strong their Pokemon are, and you don't challenge gym leaders for badges.

OK, this game may not be as addictive as Meteos or Tetris on the DS, but it is one of the best puzzle games on the DS! The goal is to line 4 Pokemon up to trozei (clear) them, and it doesn't sound as easy as you think. The first few stages are easy (because it's tutorial), but once you are playing through the adventure mode, you will find yourself in many intense situations (ahh! Pokemon are piling up!) Nintendo also incorporated the "gotta catch'em all" concept in Pokemon Trozei (trozei all 386 Pokemon!) which I think was very clever. The Adventure Mode is short, but luckily it's backed up by the Endless Mode. Even though it's not wifi compatible, you can still go head-to-head with your friends in the multiplayer modes (Battle and VS mode) with just a single game pak. Don't be driven out of the game just because it's cute, colorful, and "Pokemon" because this is a very good puzzle game!

Great service. Arrived in great shape and in great time.
I haven't played the game yet. It's a present for my grandson. He's played it, loved it and wanted it for Christmas so I assume 4 stars are a good rating. He's 10.
Great game for DS.

Pokemon Trozei! is quite an interesting puzzlar game. Pokemon isn't really a stranger to puzzle games. Pokemon Puzzle League was a fantastic game for the Gameboy Color. Pokemon Trozei! however, isn't nearly as good as Puzzle League was. There is something to garner from the gameplay, but there's a severe lack of it here.
Playing the game isn't so bad. It's fairly easy. All the Pokemon are laid out for you in a grid-like fashion. Using the stylus, you can move the Pokemon up, down, left or right. The objective is to stack up for of the same Pokemon. Once this happens they disappear from the grid. You might even score a Trozei! Chance, in which instead of having to line up four pokemon, you'll only have to line up three. It's simplistic, but much like other puzzle games, can be fun and addictive.
There are not a whole lot of gamemodes to play. There's a single player Adventure Mode and an Endless mode. That's virtually all you've got. Adventure Mode pits you up with trying to catch a pokemon that has been stolen or something like that. It's not really important. The Adventure Mode consists of a multitude of levels. You'll be forced to clear out icons for you to advance, and they get harder as time goes on. There are also a few boss fights here and there. There are also a few puzzle levels in there where the set up is planned out for you, and you have to solve it. This could've been a mode all on its own instead of being inserted into the adventure mode. Other than those two modes, Single Player doesn't give you anything.
Multiplayer mode isn't much better. You can challenge anyone who has a Nintendo DS. Through the download play only one person needs to have a copy of the game. You'll then battle each other in the puzzle like fashion. There's also a mode where the game will search for people to play. If it finds someone, you've found a partner to play with.
Unfortunately, in terms of gameplay that's all Pokemon Trozei! gives you. It's severely limited, and the game just all out doesn't give you a whole lot to deal with. It's not nearly as addictive as other puzzle games which precede it. It gets boring really fast.
The game does also include the "Catch 'em All" lingo to it. Pokemon is famous for that. "Catching" a pokemon is easy. All you have to do is make a match and you've caught one. You can also exchange information with other players and acquire their pokemon without any penalty to you or the other person (in other words, you both get credit for having it). There's nothing to catching pokemon though. No reward. Nothing. The only thing you get is to rub it in your friends face, and that's not a whole lot to be excited about unless you're eight years old.
So Pokemon's next step into the puzzle genre isn't a particularly satisfying one. There aren't enough gameplay modes, and it isn't really addictive, either. Had there been more to this game in terms of gameplay modes, this could've been a worthwhile investment. It might be worth a peak, but certainly not worth the money to buy.
Needs more depth

I just wish this game had more depth. The puzzles are fun but it made me wish there were more to it. The different levels and challanges were harder and looked different but the game style was the same, meaning you used the same strategy. Once you figure out how to best line up 4-5 in a row you start to find the auto pairing to be anoying because it clears out your perfect row before you can drag the 4th or 5th one to its destination. I purchased a used game and so when i played all the warehouses were open to me. I do not know if this is normal or not but perhaps the previous owner already passed and unlocked them all for me. This was a bonus for me if he did because I do not plan on playing this game for very long even as a puzzle game. This is ofcourse because I do not like these types of puzzles, most of the scoring happens because the right combo falls into the right slot and takes no effort on my end to plan out.
In summary, borrow from a friend or rent it. The first hour that you spend playing this game will determine if you like it or not because it will be the same from beginning to the end. If you must own a copy, then buy it for cheap and not at full price. Puzzles games in my opinion go down in price very quickly so you should find this game in the bargin bin very soon.
