The game doesn't really pull of the feel of an online game, but it gives you enough that you don't mind. The dialoge bubbles above your computer controlled party members can get alittle old, but for the most part it's a nice feel.
Randomly generated dungeons means there's not alot of variation in flow, but the game is fast paced enough that this doesn't really bog you down either.
The short span of the title can also be a downside (about 15hrs)
When viewed from the side there's alot of faults that might turn you off from this title. However, as soon as you pop it in your PS2 you just sort of forget all those things and get sucked in. I was hopelessly addicted to this title, and now must anxious await vol 2 (may 2003)

My thoughts of the game would have to be about 4 stars. It is a very good game indeed and I like most everything about it. But the downside is (well maybe a downside for most people) Is that when you start to play the game you want to play again and again. And basicly it sucks you roght into the game so you cant stop but otherwise I love this game alot i really like the very deatailed graphics and everything else about it! I rate this game at 4 stars because the game deserves a good grade on how fun it is!

The game is one that you either love it to the extent that its all you think about or you completely hate it for what it is. but in the worst case youll probably over time take the time to beat it or at least complete at least half of it. I would recomend it to anyone looking for a new game, a good rpg or are just a fan of the series.
Repetetive Animation, but GREAT idea for an RPG...

I thought it was awesome how they decided to model the gameplay after many of the online games that we have today. One complaint I have is the repetative use of the same animations, and same backgrounds for the levels. The designers also overused many of the chat bubble dialogues for each of the characters. Overall, this was a good game, but lacked a lot in the animation department.
This is an awesome game!

...i'll give the idiots a bit of a word here. The reason why there's 'little or no plot' is because .hack isn't just about .hack//infection, or the whole game series for that matter. The entire .hack project spans video games, mangas, anime, and a card game. To truly understand it all, you must see all of it. The plot is deeply encrypted into the entire project, and each part gives you a little bit of it. So, all that aside, time to review the game! It's pretty straight foward, and you will be much more attached to it if you've seen all of .hack//sign, which forces you to ask yourself, "What the hell? I though Skeith was dead! Why is he still chasing after Aura?" Sure the gameplay is kinda repetative (X button), but once you beat //infection, you can't help but feel compelled to go on to //mutation.
the best RPG series EVER!!!

first of all the game is about a kid who joins a online game called the world. his one friend "orca" was data drained by a virus named skeith. he then meets the little girl in white gives him a book.his friend ended up in a coma. "kite" (the main character) travels with a female character "blackrose" who is a newbie or begginer just like him. she takes them to a viraly infected area called "hidden, forbidden, holy ground" where they find a monster who can not die. later they continue meeting virus monsters and screwed up areas. i gave this game a best game because i am a huge fan. if you like rpg and movement fighting you will love it.

This game was great. I remember going between this game and an other one, and i'm glad i picked this one. The graphics are good and the story line is great. The levels they have are almost unlimited, u will never encounter the same level unless u want to. So i say, buy this game=D

This is the most boring role-playing game I've experienced. The first 5 hours have a great plot, and then *nothing*. Just hack'n'slash for the next 20 hours. I quit the game before finishing.
