Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects for Nintendo DS is a travesty! I'd bought this title assuming I would walk-away from it with just a little bit of fighting-fun. Sadly, this was not the case.
You start out the game with two playable characters: Wolverine and the Human Torch. You can unlock several other characters but it will require battle points. You earn battle points by killing, killing & killing (as fast as possible). The fighting environments are highly destructable, but more often that I'd care to mention, you'll find walls and floor simply disappear- the sprites are terrible & many times your character will be left simply standing in thin air. The character animations themselves are shoddy- terribly choppy frame rate.
The cut-scenes in-between fights contain grammatically incorrect text.
I can't say anything positive about the fight mechanics either as the collision detection is horrendous.
In Sum:
Animations are choppy.
Sound is nothing bad/good, merely passable.
Fun factor is non-existent.
Control is wonky.
Collision Detection is dismal.
The only way to end this review would require me to expell the contents of my stomach :(

There is a reason that this game has been marked down so soon after it's release. Rise of the Imperfects isn't even worth it after the markdown. The 7 people who purchased it for full price probably understand this.
The controls are terrible. The graphics are bland. This game would be more suited as a Gameboy Advance title, or compost, your pick.

Yes, this game is definitely Marvel's Nemesis. It really makes you wonder if the "Rise of the imperfects" is talking about characters within the game, or the game itself. I'll have to admit, I thought the sound was good. I don't often keep the sound up on my video games, but this one is pretty decent. Of course, I really don't know much about video game sound. I'm an old-school gamer in the day where a gun firing sounded like a little bleep (and you could actually jump over the bullet!) but it really was the best part of this game.
If you're a comic lover, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!! The people actually use sentences. There's no slang, no realistic dialog...just complete sentences like the ones you'd find in your text books back in fourth grade. i.e. Spiderman has just beaten the head boss..he says, "Don't bother getting up. I will call the doctor." Does that sound like something he would really say? It was obvious that this was put together quickly and cheaply to make a quick buck. It's as though EA wanted to get this game released in the worst way, and that's just what they achieved.. the worst way!
If you want a game that you can win starting day one, this game is for you. If you want a challenge, some fun, your superheroes to at least resemble the ones from the comics, pass this one up. If you bought this game, at least keep it around long enough to put it to good use. Y'know, like burning it to keep warm in the winter!
Beyond bad, avoid

The DS has a slew of titles that are nothing short of amazing and totally worth your cash. However, for every couple excellent games, there are one or two titles that are poorly suited for Nintendo's dual screened handheld. Saying that Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects is poorly suited for the DS is an understatement. Not only is this game bad, it is possibly the worst game on the system by far, featuring a horde of bugs, glitches, and problems that simply sum it all up to poor game design. The console versions weren't that good either, but they're not as bad as this mess. You start out with the ability to play as either Wolverine or the Human Torch, and eventually you'll be able to unlock other Marvel favorites like Daredevil, Elektra, the Thing, and Spider-Man; but once you start playing the game you'll have little desire to play any further. It's a beat 'em up pure and simple, but there are so many hit detection glitches peppered throughout the game that you'll want to throw your DS against the wall. Repeatedly. Yeah, you get the point by now; Marvel Nemesis is bad. It's beyond bad, it's one of the worst ways to disrespect your DS, and should be avoided by anyone and everyone. It's a shame too, with what the DS can do, there could have been something decent made here. Thanks EA, we can always count on you guys.
