Why did they bother with this? She's got many fans, a hit series, why not make loads of money by releasing a substandard game? That is the view that the company behind this must have undertaken.
Firstly the graphics are terrible! Cut scenes are awful and the in-game graphics are just diabolical! next the gamplay, terrible! A really bad attempt of turning Xena into a tomb raider clone, levels that are bugged fights that are uninvolving and just a whole game engine that doesn't work!
On the plus side the chacram is cool in this! If you throw the chacram you go into a pov situated behind and control it! meaning that you can hit out of the way switches, close drawbridges and kill enemies with the cleanest of ease.
However despite this it doesn't stop the game from being terrible! Please just avoid this and get something like Resident evil 3 or syphon filter 2. They are far more enjoyable than this pile of dung!

Being a major fan of the show I was looking forward to playing the warrior woman myself. But even if you're a die hard fan of the show, you may not find this game as fun as it could have been. As you might expect this game was pretty much thrown out there hoping the name alone would sell it, and it shows. The graphics are some of the worst I've seen in a 3D environment game which when you hear suggests you will have the run of what ever level you're in. Not so with this game, most of the time there's always one clear path you should take and no way to veer from it. The special combo moves are of little use in the game, and in fact, I didn't need them at all. Simple hacking and slashing get you though any enemies. The minor puzzles hardly present a challenge, which I guess is good if you hate being frustrated on puzzles and the like. It's very easy to beat.
Though this game definitely seems better suited for younger players, you still may want to give it some of your free time. If you're not someone who can't get enough Xena in ANY form this is probably a game to pass up.

I am a major Xena fan (ok, obsessive is more like it), so you can imagine my disappointment at this game. My main nit was with the voices. They sound NOTHING like the actors. Xena sounds like a freakin' Valley Girl--her voice is too high, and Gab sounds like she's been getting off on helium. And as for Ares...*shudder* Needless to say, it was bad. My second problem was with the graphics. One word--POINTY. With emphasis on the bust. Honestly, can't the companies come up with a decent game where the female protaganist doesn't look like Madonna on steroids? And they left out Callisto? What game is complete without the psychotic blonde? The game is only for completists (me). They should have taken a cue from Nintendo and allowed for multiple players, or at least different characters. I would LOVED to fight as Gabby with her little stick.
For a more complete review of this and other games, check out my site. If you DO want to play this--RENT FIRST. I made the enormous mistake of paying for it without testing it first. The one cool thing is the chakram testing ground, which would have been cooler if there was a practice fighting arena, with stunties coming at you, but you don't take damage. Whoops, sorry for the rant--I DO get into this show. :)

I've had this game since it first came out. I've probably played it 20 times, it can be difficult in sections. One thing I was dissapointed in was the camera angles, they don't follow smoothly. Which can make the game difficult at times. All in all a pretty good game which could use improvement in areas of storyline, and camera angles. I wish this was more like a RPG, now that would be cool.

First of all, I am not a Xena fan, so I really don't care how accurately the game reflects the TV show. In this game, you are Xena, and you have to rescue her best friend. You have a sword and the ring thing, (that is really fun to throw at all of the enemies!) This is a combination puzzle and action/fighter game. I did not think that I would like this game, but I really am having fun. I love the scenery. I have explored all of the worlds/levels, and they are pretty entertaining. The graphics could be much better, but I think that the game play makes up for that. I don't take these games too seriously, so this makes a great stress reliever for me. Xena is no tomb raider, but if you are looking for some fun, this would definitely qualify.

When I saw Zena in Best Buy, I kinda laughed. I thought it was a girly game. But I bought it anyways. And I found out quick that I was wrong. The game itself is fun to play. I actually liked it. The graphics are ok (nothing awesome, but to God Awful either.) The camera angle is kinda screwy though, but I got use to it. The ending is a little disapointing though, I was hoping it would go on more. I recomend this game. It's fun, It's cheep, and hey, what else is there to do?

This game is the sole reason I bought a Play Station. It was a blast and I really enjoyed playing it. Mastering all the unique Xena moves allows you to slaughter your foes with true warrior style. I was sad after I got through all the levels. I wish they would make another one with Gabrielle as a second player or just being in it more.

I love this game! Everybody who says its bad is wrong! This game could have better graphics but it is fun. Especcially in the Amazon levels when amazons pop out of nowhere! They could have included Argo and Joxer though.I especcially love the wildlife the butterflies in the first level,The seagulls, and the exotic birds. As well as pironas and frogs. I espessially love the level where you fight the amazon queen. I like to jump up onto her platform of honer and ki8ll her and then stand on her place of honor. Well anyway I love this game!

Xena's the best character that ever lived and she deserves to be in the best game ever manufactured. Unfortunately, playstation games are lacking in graphic representation (think South Park animation) and therefore this game was a little short of being the gem I had hoped it would be. I love how her mission was to rescue Gabrielle (so true to the show) but the game incorporated strange creatures and encounters that seems completely out of place for Xena. I expected her to battle familiar villians like Callisto, Alti or Ares but there was no such event. She battled spiders, a cylops, weird men holding female hostages, crazy Amazons, archers and bees. The voices of Xena, Gab, and Ares were poorly imitated and the fact that it was a one player was really a turn off...we wanted to play Xena and Gabrielle!! But I love the warrior princess so any Xena game is better than no game. Die-hard Xena fans could appreciate the attempt. I did! I'm hoping the N64 version is better

This game is very versatile and just generally fun. Although it is not nearly as nicely done as some other RPG games for Playstaion, it is still a fun game to play.
