I was going to buy this game for my SP, but I decided i don't play with my DS as much, so I got this one. I'm glad I did, I really like it. The graphics get better and better with each new Harry potter game, and the characters and surroundings are so realistic. It was a little annoying having to dart my eyes back and forth from the top and bottom screens, but now I'm getting used to it, and it's not so bad. The mini games are aimed at younger kids(so far), but they're still fun and I love that there is some RPG moments in the game. If you're young, you'll definately enjoy this game, and if your an adult Harry Potter fan, like me, you'll find it more fun than not. It's worth the money.

here is my review that I said I would write

I'm a major fan of everything Harry Potter, I mean who can't love a surprisingly misfortunate orphan with a lightning bolt shaped scar who suddenley finds out that he's a wizard??
I was looking around when I saw that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire would be coming out for the Nintendo DS on the 9th of November or around that. Having already bought Nintendogs and loved everything about it, I thought Harry Potter + Nintendo DS= Lots of hours of fun.
On the most part I was right.
Here is a list of pros and Cons.
Pros-
- You can play as either of the golden trio, Hermione, Harry or Ron.
- The large variety of spells used, makes gameplay more challenging and enjoyable
- The mini games are quite fun, but they are mostly for younger children maybe in the age range of 7-12
- One feature to this game is 3D encounters with various creatures, which you get to use the touch screen.
- Each stage is, long and challenging. A few are fairly easy while others you might have to loose a few lives until you finaly make it.
- wide variety of sounds

Cons-
- you barely use the touch screen except for the mini games and 3D encounters.
- The graphics, except for when you're in a 3D encounter, look like they could be a GBA game and not a DS.
- This game if very fast, I completed like 3 stages of the game the first day I bought it.
- Some of the animations, mostly in 3D encounters, become repetitive but not overly annoying.
- I'm not going to say that I have finished the game yet but so far I don't really see any reason why you would want to replay it.

It's about time. A fun Harry Potter Game. What you have heard is true. This is an action Harry Potter game. I love it. It will keep the attention of anyone who has not been a fan in the past. This is because this is an action game where as the other potter games have been a hunt for and talk to collect-a-thon. Is there talking this time? Yes, but only while you are fihghting. In fact, you do not have to read anything if you do not want to. Excellent audio samples and voice acting. The game is fast, fun and creative. You will casts numerous spells. A big complaint has been that you don't pick your spells, you just always press the same button and perform whatever spell fits the situation. BUt I like it. It would slow down the action if you had to go through some menu, and it would limit the spells if they were limited to the number of buttons.
Bottom line: Great action game. If you remotely like the series, you will finaly love the game.

Fun :-)

My mom got me this game and I was pretty excited :-) I started playing and it was pretty cool, some levels last forever but that just made me want to play more. It can get boring sometimes if you don't know what to do next but I couldn't put my DS for like 4 hours, literallly! It's a great game so I'd reccommend it :-D

Hard to figure out at first, gets addicting

When i first started to play this game, it was quite hard. I just couldn't figure it out - The spells, monsters, characters, - and basicly how it worked. But after three days of playing this game, i have become a Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (DS game) pro. After you finish your first adventure and go onto your second, this game gets very fun, and easier as well. There are spells at the beggining they will show you how to do - That you have to remember for other parts of the game - There are also some fun mini games to unlock that you can get extra points/shields in.
You can choose to be either Ron, Hermiomie, or Harry.
There is a small booklet of instructions that come with this game, if you want to find out more about it. I recomend it.

I loved this game. My [...] brother can't let go of it. It's an awesome game with awesome storylines and 3rd generation graphics. It is probably not for serious gamers though. You choose from the three main characters and go through an awesome adventurous year at Hogwarts... even though the only thing you do is fight off enemies. I have to say this was tons worse than the first potter game for gameboy color. I would reccomend this because of the graphics and amazing storyline, though.Once you play this you realize how much more there was to the movie, or was there? Showbiz is a confusing confusing thing, my friends. Thanks for your time!

Great if your a Harry Potter fan - probably not for serious gamers.

I'm a 38-year-old housewife and mother of three who is a HUGE Harry Potter fan. Goblet of Fire was fun, but I was disappointed I didn't have to rely more on my extensive knowledge of all things Harry Potter. I was hoping my wizarding skills would be challenged more. I didn't have to guess what spell was appropriate for each task - they tell you. What's worse, there aren't many spells to choose from and the same two buttons are used for all the spells, even though there are six buttons available on the system. I was hoping for more mystery and strategy, but it's more scavenger hunting and dueling various creatures.

One of the goals is to collect all the tri-wizard shields. Once you have them all, you'll unlock a bonus. I was hoping the bonus would be some powerful spell to defeat Voldermort but it was only a collection of cut-scenes, all but one of which I had already seen because they play at the beginning of each level and I'd so bored of them already I would skip them and go straight play. Why would the bonus be something they've already shown us?!?!

Another goal is to collect enough Bertie Botts beans to purchase all the cards from the Weasley Twins, each card has some value - it will unlock another spell or make it easier to defeat a particular creature. I earned enough beans for all them a long time ago and I wish there were more things available to purchase from them because I still have some 4,000 beans left over and continue to earn them. I'd love to purchase an Invisibility Cloak or some Felix Felicis potion.

The final tri-wizard task, the maze, was a huge dissappointment. I came to the conclusion that the programmers were on a deadline and were running out of time when they came to this level. They could have made it so much more interesting and challenging. There isn't even an opportunity to find more shields or beans. It was incredibly easy and boring.

All said, though, I still had fun with it.
