Even in dreams I see the pieces falling.

Tetris is one of the classic videogames ever. It was the "killer ap" that created the Gameboy, but it took some time to reach Playstation. Tetris Plus contains the standard version of the game that you loved a decade ago, and also contains a new idea. The new game involves a falling ceiling and a little guy you need to move to the bottom of the screen. I was sceptical about the new element, but it was a blast. The new game lets you play from over 80 created screens or make your own. The levels start out easy (some may take a few seconds), but get tougher. MUCH TOUGHER. At times I would go for hours playing "just one more game". It's a classic game with a new spin. Just as addictive as you remember it.

AWFUL! There is no comparison to the original!

I couldn't agree more with the reviewer from Dayton, and I wishI didn't have to give this ........ game even 1 star. I recently traded with someone for this game (glad I didn't buy it), and I was completely disappointed. The original Tetris has a black background so that your eyes focus easily on the pieces on the board as well as those falling down; PlayStation's version attempts to "techno" the game and features ever-changing scenery of multiple colors behind the puzzle. It's incredibly distracting and annoying, making it very easy for you to lose concentration. Another annoying addition is a voice that yells out "Tetris," Single," or "Double" whenever you complete a set of lines -- to compound this irritating update, a graphic flashes at the bottom of the screen to tell you that also. The graphic blurs your puzzle momentarily, but as any Tetris fan knows, even a second's distraction can ruin your strategy. The option to change music or play in silence has been eliminated, and I always enjoyed just hearing the pieces fall into place. If your game ends and you don't choose to continue, the game kicks you out all the way back to the beginning, and you end up sitting through several screens that say "Now Loading" for an eternity. This game takes longer to load than Resident Evil! PlayStation should avoid remaking classic games and instead package older games in their original form, as they did with the Namco Arcade Classics game. Stay away from this stinker; it'll make you want to throw your PlayStation out and haul out your dusty, obsolete NES.

Buy it for Puzzle Mode

First of all, I agree with the comments of the other reviewers about Classic mode. I was very distracted by the changing background and the "single, double, triple, TETRIS" graphics. But after playing my Game Boy Tetris DX game to death, I wanted to see what other Tetris options were available. So after hating Classic mode, I decided to try Puzzle mode. And 3 hours later, I was still trying Puzzle mode! Seriously, these little puzzles with the professor guy trying to get to the bottom of the screen ROCK. You start with really easy puzzles (of course) that only take a few seconds/moves to clear. Then the real fun begins. This game will turn your brain inside out. I made it to level 17 during my first session and could have kept on playing for hours longer ("Just one more try."). If you enjoy strategy/puzzle games and are a little bored with "regular" Tetris, this will be right up your alley.

great puzzle game

I don't see why a lot of people don't like "Tetris Plus." It's one of the only games that my aunt will play and she got me hooked on it. The puzzle mode is challenging because you have to get the explorer to the bottom of the puzzle before the spiked ceiling gives him a minor headache. It's one of the best challenges I've ever seen in a puzzle game, but it's not impossible. But the thing I like best about the game is that you can play head to head against someone else in puzzle mode, which can be a lot of fun.

To make the replay value even better, "Tetris Plus" throws in the classic Tetris game that got everybody hooked to the series. If you like other Tetris games, I recommend getting "Tetris Plus."

Not the Best Bang for the Buck

I would like to start by saying I love Tetris and have been playing for years! That is why I felt it needful to tell all weary of this game to seak other games as options. The downfalls are greater for an older aged generation down-pitted with cheezy annoying music and lame Attari like graphics. As for a younger group of Tetris players this may just pass as fun.

Actually pretty boring!

I was hoping for an addictive tetris game, but ended up with a rather weak attempt to revive a classic game. You can get the same excitement from the free tetris-type clones that you can download off the web.

In my mind, the best tetris-type attempt is still yoshi's tetris attack for the super nintendo. Now that was an addictive game. Which makes me depressed that nintendo does not support the playstation with some of their games.

This new version of Tetris has a new feature called puzzle mode. Thi smakes the game more thrilling and challenging, while bringing a new aspect to teh classic game of tetris. The puzzle contains many levels, so the game will not become boring. I definetley enjoy this game and would recomend it to anyone who is a fan of classic tetris or who is looking for a new challenge!!

BORING

The object is to get the professor to the bottom. You do this by trying to get rid of rows.( Kind of like or Tetris games. ) 2 player mode is terrible. It is just like 1 player mode but the object is to keep the professor closest to the bottom. ( If you put a block on top of the professor, he will climb it. ) So I player against my sister. My sister tried to get rid of the rows and I tried to stack all the blocks on the side. ( So the professor doesn't climb them. And guess what? I won! Now what kind of strategy is that? I would get a adventure game or action game any day!

I have been buying old games that my family has really enjoyed in the past with other systems. The games are not quite the same
as the ones we played before, but they use the same strategy's
That we had gotten used to. So they are great fun. I really
appreciate the promt mailing of my orders. Amazon.com has been
a wonderful experienc for finding what I am looking for.
Thank You
Jodi
