This is a great fighter for the Nintendo DS. With hardcore rock and roll tunes and anime style graphics, it can't be beat. Jumping up and down platforms in an almost Super Mario-fashion, the game gets pretty intense and is not for the faint of heart or hand. Breaks are needed every once in awhile to rest your hands or you'll be very sore very soon. With over two dozen characters to choose from, the game is deep and well planned out. The Dragon Ball Z fighting game for the DS does not compare to this one at all and seems very sluggish in comparison and also very naive and boring. This one is pretty hardcore and requires a lot of focus and hand energy, which makes for a great fighting title. Perhaps not the best for the younger ones in the audience, but for older gamers, this can't be beat, as the graphics and sound effects are a bit gory and there are some sexual references in the game, but that's true to the Guilty Gear series and most top-notch fighters, except some like Super Smash Bros. Melee and the like.
This game is guilty of being a mess

When it comes to third party developers bringing established franchises to the DS, they either utilize just what the DS can do very well, they completely ignore what the DS can do, or they make a sloppy attempt at kind of taking advantage of what the DS can do. The long running Guilty Gear series, considered by many to be the best 2-D fighting series on the market in the past few years, makes it's debut on the DS with Guilty Gear: Dust Strikers; and it does the aforementioned three things that third party DS games tend to do. Utilizing both of the DS' screens for fighting mayhem, Dust Strikers moves the game's traditional one on one fighting format into an all out four player free for all, and it's not for the better. Thanks to an unbalanced fighting engine and the game's haphazard use of the dual screens, the fighting action becomes nothing but one big messy button masher. Not to mention that for a Guilty Gear game, there is hardly as much depth to it as we've seen before on other editions of the series. There's also some lame mini-games thrown in for good measure using the stylus and touch screen, which are hardly worth even checking out. There are a few good points to Dust Strikers though: the character sprites and graphics and animation look crisp, clean, and sharp most of the time. Plus there's a heaping amount of fighters to pick from which is a nice plus for longtime fans of the series; and of course, there's a rocking soundtrack to boot as fans would come to expect, although it does sound a bit grainy coming through the DS' small speakers. It's sad that Majesco just had to tamper with a winning formula for Dust Strikers, and it's even more disappointing at how messy it all turned out. Longtime fans may want to give it a look, everyone else can leave it on the shelf.
One great "arcade style" fighting game!

Since the first guilty gear appeared I got addicted to it.
classic 2D fighting which in my opinion is better than all 3D fighting games.
Dust Strikers is a great game, fantastic game play, a lot of characters to choose from, pretty good graphics. BUT:
the last boss called "Gig" is very difficult, but one can say "oh... just some practice" but no!!!... the different attacks from Gig are very hard to elude and you cannot stay in guard all the time since you NEED to defeat the enemy (waiting for the time to reach 0 is of no use). I must complain because if the last boss was well balanced then Dust Strikers will be a game with 5 of 5 stars... it's very frustrating to battle this boss, despite that it's a great game worth having
This game is crunk all 5 r belong to this

Recently i picked up guilty gear dust strikers, i had ben wanting it for over a year, so i had RAELLY high expections. The game has 7 modes, i will explain each one.
ARACDE MODE- You chose from 1 of the 21 characters and you go trough about 10 fights, but the last fight is GIG, who is extrely hard, untill you figrue out how to win, *SPOILER ALERT*
waht you need to do is hit the little person on his tail untill he goes into ball mode then you unlsheas some sick combos!
STORY MODE- Practitcly the same thing as araced except thers dialouge between fights and there isnt as many batles.
VS MODE- not tottal sure since i dont have any one to play wiht but im pretty sure you chose a fighter and do a free-for-all with your friends and no computers and the game chosses a level.
CHALLENGE MODE- the same thing arcade mode but co-op with a friend, i think.
RK-FACTORY-a realy cheap version of creating a character, like sonic battle but only 25 moves and you can only give him 6.
MINI-GAMES- 7 mini games that are ok, but are kinda stupid, if you get the high scores you unlock the moves for ROBO-KY
OPTIONS- i dont think i need to explain this.
that is it for all the moves now i will name the charcters-
sol badguy/ky/may/milla rage/axl low/potemkin/chipp zanuff/eddie/baiken/faust/testament/jam/johnny/venom/dizzy/
slayer/i-no/zappa/bridget/anji mto/robo- ky.
That was all of the charcters, quite an impersive number. everybody has around 30 moves a coulpe have 10 but Bridget has about 100. The sound is actully pretty good, i like the opening song a lot.
CHECK OUT THE LAST WORD-(out of ten)
Good- lot of charcters, lots of move, great level desgin.
Bad-lack of mode where you get to chose EVERYTHING, and no single or online multiplayer.
WTF moment- faust lick attack
GRAPHICS-8 great sprites
SOUND-8 the music rocks
GAMEPLAY-8 really responsive
LENGHT-7 not that much to do
OVERALL-8 i recomend this game very much
PS- i wrote the other review before i got the game i was just being dumb im not doing that again. pleses amazon let this get thourgh (my last seriuous one didnt) plesea just let it get thourgh im trying to get a job for nintendo power to right revivews i need to right reviews online though if it doesnt get thrugh my family will starve to death, i need the job. ;(
