I love SimCity on a computer, and thought it would be fun to have on my PlayStation. I was dead wrong. The people that ported this to the PS were downright lazy and didn't do a thing to optimize the game. The controllers are horribly painful to use, the interface is horrendous, the scrolling of the game board is slower than a three-toed sloth. I'm sorry I ever bought this game.

When you learn how to build a city, it's hard to stop. This features hours of play time and no matter how much you play. Every city you build is different. The sculpt you own land is a great feature. The only problem is waiting for your money to build up so your city can grow.
This game is AWFUL!

This game was fun at first, but it was annoying how everything was so small! And when you zoomed in, you were too close to actually "build" anything. I would say instead of wasting your money on this, buy SimTower or the new upcoming "The Sims" where you control the people, their lives, their neighbors etc. Have FUN!

We first saw this SimCity 2000 for Playstation at my sisters house, when our 13 year old son played it he just couldn't get off of it as he was having so much fun. Well, I played it, a late 30's year old woman and I loved it too, it was very interesting and I found that I just could not walk away. So, I ordered it from Amazon for our son for Christmas, to surprise him, he really loves it as this is the only game he'd play, so I can't wait to see his face on Christmas morning. I can tell you now, our son, me and my husband will all want to play it at the same time, that is how good this game is. I highly recommend it to anyone, the price is excellent from Amazon, ... so thank you amazon for helping make our son have a special, surprising Christmas. Really, do spend the money on this game, you will be glad you did.

I bought this game, I thought that it would be the coolest game ever, and then I bought it, the graphics were bad, the scrolling was worse, and the zooming? Don't even ask. I suggest you buy a different game, Like Total Annilation for the PC. Or Command and Conquer. But stay away from this game. That's it back away, turn around..... back away from the simcity 2000.

Rated "E" for "Everyone" - you are the governor, you add zones for industry, commercial & residential; manage the city's budget; add parks & recreation; do landscaping, etc. Try to get people to move in and make your city grow. Disasters (such as fires, flooding & crashes) can be turned "on" or "off" - I recommend keeping the disasters option turned "off" because the disasters seem to occur overly frequently otherwise (this feature could be improved.) There are also various city scenarios to choose from in which certain pre-programmed situations or disasters occur and you have a certain amount of time to reach a given goal (population number, budget, etc.) - to test your skills. Very fun & entertaining; sucks away a lot of time, which can be either good or bad! I've also actually learned some stuff about cities and budgeting from this game. For example, if you take out too many bonds at a time, it's extremely difficult to get your city's population to grow fast enough to pay the interest, let alone make any profit. (Very similar to charging on credit cards...) At first I thought it would be nice to have a city with only parks and recreational and residential areas. However, I quickly learned that industry and commercial areas are needed near any residential areas in order to provide jobs and shops for potential residents before any people will move in. The options and controls take a little getting used to at the beginning, but once you've figured those out, SimCity 2000 becomes highly addictive!

My daugther, age 9, thought this would be a blast -- she loves Sim Town on the computer. Within 7 minutes, after looking over directions, she was asking for my help. Lots of directions and we still are unable to access the Mayor's boot camp for a demo mode. As we can't return it, we are stuck with it. Perhaps when patience are high, try this game -- it must have some redeeming qualities? should have read these reviews first...

I was a little sceptical at first, but once I started figuring things out it really got addicting. If you can get over the poor graphics, Sim City 2000 can be a blast! I can't wait untill The Sims comes to PSX!
This is the best game ever invented.
