This is not a particularly exciting game, but it might be OK for little kids. I only bought it because it has a character in it named "Joe Chin," which happens to be my name.

A very fun and very different type of game

Befor eI got to play it, my brother kept on singing all the songs, and it bugged the crap out of me! so i picked up the controller and tried it myself, and i was amazed by how fun(ny) this game was. it's much like dance dance revolution where you have to prees the appropriate button to the beat. the songs are annoying and cool at the same time. the dialogue inbetween songs are very funny, and the storyline is great. the only problem i found was the poor grading scale, which lowered your grade sometimes even if you were really close to getting it right. so now whenever i play the song where parappa has to pee, i lose because you basically have to hit most of the buttons or you lose. i still have not beaten it, but to the point where i got, its a very addicting game and if you have a playstation, or a ps2 for that matter, i highly recommend it.

Short But Fun

The premise of the game is that you're PaRappa, a dog who raps his way through winning over the girl of his dreams, who happens to be...a sunflower? Rap your way through a garage sale, making a birthday cake, driving a car, and more.
The characters and situations are pretty funny, and get funnier if you mess up (especially the cake level.) The songs are ridiculously catchy and you may find yourself replaying levels just to hear the songs. The only downside to this game is that it is VERY short, and if you're good at rhythm-based games you can probably beat this one in a day. If you're looking for amazing graphics you may be disappointed, since the characters are all rendered as 2d cutouts, almost like a pop-up book. However, this is one of my favorite PSone games and if you like games that are a little on the silly side such as Katamari Damacy and Elite Beat Agents, this is a good game to buy.

This game is pretty simple to figure out, and for a person that does not get in to games that feature explosions, shooting, and other usually violent action, I thought it was great fun. The characters are cute, the words are catchy, and I found myself hooked on this game! It is good fun for any age. I am 31, and my neice, 13, likes it as much as I do.

This game is SO MUCH FUN. You rap your way through an adventure/ love story. You are a cute/ hip dog, trying to win the love of Daisy. You learn to drive, bake a cake, karate, and sell merchandise by rapping. You even have to rap well to use the bathroom. Creativity is rewarded. I have yet to meet someone who has not LOVED this game!

In The Rain Or In The Snow/ I Got The Funky Flow...

Yes, "Parappa The Rapper" is geared towards the child, but anybody will have a ball playing with it. Parappa might not be the hippest hopper on Earth, but the irrepressible catchiness of the flows and the undaunting challenge to sound sweet... scratches any negativity. He raps his way thru, while learning karate with an onion-head Mr. Miagi, how to drive with a moose in law enforcement, how to succesfully sell junk with a reggae lizard, having to rap as a privelege to cut to front of a bathroom line, how to bake with a snippy hen, & how to just plum rock a crowd on stage in freestyle mode. Downsets include short stages and the fact that not everybody has the "funky flow" and will have a hard time progressing/impressing to go to the freestyling phase of each stage. I'm not saying that's me, but when it comes to rap, some people are just... gosh-awful! But that's the fun in it, the more you bounce back from receiving an "awful," the better your approach to the rap will be (hopefully). And who doesn't love the 2D cookie cut-out characters and graphics? All 'n all, a game for the child, and the adolescent who's not the ashamed to play this game. I know "Parappa 2" might have been released in Japan a while back, but I wish Sony will unleash it to America. I wonder if "Umjammer Lammy" is any good...

This is the very first game I got for my PlayStation, and I fell in love with it instantly. Laugh if you want, but PaRappa was on my cake at my 13th birthday party. Anyway, the game mixes innovative flat graphics (because Parappa means paper thin in Japanese) and catchy tunes to bring audiences a light fun game in the midst of all the fighting and other fast paced games. Whether you're young or old, you'll fall in love with this adorable dog in a heartbeat.

This is an anomoly in my video game collection. Most of my games are either baseball, wrestling or boxing games. A few years ago though, myself and a bunch of my other drummer friends started playing this game as a means of practicing without going deaf. As in, do what parappa is supposed to do, but always change up the rhythms and see what works and what doesn't. Not only did our scores go through the roof, but it was an awfully fun way to waste a couple of hours a week. It's a great game, although it's short. Anyone can play it, almost anyone can beat it, and it hilarious even the 50th time through it. If sony is smart, they'll re-release this puppy (no pun intended) in a hurry. Better for them to ...
