Diner Dash for the Nintendo DS is a fun, challenging game. You can play a Career track, which follows Flo through different restaurants, Endless Shift, where you play until you lose five tables, and multi-player, which is done with another DS-wielding player.
The graphics are bright and clear, the characters have personalities, and the music isn't too bad. I find the gameplay to be somewhat difficult, and I've had to play several levels over and over again before I beat them -- and I'm almost 21. This would be a good game for a kid or an adult.
The one unnecessary detail is probably the "customizing" of the restaurant after you complete a level -- you're given the choice to pick between floor and table colors, pillar and door style, etc. While it's cute, your choices don't actually have any real impact on the customers. There's no wrong decision.
I give Diner Dash a five for fun. Because it follows a very loose storyline, I'd also give it high marks for replayability. It's addictive, though -- so be warned!
The computer version is a LOT better!

I have the computer versions of this game and enjoyed them a lot more. This game would've been more fun if the controls weren't so bad. Maybe its just me, but I had the hardest time seating people at the tables. You have to touch and drag them to a table and then release and they should sit down but instead, they would just jump back in line. This happened over and over again until by chance it might work. And also when I would touch a table to clean up, it would instead go to the table next to it. I dont know if its just mine but Im curious to hear what other players are experiencing. I found Cake Mania for DS ten times better than this one.

The game is simple in concept, but it is crazy how addictive it is.
You seat people, take their order, bring them their food, bring them the bill , then clear their table...seems simple enough, until you realize you have to serve multiple tables at once. Doing the same thing at different tables gives you extra chain points. The game gets progressively more challenging, introducing more tables as you go, and also different types of customers. Your reward is to see your run down restaurant get rennovated piece by piece. Definitely a travel friendly game.
Do a Google search if you wish to play a limited demo of the game.
Not worth the admission price

Diner Dash first achieved notoriety as a flash game, and now it's hit the DS as well. Taking everything that made it enjoyable before, Diner Dash starts out as a blast, but the overall repetitiveness and simplicity are what hurt Diner Dash the most in the long run. Playing as Flo, Diner Dash offers some challenging gameplay as you attempt to run your frequently busy restaurant. However, the game doesn't look quite right squeezed down to the DS' small screen, not to mention offering some slight frame rate issues as well. Not to mention that once you do get through the entire game (and you will) there isn't any reason to go back again. What really saves the DS version of Diner Dash from the scrap heap though are the inventive touch screen and stylus controls that have been implemented, as well as the overly fun and addictive multiplayer options. The good mostly outweighs the bad with Diner Dash, but the worst factor is undoubtedly the fact that you can find this game for the PC for much cheaper than the asking price here. Still though, if you desire Diner Dash on the go, you'll be pretty well satisfied, for a while anyway that is.
Doesn't live up to the Flash version

I've been playing this Flash version on my PC, and was excited about getting it for my DS. The game play is generally the same as the PC version, with the ever increasing difficulty. Some slight changes, like families, choosing your decor, mopping and customers with reservations...(there are probably others, but I haven't gotten that far yet).
Additionally, for me, there are just some games that don't translate to the "small screen". This is one of those game. Tables seem very close together, you have to use the left arrow on the screen to see the customer waiting line.
Overall, I'm glad I bought it as I really like the concept and the "stress" of keeping customers happy.
Like Online...kinda

Agree with other reviewers, this game does not translate well to the small screen of the DS. Also the top screen was virtually not used. It could have been to show customers waiting in line. Though the most frustrating part is if you don't tap exactly where you should, the action doesn't take. On the good side, I can play it when ever I want now, and not just when I am at my Computer!
Overall, just as entertaining as the computer game and just as addicting!
It lives up to the promise!

Other reviewers are correct: Given a large PC screen or the small DS screens on which to play Diner Dash, I gladly pick the former! But I really appreciate the fact -- given the portability of the DS and the amount of time I spend on it -- that there now is one more game I have available in that format. Yes, seating people sometimes is frustrating -- just when you have an open table and drag them over, they jump back in line. But the game is fun and entertaining and for $20 (I got it during a promotion on Amazon) it's money well spent.

I am not good with game remote controler, the DS touch screen makes all the game easy for people like me! Diner Dash put you in the situation that you not only need to serve your customers but also need to learn how to serve your customers and score more points in the same time, so you can reach your goal. It's very fun game and very addicted. I love it... if you are a serious gamer, this game might not be for you, for the rest, it is good game for both your mind and hand! Keep you busy but fun fun fun!
I'm enjoying it

I was a big fan of the PC version of Diner Dash, and was excited to play the DS version. I can definitely say it has kept me entertained for a few months now. I am not a hardcore gamer - just someone who rides a train to work and has an hour here or there to play. Each level has progressively difficult customers or some other difficulty - like now they demand appetizers, and that keeps you interested too. Overall - I like it!

The addictive PC game comes to the DS, and it does all the right things. Annoyances that were in the PC version have changed for the better, and this game has even added a whole new assortment of new objects, people and appliances to mess with.
It's simple, if you liked the PC version, you'll love this. If you've never played this before, this is very much worth a rent to experience how unique and addicting this game is. The point-and-click style of the older PC version translates perfectly with the DS touchpad, making it probably one of the easiest (and truest to original) ports ever done.
