This is just like the old game. I was never very good at the old game for some reason. It seems fun until you die and then I realize poor control was the reason I die every time.
I am disappointed because I thought the stylus would come into play somehow. But the stylus is not used. This game would have been just as good on the GB Advance and does not make use if the DS's capabilities.
If you like the old game, and want more, then you should buy this. Since the price dropped to $20, it may be a buy even if you only play it a few times.
I am compeled to reduce my stars even more to try and skew the current overall status. But I didn't this time. The 2 reviews below giving 5 stars are not accurate as this isn't even close to a 5 star game.
Why must i watch the story intro's everytime......

The game it's self is more or less the same as the dig dug one with an overview map that's kinda like the dig dug II on the NES. But, the twist is combining both the Dig Dug with that goofy Dig Dug II overview map that kinda involved destroying the islands to defeat the pugs and whatever the little dragon guys name was.... Not a bad idea and it's actually fun if you liked those two versions of Dig Dug. But, some of the bonus weapons are pointless and overall have no use really in this game. And, sadly for whatever reason one is forced to watch the story dialoge over and over and over and over... Really... Even the story dialoge before you get to the title screen!!! Why!!! First time it's like sure! But, over and over no. Not cool what so ever!! Plus, the story is very lame even for children who will find the story bland and meaningless. Think you can mash some buttens and skip it? Nope!!! The game and concept of mashing Dig Dug and Dig Dug II is a good idea and is rather fun. Concept of forced story over and over and useless bonus weapons lame. So, this game can rather be a push for fans of Dig Dug if you're a member of one of those online game rentals you may wish to try first before plunging in on this game....

I personally love the origional, so this one is a hit for me. I love how you come from the top screen to the bottom screen. That is one of the coolest parts. I also love the multiplayer mode. It is a perfect fit if you love the original and have a DS.
