This is a sweet program made up of tiny brain games, some easier than others, all under categories like think, memorize, identify, analyze and compute. For me the memorize, analyz and think are the easiest, I think compute is the hardest though it depends on the person. I haven't reached the "test" yet as other reviewers mentioned so I don't know what lies ahead but it's pretty cool!
love the little professor and the music is kind of funny.

A mostly fun experience slightly marred by the overly talkative (well, he doesn't talk) host character. Thankfully his blather can be skipped by repeated tapping of the arrow in the upper right.
And thankfully this game didn't include the endlessly frustrating "find the birds" game in the Wii version, the one game that always killed me in competition games.
The games are divided among five areas such as memory, thinking, analysis, identification, and ... I don't remember :) The activities are fun for the most part, and challenging as the difficulty progresses.
Some of the games are not explained that well on-screen, and take some figuring out, such as Pathfinder. And it would be nice if there was more time given. But these are small complaints.
I got this for a friend and she's completely hooked, trying to get all the gold medals.

If it makes you feel any better, guys, I am at a C+ having bought this game two weeks ago. I like this little game as there seems to be a great variation in the games within the categories that test you on such things as memory and arithmetic. My [...]daughter has scored a D on this game. I am quite happy when she tries it as I am sure it does her more good than harm in relation to computer games. Well worth it.
PS I got a 20 years old result on Brain Age. Check that one out.
A tutorial might be nice.

This game is fun, but sometimes some of the puzzles are hard to figure out. You have a time limit and found myself getting the hang of some things just as the time was up. I suppose it's trying to measure how fast I can get it, but a few just didn't make any sense. Needsless to say I was called a "calculator" more than once. I'm okay with that.

I chanced upon this game when my daughter was playing it at a local retailer during an idle moment. The concept seemed interesting and I bought it as a Christmas gift for her.
Basically there are five different fields of "study" such as memory, computation, and analysis. Within each field are different types of games that will challenge your ability during a timed test. When you successfully answer a question it gets progressively more difficult. On the memory test for instance it may start with 2 numbers then go up to 5 then 9 and I suppose higher (haven't gotten there yet).
Although the game is a great deal of fun some of the visuals could be improved (if you have poor eyesight you can lose a lot of points). Another shortcoming is the touch screen interface. Mine is slightly off which makes it exceedingly difficult to draw lines on one test and in one area I can't click to save my life. It would also be nice if it kept a history of your scores. Lastly since it relies on speed the interface can slow you down, you may be gifted and be able to remember 15 digits at a glance but keying them in accurately with speed is where you get penalized.
Take the time to figure out how each part works, it will help improve your score. You can also practice each test individually. Don't be dismayed at initial results, it takes a little time and practice to warm up your brain. I got 1,116 on my first try, 45 minutes later I had 1,598 and I still have a lot of progress to make.

Big Brain Academy is very challenging yet is still a lot of fun to play with. Versus mode really tests your strengths and weaknesses. It encourages you to get better at your weakess point because you don't want to be beaten! Overall, Big Brain Academy really does train your brain and is great for children and adults alike. With a large range of games and puzzles, children as young as four can play!

I bought this game for my 9 year old, so he could actually learn something while he played the Game Boy. But my 17 year old daughter loves this game and plys it all the time. I have also tried it. This is a game for the whole family, it is fun to play together.

Bought this as part of the family's Nintendo DS Lite gift this holiday and it appeals to everyone (late teens to 50's something!)... It is very interesting to see how different people's scores vary depending on what section the game falls into: memorize, analyze, compute, identify, think My score is definitely stronger in a couple of these categories than others and that's what makes it fun! We are slowly inching up grade-wise in our scores, I only wish we could have more than 4 players... any guests who want to play have to sign in as one of us, but the good thing is this keeps the highest score, not the last score like Brain Age. I showed this to my co-workers and now they want to buy the DS just to play this (and another) 'brain game'! Glad that marketing people have figured out how to get the older crowd involved in the game system sales :-)
My 8-year old loves it

My husband and I went to a class designed to help keep our brains sharp. (I would place us in the younger senion citizens group.) This game was recommended. It makes us do things that we would not think of doing. One forgets easy things that we have not done for a long time. The easy things start out being somewhat difficult. But the game in all of its different game parts makes us think in a way that we have not done for a while - while being quite enjoyable - thus stimulating our brains in ways that they need to be stimulated.
We definitely believe that this game helps us stimulate our brains and think in ways that we need in an attempt to keep our BRAINS SHARP. It certainly cannot hurt!
The name of the course that we attended was 'Keep our Brains Sharp'.
