My MOM liked this game, and she hates my N64!

I got this game for my mom at christmas (in reference to N64 version) and she loved it. we have now beaten Skorne (head bad guy) five times, and its getting a bit boring for me at least. My friend comes over to play it all the time, and when we saw it at the arcade, she was estatic. We wondered why they had changed the desert and forest to a town, though. we played the desert, and felt that it and the forest should have been included in the game for home. thats why I gave it a 4 instead of 5. great game, hope the PSX is good too.

GL Rocks!

I've played the arcade game many times, and I've betten Skorne 4 times, I can't wait for the PSX version to come out. Although, to be honest, the 2 player mode is a bit of rip off, if it's a arcade-to-home conversion, it should have as many arcade like qualities as possible, especially the things that make it uniqe. But other than that, it soudns like it's gonna kick some butt with the extra characters and deathmatch mode, etc.

Awesome

This game is so cool. I have played the original gauntlet games before and loved them, but i always hated that your life gradually depleted, but in this game it doesn't.Also you have the ability to gain levels so you can get stronger, buy things with the gold you pick up,and find dozens of items and power ups to make you journey alot easier, you also have special attacks that destroy tons of enemys at once. If you like action/rpg games, this game is for you.

Not what was expected

This game is an insult to the arcade. They changed way too many things like increasing your stats with gold and traps were missing throughout the levels. They were in too big of a hurry to get this on the market for the PSX. The graphics could have been better, and the limit of two players is a joke. If you really like Gaunlet Legends in the arcade, buy it for the N64. It was a lot better all around. Just stay away from the Playstations, because once you've tried it for the N64, you'll be disappointed in the Playstation version.

N64 version is better

WHile this adaptation of a classic game is certainly enjoyable, I have also seen the N64 version. The PLaystation, even witha 4 player adapter is still limited to 2 players and the special effects are not as good. THe playability however and the actual plotline are identical and enjoyable. While this game is certainly fun to play, if you have the option I would opt for a different format.

Full of bugs -- A major disappointment

Midway was clearly in a rush to ship this product. The falconess special character is missing as is permanent anti-death at the end of the game. I emailed Midway and they confirmed these bugs and said there are no plans to fix them. This was especially disappointing because I lost the ability to play as the Valkyrie as soon as I used a special character. This spoiled the game for me. I have also played the arcade game and the N64 versions and both are better than the Playstation. Save your money and play it in the arcade.

Don't Bother!

I really enjoyed the arcade version of this game, and was very anxious to play at home. However, it left so much to be desired that it quickly was traded out of my game collection.

The graphics are not up to par with the arcade, but if that surprises you, go take another look at the arcade version! I wouldn't expect the same on the PS. The big problem was, well... There's no challenge.

Why? In the arcade, your health ticks away each second. In the PS version, this does not happen. Instead, you get more and more and more life as you go up in level. Faster than you lose it, actually. Soon you find you have thousands of health points, and are taking 200-300 points of damage per level. Even the first couple of bosses can't drop more than a few hundred off your total.

I can tell you how to beat this game in four sentences:

1. Go left all the time.

2. Kill everything (don't worry, there aren't enough enemies to gang up on you.

3. When you finish the level, it will tell you if you missed anything. Just go back, and do the level over (gaining more gold and health power ups in the bargain).

4. Try and stay awake.

There are a few good points- the way you go into each level is less linear than the arcade version for example- but not enough to make up for the serious lack of challenge.

If You've Got Time To Kill, Then I Recommend This Game!

Like I said, if you've got a whole lot of time, then plug Gauntlet Legends into your consol and play till the cows come home - literally. This game is very long, but very worth it. The graphics are great, and the "addictiveness" rates highly on my scale. I usually don't fancy these adventure games at all, in fact, I didn't want to play this game when my friend first offered, but the second I started killing stuff that instinct deep withing me kicked in, and I could hardly stop playing. Once again, you need time, money, and the craving to kill stuff if you truly want to play GAUNTLET LEGENDS.

A great game!

I am fairly new to the video game scene. Before a few months ago, I hadn't played a video game in well over ten years. So when I recently received a Playstation, I was thrilled to learn that one of my favorite Arcade games (Gauntlet Legends)from my youth was available in a new updated form. Before I purchased it I read reviews all over the net to get a feel for it. The majority of the reviews I read claimed it was only a so-so game, but I bought it anyway. Needlesstosay, I love it! Though there are obvious changes from the old arcade version, this new version has everything I was looking for in a game. There might be some aspects that can be improved, but I don't have any major complaints. Some say it's repetitive, but I like that. Besides, the enemies and scenery change, and there are many challenges to face. In case anyone forgot, the old (and new) arcade versions were highly repetitive too! I absolutley love this game and recommend it to anyone looking to simply shoot a bunch of stuff. A great game!

Not as great as the arcade...but still not tooo bad

While the arcade game is completely awesome and addicting, the Play station version isn't half bad. Really, who ever thinks that a game made for the arcade will be as great at home as it was in the arcade has some serious problems. As far as i've noticed (with out beating the whole game, which should happen later today) there are only a few problems. One is that of course you only can have 2 players instead of 4, and another is that it seems to easy. Where in the arcade you'd be sweating and grabbing more quarters, in this game you may think "well i dunno" and then still end up winning. it lacks any serious competition for the player. but if you want a way to numb your mind for a few hours, and aren't to picky about perfect graphics or brain beating competition, this game isn't a bad way to go.
