Great, for its time.

This game has all the bases for a good RTS. Base control, construction, varied troops and attacks. Depending on your tactics, it can be a one sided fight with zero effort. But an overall good RTS.

It was a great gift for my grandson!

My grandson loves the Dune tale & games. He has been playing this ever since I gave it to him for his birthday!

Not the best but still fun.

every one i know say this game is crap but i think it is quite good because you dont offen get to command armys that are bigger than the base you origionally built!!! strategy games are my favorite types, like the command and conquer series which were ace and still are. You also have the opportunity to steal buildings and nick their technology.
i also enjoy battering the ai twats and putting their troops in a kind of death camp. oh yeah that reminds me i have tip to get rid of harvesters here it is:
(you need to be ordos team for this)
1) build a mcv and build it in a desolate area
2) build a repair pad next to it
3) build set of conrete (the largest set)
4) then build missile turrets all the way round but leave one gap for an harvester to enter.
5) get a deviator and steal a ai harvester quickly get a carryall to send it to the repair pad near your 'death camp'
6) when it has arrived send it in to the middle of the turrets and close the gap with a wall so when it turns back it cant escape.
7) when it has been destroyed delete the wall and repeat the sequence over and over till they have no cash to buy with
Then launch a massive assault on their base

remember to keep the deviator safe from the enemy.

If you liked Dune, You'll love Dune 2000

I fell in love with Dune for the ol' Sega. So when I saw Dune 2000 hidden in the back of some discount games I was browsing through, I impulse purchased. Dune 2000 ups the original, as to be expected. (It's not 16-bit anymore!) Better graphics, although not what one would expect, more scenerios, and some pretty neat video segways (even that proffesor from Sliders as the Atredies mentat!) are plusses. The menus can be daunting at first or when in a rush, however. I've spent many a late night plotting the downfall of each of the three houses. If you enjoyed Dune II, buy Dune 2000.

Fantastic

The Dune chronicles come alive on video? Well.... not really, but the game is solid and fun. This game is very similar to Command and Conquer with some improvements. As with C&C there is a story line to follow between missions which has some relavence to the books and worms will eat you troops.

Westwood Can do better! I've seen it!

Don't get me wrong, I like this game. In fact I have it on the PC where it has much better graphics. The playstation version is alright but nothing special Westwood did the bare minimum. It will hold your attention if you have the patience. I just feel that it was a half effort by Westwood (Company that made this title) . I hope Westwood does not try this again with say, Tieberian Sun. Do it right the first time the way I know you can or do not do it at all. Also, multiplayer on Playstation two would be nice.

There are better

Not wanting to get too much into the nuts and bolts of the game, I found the graphics a bit bland, and distinguishing between the different units quite difficult. To put it simply, if this is your sort of game, get Command & Conquer Retaliation (by the same company) - it is better in nearly all areas.

Funtastic!

Having read the series of Dune books and playing the SEGA version of Dune, I have found Dune 2000 to be more fun than ever. The graphics are improved over the SEGA version, however not quite 3D. As you conquer more of the planet, the level of play is increasingly more difficult and you are constantly fighting to survive. The upper levels for each House can easily consume an entire day. Dune 2000 is a simpler startegy game in that you have to consider your priorities on what to construct in order to survive the impending onslaught of the opposing houses. Controls are simple to operate and learn. The only drawback that I see is that you cannot save in the middle of a level. You must complete whatever level you are on before you can save the game. Despite this slight drawback it is a very fun game and easily playable.
