This game is not worth the time.

Although the computer version of the series Command & Conquer (C&C) is definitely worth playing the playstation equivalent is not. This is most obvious in C&C Red Alert Retaliation. For anyone that has ever played any of the C&C Red Alert on computer, the new units aren't any good. The nuke truck can be easily blown up killing only infantry and power plants, the mad tank takes too long to fire its shockwave and is lightly armored so it is also easy to blow up, and tesla tank is only good against infantry leaving it vunerable to tanks. For those of you who haven't played C&C Red Alert on computer. This game is by far lame. You are not allowed to save in the middle of a mission, the mission starts over when you load it. Also it is annoying to play with a playstation controller because it doesn't provide the same control as a mouse. This is not a game to get anyone. Get them the computer version it is much better.

This game sucks. The game play is bad, the graphics are bad, the game is all around bad. You don't want to play this game. Find another one.

when i first got this game i was so excited and ran to my playstation and started to play it. the game had excellent music and a VERY WIDE selection of levels and arens. this game has almost no diffrence bettween red alert command and conquer. the only real diffrence is the new units. even that is not much. they have a tesla tank, M.A.D tank and a shock tropper, i will start with the tesla tank. the tesla tank is a nice wepoon to have but it is not that good for attacks. they are really a defense wepon for attacking men. the M.A.D tank is a tank that sends shock waves out to destroy building but not men. it does this by self destructing. it is a good wepon to send in and let is blow up a lot of junk and then send all you men in. now here is the shock tropper. he is a nice attacking unit. it costs $800 dollars and is worth the price. they can not be ran over so that is real helpful. they can easily take out a building with out many casulties. this game is over all pretty good but the graphics are pretty nice but not as good as computer. the computer version has couple of diffrend levels and has a pretty nice plot.(the computer game of command and conquer red alert retaliaton is is the expansion pack for command and conquer red alert: command and conquer aftermath) if you dont have very fast computer then you should get this for playstaion.

Two-Player Fun

The main identifiable reason to buy "Command and Conquer: Red Alert, Retaliation" is that playing this game is like playing "electronic 'Battleship'" because of the 2-player mode, but much better because, unlike that game, there is virtually no element of luck in this game. This game's not boring like "Battle Ship": it works completely.

For 2-player mode, you need ONLY ONE copy of this game because it already comes with two discs for you and your competitor. You need two TVs, two PlayStation console units, and two joysticks of any style. Unlike many other PlayStation game titles, you need no memory card to set up a quick competition between you and your friend. However, you also need one link cable to play in its great 2-player mode. Because of this requirement, the model of your two PlayStations must have serial ports.

Some models of the PlayStation do not have serial ports. Sony excluded serial ports from later PlayStation models like the "Dual Shock" and "PSOne" editions, because games rarely used those ports. Furthering the infrequency, the games using the ports by link cable allowing two people to play together with two TVs and two consoles via this link cable connection meant having two on-hand copies of a game. Since most PlayStation owners usually do not have the co-incidence of owning the same game titles as their friends, I imagine hardly anyone thought of buying a link cable. Thanks to the developing software studio and distributor, "Retaliation" already includes the required two discs for playing the game in conjuction with a link cable.

To use "Retaliation" in 2-player mode, simply connect two consoles with Sony's link cable via the serial bus ports. Plug each console into separate TVs, but face the TVs away from each other, so each player can keep his tactics secret from the other person. Then, put each game disc into each console and start them. Enter the "Link Game" section: this is the section where two players with linked consoles can play a skirmish game. Then, start them.

"Command and Conquer: Red Alert Retaliation" is great fun for two buddies, and it has over a hundred "Skirmish" maps to play. Its previous edition, "Command and Conquer: Red Alert" has less than 20 "Skirmish" maps, so shoot for the "Retaliation" title.

You and your friend can play a "Link Game" cooperatively against two computer players, or the two of you can play every man (or computer player) for himself (itself.) If you do not wish to play with a friend, you can always play the "Skirmish" mode against up to three computer opponents.

You do not need a link cable to play a "Skirmish" against only computer opponents. However, if you have the linked set-up and your friend does not want to play, he can instead observe your match against computer players using the non-player console, the map unshrouded.

War in your own home

If real-time war gaming is your thing, then this is your game. Truly addictive, it is also one of the best games to play with someone else through the link cable. It involves elements of financial & resource management, as well as military strategies and tactics. Control individual soldiers, tanks, ships, and aircraft - build factories, barracks, gun turrets and missile silos. All this and more - by far the best game Westwood Studios has transferred to Playstation - in fact, the best game by far in this genre

A game for those who don't play games.

Command and Conquer Red Alert Retaliation is the only game I can play every second of every year and never get tired of playing it. I ordered this game from amazon because I knew I could depend on it being here in one peice and this game is impossible to find, yet Amazon has everything.
When I purchased it, I had a special reason, I was off work for a week and all my roomates worked until 6:00, so I had all day in my house with no cable, car or phone, or even internet, so I knew this game would keep me company and happy. I have never been so exited about a game and I would never write a review on anything that didn't deserve it. Educational and so much fun, this war game is the top out of all games ever written. If you want something so many people have played but got caught up in the new scene of video games, than you need to come back to the good stuff.

If you know anyone with a playstation, this is the perfect gift! You'll never get tired of it because each game is different. Very exciting real-time challenge with free choice of strategy. And at Amazon's price, buy one for yourself too.
