An underrated classic, from the makers of Metal Gear Solid

9 out of 10 people will probably see this, and pass it up as another cheap RPG, for one thing you only have 1 dungeon (gasp) when you leve you level back down to 1 (GAsp), and you capture monster just like in Pokemon (GASP). No it's not a compelation of rip off's, this is a classic that is highly addicting, and incredibly fun, if given a chance.
The story revolves around a young lad (you name) who on his fifteenth birthday is given the opportunity to become a hunter and explore the depths of the Monster Tower to retrieve riches, however to do so he must not only survive, but grow as a trainer and as a man. In comes the Kewe, the monster you will likely use for a majority of the game. He is a fire type (there are only three types) and he is your brief tutorial, and key to success early on.
... YOu also must build up your respect to the townsfolk, to do this you must enlarge certain places (Temple, Hospital) and build new things (Library, Gym, Casino, Race Track, Bowling Alley ect..) and the town will grow to respect you.
Now as for the tower it'self, there are 40 floors, everytime you leave you go back down to level 1. No it's not immpossible for two reasons.
A) Your monsters level stays the same when you leave, this is due to the fact that they are more like equipment.
B) Weapons and armors stay the same, when a red or blue sand is used your weapons and armor grow more powerful, so technically you can easily dominate the first few levels without you monsters assistance.
Overall this game is tricky, you will die the first few times (lose all your items except monsters) but once they are strong enough you can succeed. There are 40 randomly changeing floors and they get more and more difficult as you go along. YOu must adjust your mosnters accordingly by class.

Fire beats Wind, Water beats Fire, Wind Beats Water.
I would buy this for the challenge it possess, guarennteed addiction.

This game, for all that it was, was fun, exciting and enjoyable. While some aspects of it are repetative, it is fun, and I had a blast.

You are a monster tamer, in the tradition of your father. You must make your way deeper and deeper into the mysterious tower near town, to find fortune and achieve your destiny. Each trip into the tower puts you at the beginning -- but your animals retain their skills. You also can keep weapons and other items you find, but if you die, they are lost.

It is at least worth a rental if not a buy. I give it five stars because it kept me very entertained, and I have been disenchanted with most of the SquareSoft games lately. This really picked my spirits up. If you don't mind a bit of repetition, you might not find this so bad.

You are also given quests to find objects in the tower, as well as the opportunity to build up and improve almost every building in your village. Perhaps the best, and most amusing part, is how several women vie for your attentions, and you have to find the particular way to make them fall for you.

Not necessarily replayable, but great for at least a test drive.

Azure Dreams is a great game that provides a great many hours of fun. You play the part of a monster trainer that has just reached the age requirement to enter the legendary Monster Tower. Find monster eggs, hatch them, and raise an army of monsters you can use in battle and combine to create even more powerful breeds. Find your way through the mysterious 40 floor Monster Tower; no trip through there is ever quite the same. Explore and improve your hometown with the wealth you get in the tower. There is so much to do in this game that you'll be entertained for a very long time.

A great game for RPG players.

This is a great game if your looking for a game that is tough to beat if you beat all your games quite fast. I have been playing this game for about 126 hours 56 minutes 37 seconds of playing time and i havent beat it yet. I have only made it to the thirtieth floor and I die really fast. This game is very intriguing and challenging if you dont use the cheats like infinate life and money. It is fun because you have to build up your city and train you monsters. Sometimes this gets annoying because I have a creature called a Picket and he is really stupid because he always runs off and kills himself. but once you get to the 20th floor, you want to run away or you Kewne or whatever will die. This game is a big struggle at first because you get clobbered on the 3 floor so you should escape from the tower or you will lose all your items that you worked so hard for. I had to restart the game 5 times just to get a good start. Sometimes I died on the second floor when I just started the game so I tried to do the first floor and Kewne died in a couple of hits. so I restarted again and tried the same thing over again, but I died on the second floor again and i did that 5 times then i got the game started so i could slowly advance the floors in the tower. The graphics are bad but when you play the game a lot, you will get used to them. The music I thought was OK but sometimes it got annoying. I like expanding Koh's house so you can put lots of stuff in it like a TV, lights, washing machines, a weird glob and it is fun to find where the safe is hidden, and to put all your stuff in it. I like to take in lots of familiars or else you might lose on the 15 floor. I like it since it takes me 2 hours to do 15 floors. I like the random floor changings because you might have a floor that is one gigantic room or a pee-wee floor with 2 rooms and a small hallway. I like to fuse creatures because you can have a worthless pulunpa that can turn into a good pulunpa that can heal you.

This game was very frusterating to begin with, because the system of building up levels made it feel like you were accomplishing nothing. Not to mention, with all the RPG's out there, that having only the tower and the town to explore, it felt limited. Each trip into the tower becomes exciting, seeing what new items or monsters you might find, and even more anticipation to see what you can influence in the town. There is quite a bit of drama and amusing things going on all around you, constantly changing so it doesn't go stale. Just don't get frustrated it if appears like you aren't getting anywhere! Everyone dies at least 20 times in the Tower, you're not playing it poorly, it's just part of the game. Don't be afraid to bail out using a wind crystal when you get the chance.

Azure Dreams is a great game that's suitable for any RPG lover. While at first I thought it was going to be some stupid Pokemon clone, it turned out to be something totally different. If you can look past the below-average graphics, you will see a very fun and addictive game. What really hooked me was that you can build up the town and furnish your house. If you're looking for a Harvest Moon kind of game with some action, this is the game for you. Azure Dreams is a great game with near-infinite replayability and forgivable graphics. Have fun, it's worth your time! ^.^

To start, i rented this game cause their was nothin else to get and i was hooked right away! I got a huge fine for not returning it. I finally own it now and all i can say is it is a great game. You start with nothing and enter the tower. you should find a weapon soon but it wont be to good. you continue going through the tower getting money and rare items. it is full of subquests. you get to go out with 7 different girls; at the same time! and take them to the pool. hehehe. and you can build your town into a big city with monster races and a casino. it has great replayability. i have been playing for 127 hours and still counting. dont play this game if you dont plan on buying it because you WILL get hooked!

When I first picked up this game, I didn't think much of it, because it was extremly frustrating. Once I got to playing it more often the more adicting it became. I like the factors of building up your city, dating people, and the roll play. Your man may start at level one every time, but your familar dosn't. And tell you the truth people, you arn't realy supose to do the fighting, your familar is. It takes alot of time to level up, but that is half the battle, and lots of fun. What is even better is the supense of getting to a new floor, and there being a speical item. It you are looking for something new, different, and a twist from rollplay and simulation - This is it!

You play a smart - arse.But girls seem attracted to you.WOW!

This game is the greatest.Sure graphics are a bit edgy you could even call them crap but I personally looked beyond all that.You play the son of the greatest ever monster tamer in Monsaibya but he has past away and left the family poor.(limey barsted!)So the son wants to forfill his wish and take over his dads reputation.So when he turns 15(which is an adult)you are finally allowed in the monster tower.This quirky game is quite difficult as there are over 25 levels and heaps of monsters you and your familiars must defeat.But its still the best.When your back in your home town you can flirt with girls and fight with your 'enemy' Ghosh.You can also help out other people in the town by doing them favours.And gain respect by paying to put up various buildings.I LOVE IT AND SO WILL YOU.8.1/2 out of 10.

This game is great! You start as a young monster tamer in the city of Monsibya. One of the down sides is that every time you enter the tower you start at level 1. Also, you can only bring 5 items into the tower. You start with kewne, a fire type. You find items in the tower that can change the type to water or wind. Water beats fire, wind beats water, and fire beats wind. Basically, you find demon eggs and other treasures that you can ONLY keep if you survive, and you can sell them to make a few renovations to the town and your house. The renovations will provide extra activities (You'll find out what later). The priest will suggest what to build. In conclusion, that it is a game that you will enjoy.
