i saw the review given to this game by a few others and it is totally obvious that they must not play this game in head to head action. i'll admit on the one player mode it's lacking in total play action, but in head to head action this is a totally rewarding game. theres enough fighting combinations to keep you going at it, but not two-billion button combinations to forget as soon as you pick a new player. buy it-----you'll love it.

Your first strike wins the crowd, your final strike wins the battle! As a fight promoter for a troop of Kabuki Warriors trying to travel from Edo to Ktoto, your actor/samurai must possess both strength and style. Along the way you will have to fight other Kabuki troops, garner the crowds favor to recieve tips, and trade warriors with your defeated counterparts. You will need a very accomplished group of samurai when you arrive in Kyoto to defeat the city's star troop. Fight warriors in winner take-all competitions, on stage across Japan. Pummel opponents and strike dramatic poses to gain the crowd's favor. Twenty-Four characters, with different weapons and unique attacks like fireballs, fire storms, lightning, and tornadoes. I urge you to rent this game before you buy.

Words can not express how horrible Kabuki Warriors is, in all aspects. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. If you get it for free, use it as a coaster or frisbee... that is, assuming you don't immediately dump Kabuki Warriors into the trash. Stay away! Direct people away with a big sign if you have to! DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!
Don't judge this game by its first impression-

Ok, let's get to the point. This game doesn't even come close to games like DOA3 or VF4. However, if you are just throwing away your controller down after playing the first match, then you are not really looking into this game deeply enough.
Ok, let's say if I were on a blinddate and my date is this really ugly girl- what should I do? Should I just tell her that she's fat and ugly and I have no interest whatsoever so have a nice day? Or should I at least see if she has a good personality? If you were on a blinddate with one thing in mind, to have a steamy date with a hot babe- then it's unfortunate that you met this ugly girl. However, if you don't mind the outer appearance and are looking for something substantial, then give yourself some time and you will see she's not that bad after all. Not bad after all.
Of course, DOA3 is way hotter than Kabuki Warrior, however, if you spend some 'QUALITY' time with Kabuki Warrior, you will see that she got something to share with you. If you have played the game through the end and HAVE PLAYED THE VERSUS WITH FRIENDS, KNOWING ALL THE MOVES, COMBOS(you are asking me COMBOS?? YES, BELIEVE ME, THERE'S SEVERAL COMBOS YOU CAN DO IN THIS GAME, SURPRISED?), THIS GAME IS TIGHT WHEN IT COMES TO GAME PLAY, REALLY.
You know, Niki was a really hot girl, yet she was high-maintanence(expensive) and arrogant(ok, because of her implant), didn't last that long with her.
However, with Martha, to whom I felt very comfortable with(look at the price!), gave me more of what I really wanted, gameplay, afterall.
If you are looking for a 2D game for XBOX and looking for something simple enough yet gets deeper to play with your kids, this would be an excellent choice. Please, don't judge this game with 1 min. of your playing time.
GET TO KNOW HER, MAN!

Yes, this game has been bashed to death by the gaming press, but believe it or not, some people will actually enjoy this bargain-priced game IF they give it a chance and cast away all the negative comments made by the press.
What we have here is a 2D fighter on the XBOX with some remarkable realistic graphics and movements. The animation and movements of the fighters is almost lifelike, and the power of the XBOX is utilized in ways to make fabric move convincingly and so on. It's amazing that 2D fight fans will salivate over a new 16-bit Neo Geo fighter (beleive it or not, they are still releasing games for that system!) yet will completely overlook Kabuki Warriors. The backgrounds are nice too with some clean 3D polygonal effects thrown in for good measure. Any problems so far? Yes. There seems to be too many variations of just one character and you won't see any of the more spectacular ones until later in the game. The default character that you'll see more often than not is just a boring guy painted in a shade of white who fights with chinese stick weapons. Also, the backgrounds are kinda boring...but this is intended as Kabuki is a type of stage art very popular in Japan.
The game consists of a tour mode and a time attck mode. The tour mode is cool in that you need to earn money to progress to the goal. You earn money by quick, clean victories and for posing and winning the crowd during the fight. After a fight you can trade one fighter to get the best mix of weapon and styles for the fight ahead. The game really picks up when you get some of the characters who fight with the various swords...some insane fun can be had with the usual combos and air juggles you can pull off with these guys!
How does it play? Imagine Killer Instinct-style gameplay where moves and combos can be strung together with simple button presses. Persevere and learn the combo system and you have yourself a competent fighting game. If you just mash the buttons and jump around hoping for random victories, then you'll get less out of this game.
The bottomline: If you enjoy 2D fighting games and you like learning the combo and timing system, then this is definitely a reasonably priced game for you. If you prefer your fighters in 3D, hate fighters or are one of those people who just mash buttons and "hope for the best", then forget it. Get Dead Or ALive 3 instead.

Okay, Kabuki is a type of Japanese theater, but it's NOT "based around a style of Asian theater where the actors used to actually hurt each other on stage" - that would be (...) kids emulating WWF.
This game is probably the single worst fighting game that has ever been released. It shouldn't have been released ANYWHERE. (...)
