Change Of Heart, This will take a while..........

I must admit that at first I gave this game some tough criticism.
I mentioned that this game had limited selection and repeats(OLD) titles meaning those already released on the previous three volumes.
Well at first it does. You get Fire (old),Donkey Kong Jr. (old)Boxing (new),Rainshower (new,)Donkey Kong 3 (new),and Mario's Cement Factory (new). Then you have to earn points to gain stars to open up hidden games like Chef (old),Mario Bros (old),Donkey Kong (old),Octopus (old) and Fire Attack (new). Well after playing for days and hours gaining 160 stars I've discovered that you can also play the following games in classic mode only.
Manhole,Tropical Fish,Marios Bombs Away,Parachute,Bombsweeper, Climber,Safebuster,Life-Boat, and Zelda.
If you consider the fact that the first 12 games can be played in classic and modern mode thats 24 games plus the 9 classic mode games (33). It works out to be about 90 cents per game.

Here's an overview of what you have to do to unlock games.

As you gain more Stars, you can unlock Chef, Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, Octopus, and Fire Attack (in that order) for classic and modern game play.

Gallery Corner Museum:
60 Stars are needed to unlock the nine titles for display only (not actual game play). They are, in order of appearance: Manhole, Tropical Fish, Mario's Bombs Away, Parachute, Bombsweeper, Climber, Safebuster, Lifeboat, Zelda.

Star features:
The more stars you gain, the more features you will unlock. Note: Museum games are classic play only. You do not earn any Stars for the games in the museum.

5: Chef
10: Manhole (View only)
15: Tropical Fish (View)
20: Mario Bros.
25: Mario's Bombs Away (View)
30: Parachute (View)
35: Donkey Kong
40: Bombsweeper (View)
45: Climber (View)
50: Octopus
55: Lifeboat (View)
60: Zelda (View)
65: Fire Attack
70: G&W History (Gallery Corner Feature)
80: Manhole (Classic Play)

90: Tropical Fish (Play)
100: Mario's Bombs Away (Play)
110: Parachute (Play)
120: Bombsweeper (Play)
130: Climber (Play)
140: Safebuster (Play)
150: Lifeboat (Play)
160: Zelda (Play)

I gave this game 4 stars instead of 5 only because it takes hard work and patience to play a game for so long. But for Nostalgic Gamers from the 1980's I guess it's well worth the effort.

You can wake up now :-)

Awesome old school fun! 20 games in 1!

Game & Watch games are the ancestors of all video games. They were extremely popular in the early 1980s. The graphics were simple, clear, and aesthetic. Most importantly, the game play is fast, fun, and exciting. To the younger generation gamers, these games might seem stupid but they are not. I have all 3 previous gallery games and this is the BEST!

You start with 6 games: Fire, boxing, rain shower, Mario's cement factory, donkey kong jr, and donkey kong 3. As you get higher and higher scores for each game you get more games! You can unlock: Chef, Mario bros, donkey kong, octopus, and fire attack. All the games are replicated exactly like the original LCD hand-helds, the "clear colored background sheets" are beautifully recreated by the GBA. Then there is a modern version for each game, the graphics are updated, famous nintendo characters are used, the movements smooth rather than "spot to spot", and for most part the game play remains similar. Then you can unlock 9 more games but they can only be played in classic mode: Manhole, tropical fish, Mario's bombs away, parachute, bomb sweeper, climber, safebuster, life boat, and zelda. Mario's bombs away is a great game and the orignal hand-held was cool and worked like a projection tv with glowing colors. The "time keepers/alarm ring holders" are eliminated, it would be nice if they were kept for cool visual purposes. For the double screen games such as donkey kong, one screen is shrunk down and you can toggle between the two screens, Nintendo messed up here a bit but you can't really blame them...

This is a must have for all old school gamers. Its also a great chance to play and cherish other game & watch games you always wanted to play or own but didn't because you can't afford them all back in the days.

I urge younger generation gamers to give this a try. The gameplay is very simple, logical, fast, and yet challenging.

I want to thank Nintendo for making this game! Another one would be nice, gallery 5?! There are plenty of other great game & watch games such as Donald & Mickey and Popeye. Other games from gallery 1, 2, and 3 should be made into GBA format like the 4. Some of them are: Egg/Mickey mouse, oil panic, green house, and snoopy. Overall this game is totally awesome, a must buy.

CLASSIC!

Ok, it's true this is all based on old material, you can read "basic" material. But it doesn't mean it's not good. As the GBA is portable, those games fit perfectly to be played anywhere and no matter how long you can play. If, as me, it's your first Game & Watch Gallery title and you have money, go ahead. If not, just keep playing on your olds titles for there is some games on GWG 4 you can find on GWG 1-2-3.

Excellent, Worth It, and Old School Fun!

Oh man, does this take me back. I loved Game & Watch games. We'd play them until the battery would run out, and sadly, that's when we stopped playing the game (I think we were too lazy to figure out how to change the battery).

This has several different G&W games to start out with: Boxing, Fire, Rainshower, Mario's Cement Factory, Donkey Kong Jr., Donkey Kong 3. Each classic game is paired with a modern version of the game in question. Every 200 points earned in a game earns a star (with the exception of Boxing, where you earn a star every 3 KOs). Collecting stars opens up more games for you to play such as Chef (the only game I've opened so far). There are also more games available in the Museum that you can unlock as well, making G&W 4 a freaking bargin and great time waster for old school G&W players like myself.

AWESOME GAME!!!

I currently own all three game and watch games. I enjoyed playing the classic games that our generation (those born around 1986,87,88,or 89) never played or heard of before. All three game and watch games for the game boy and game boy color were great, except ball, which was not sooo great. Anyhow, when i first heard about Game and Watch gallery 4 coming out for the game boy advance, i got excited and i wondered what new games would be in it. When i read one of the reviews that were written for this game, and saw that it was mostly repeats, i was shocked and i decided not to buy it. I mean at that point, what's the use of spending [$$] on a game that has games from Game and watch gallery 1,2 and 3. Just a few days back, i read the new reviews written for this game and it turned out i was mistaken. there are a total of 20 games in game and watch gallery 4. 12 new never before played games, and 8 old games from the previous three game and watch games. well its up to ya peoples to figure out what they are, dont wana spoil the surprise, so i aint gonna go in depth. I thought about it, and decided i should buy it. i mean more than half the game is new, so why shouldn't i buy it. so anyway, i saw some pictures of the game, and the graphics were awesome. i haven't played the game yet, so i expect one of you peoples to write about how the controls and sound were. Well, that's all i've got to say. i'll write more about this game when i get it and play it. then i will give ya peoples my final opinion. until then smell ya lata!!!!

Donkey Kong Jr. looks, sounds, and plays fantastic. Along with the other games, all the details have been captured perfectly within the miniature Gameboy screen. Plus, there are extra games to be unlocked (including the original Donkey Kong) making this a great deal and lots of fun for retro gamers.

I don't own this game, but i have played it before and I'd say a 4 out of 5 stars, sure you start out as easy but as you advance,u unlock more games new and old and harder settings such as meduim, hard and if you think you can handle it,super hard...yes there are four settings instead of one.

I personally love the little sounds and music this game has to offer, and a game gets harder as you progress.

If you think this game is for kiddies...then I'd have to say your wrong ;)

Nice for those little breaks...

So I brought my gameboy with me to work (not quite with me, I left it in the car cause it'd would get RUINED at my job!) and then lunch break comes along and there is one thing on my mind, f'ing FIRE FIGHT (THERE WAS A FIRE FIGHHHHHTTTT!!!). Instead of blowing my limited funds on Taco Bell or eating some crappy sandwich I made the night before, I spent 50 minutes (lunch breaks are only supposed to be 30 minutes) playing Fire Fight in my car and ladies and gentlemen, it was... AWESOME! I have never been more involved in a game, IN MY LIFE. I'm saying I was hooting and hollering as I played this, on time I was sure one of those little dudes were going to burn my fort, but I bonked him on the head in the nick of time and I freaked out! I felt good, real good. Classic Fire Fight, is quite an expierence. Anyways, this game is awesome, besides having all the good stuff you can get a ton of classic games, the only bummer is your going to have to work hard to get it. 160 stars is in all actuality 32,000 points (and only up to 4,000 points per game) I'm no mathematician, but (these are based on your high scores alone mind you, they are not cumulative) at two points a pop for every sort of task you do, it's going to take a long time to get all the games. That's a bummer and Octopus is THE HARDEST MOST FRUSTERATING game ever invented. I've almost smashed that damn gameboy into pieces over that game! It's a keeper through and through!
