Having owned and loved the entire series in computer format, I was excited when I heard Sims2-Pets for the Wii was alot like them. The gameplay and storyline ARE very similar. However, the controls are difficult to figure out, and even harder to master. You have to concentrate so much on hitting different combinations of buttons to preform even simple functions that your interest in the story is pretty much lost. I really wanted to love this game, but the poor controls make playing feel like work.

I've played a few Sim games before and this has got to be one of the best sim games if you love pets. I love how you can create a family and have pets included. It is a little hard controlling both your sims and your pets needs but it is still great.
You can't command your pet to do what you want, but you can control your sims like any other sims games. The beginning is a little tough because I was trying to adjust myself to the new addition with the pets.
It makes it a lot easier that you don't have to play mini games to earn money from your job but at the same time it does take some fun away from the game.
All in all, this is a solid game for anyone who is into Sims and pets.
--Glitches--
There were a few glitches in the game as far as moving some objects and placing them around the house. For instance when I was trying to put my dog bowl somewhere in the house the screen would go berserk and I wouldn't be able to move anywhere. The only way to get out of the glitch was to get out of the "grab" menu and select one of my sims. It's an awful glitch but it's very uncommon.
Horrible!

This is the worst game I have ever played. I never tried any of the SIMS games before, and after someone recommended this one to my husband, he bought it for me. It was on sale for 14.99. I was never interested in this game so If it hadnt been on sale I would have returned it to the store. So...I tried playing this game and the SIMS dont even speak English?? I dont know what they are saying! There are no instructions other then how to make your characters and what your SIMS need. I found it very difficult to understand what to do. I went into the town and got stuck there for 1 hour, literaly! The character went into the bathroom every minute. This game is extemely boring and very annoying. Dont buy this unless you speak Russian and have a very boring life!
A great addition to the Wii!!

I have had quite a few different "Sims" games for different platforms. Fans of the original PC game just want to be able to play the same old game, just on a different system. Unfortunately, most non-PC "Sims" games don't have the same feel, making them different games entirely. I had the Sims 2 Pets game for the Nintendo DS and that was a complete disappointment. So when I got the Sims 2 Pets game for the Wii on my birthday, I shuddered at the thought of someone spending $30 on a game that is just going to be as horrid as the DS version. Turns out, I was wrong.
Actually, this game is very much like the original PC version only with a couple of differences. Let's talk about the positives first. Ok, so what's this game about anyway? It's just like the first Sims game only you have pets to take care of. As usual, you can customize your Sims and you can also customize your pet just the way you like it. And, of course, you can customize your house the way you like it as well.
With just a press of a button, you can see your Sims needs, relationships, and wants. If you've played the Sims 2 games for PS2 or Gamecube, you'll know that these particular games have specific wants they want to accomplish (for example, your Sim may want to earn a skill point or make 50 simoleans). The Sims 2 Pets game shows 5 wants for your Sim and even your pet's wants (for example, learn a trick or make a litter). Although you can't directly control your pets, you can see their wants and needs.
And of course, you need a job in order to buy things for you and your pets. You have to earn skill points in specific areas in order to advance in your career. In addition to career skills, you can learn how to cook, clean, and fix things. By learning how to cook, you can learn new recipes which effects your hunger in different ways.
Probably the best part of this game is the Town Square. When you want to go there, you click on an arrow on the sidewalk to leave your house and travel to the Town Square. Here, you can shop (using points that you accumulate by doing different things with your pet), buy and sell pets, play with other animals, and so much more.
And now for the negatives. Probably the most important one is the fact that Sims are unable to have children. I personally don't find this to be a problem because I like the idea that Sims can take care of pets rather than children but I know this will be a turn off for other people. HOWEVER, you CAN have your pets breed to have kittens and puppies. Second, the camera controls can take a little bit to get used to. Sometimes you have to use two buttons just to be able to see a particular room. Not a huge deal but I thought I'd just point it out.
For those who are not interested in the game because of the unability to have children, be sure to TRY the game before writing it off as bad. I highly recommend it.
