I first found this game on a pc mag cd demo and it was an instant delight so i raced to K-mart and got a copi. It is just my type of game, Bulding cities and watching them grow into empires, that depends on how well you manage and plan out your first city. The single and most hardest thing about this game that i have found is planning out the layout of your city to the terrain. once you have mastered this you will be fine. This game has trapped my mind. its all i think about where ever i am and its like this with my friends. The 1 thing i like most about this game is the History stepping back in time i love it. I could go on for ever you just have to experience this game for yourself. Its a golden oldie 5 stars
please any1 out there wiht the same thoughts on this game i would love to share some secrets of help you out. my email address is raspberryfish@hotmail.com and i have got MSN messenger!
General consensus proves to be true yet again *sigh*

I bought this game because of the recommendation provided by John Harrison, the reviewer who wrote in on March 13, 2000. While it has proven to be fun, there are a few drawbacks to this game. Chief among them is that after a few hours of play, I find my colony running out of money frequently & cannot figure out how to resolve the situation. Secondly, the manual is way too vague on how to increase the workload and production levels of workshops which lag behind (that's what the "question-mark" symbol means). If the programmers at Infogrames could resolve these two issues in the next edition (or a sequel, perhaps?) they would have a sure winner on their hands! As it stands now, though, these two difficulties make an otherwise great game unnecessarily complex.

I don't know how many of you have played Colonization, but it's almost like an advanced version of that game. While the idea of the game is exciting, game play is very difficult. The AI competition is too hard to handle while you're trying to deal with the complex stucture of running your colony. It's just an average game. I wouldn't consider bad or good, but I havn't played for a while now (if that says anything).

wene i purchased this game it took me a while to figure it out but when i did and mastered it it wasnt any fun although i may not have purchased ceasar 3 or civilization i have purchased two of the age of empires games .The game is just boring after youve beaten it once or twice and it gets worse after a while i figured out how to build an empire i tried the scenerio builder and it was fun somewhat but not my kind of game so if you like batles and blood this is not the game for you please save your money.

Most women my age don't play computer games, but 1602 AD can keep me glued to the monitor for hours. This edition comes without a printed manual and the tutorial leaves a lot to be desired. However, there is a downloadable manual and the company's website is helpful. The world building is fascinating and, unlike some programs, replaying even simple scenarios keeps you interested. As other reviewers have said, keep away from the volcanoes if you can, buy tools early, and watch out for pirates.

There seem to be two options. One is to start building at least one colony from scratch in an archapelago. This would be good if you're willing to play for weeks or months at a time, but it's awfully slow going. Or, you can come in at one of a number of situations. In that case you are, to varying degrees, established, but extremely difficult goals are set, and huge fleets of pirates prowl the seas in most scenarios.

I think it`s one of the best games. At least I had alot of fun playing it. It makes you forget about anything around you. Not to mention the inportant homework.... I like it because it makes you think strategic, it`s not one of those games full of monsters, wars, weapons, and the best thing is, sometime earlyer it really was like that. So, to say it short, it`s a really cheap trip into the past.
