A very graphic game not to be played in the dark.

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 3

This game is very good. The storyline is original, the gameplay is fantastic, and it teaches you a little about the voodoo religon. The only drawback is that it has a very steep learning curve to it, and younger kids probably should not come near it because they will probably have nightmares for a week.

AN ADULT ADVENTURE THAT'S NOT FOR CHILDREN!

It's about time that the good ol' folks at Nintendo allowedadults to have fun for a change. See you later Mario, Yoshi, andPrincess Peach...it's time to enter the world of real adult gaming. Definitely a cerebral game, Shadow Man will have you thinking and thinking and thinking for a long time. Beautiful graphics, great sound effects, hours of real speech, loads of puzzles, and some truly horrendous and disgusting enemies. How they manage to pack so much stuff into a cartridge is a small miracle. In any case, this game will captivate you for hours. As someone else mentioned, the learning curve on this is quite steep, so I recommend getting a hint book (trust me, you will need one). The overall atmosphere of the game is very tense, spooky, and nightmarish. Enemies jumping out of nowhere will surprise and scare you. This is not a game to be played in the dark on a stormy night. It's like playing a horror movie. On a final note, the box disclaimer is accurate: THIS GAME IS NOT FOR CHILDREN! The settings are disturbing, there is extreme violence and torture, some characters (the serial killers) are downright sadistic in their attempts to kill you, there is adult language, and the themes of death and voodoo rituals occur throughout the game. It's nice to see an intelligent game marketed to adults. Let's hope more follow.

Very Adult - Very Involved Game

DO NOT GET THIS GAME FOR YOUR KIDS. If you are an adult and enjoy playing it, it seems pretty involved and cool (but if you have a spouse, they may divorce you before you finish it - it says here it can take 70 hours - my guess is longer). Graphics are lacking to me, but it is very intense, and overall good.

Spine tingling experience

This game is one of the most intense games I've had the opportunity to play. The atmosphere is dark and gloomy and this is accompanied by horrifying sound effects. Be prepared to loose track of time when playing. This game is not for small children, I fear it would keep the little ones awake all night with nightmares. But this game is the BEST. Buy this game with no hesitation.

ONE OF MY PERSONAL FAVORITE GAMES EVER

I'm 13, what i consider to be a mature gamer for 13, and my parents are well aware of the content of this game, my father sitting down with me and watching the opening cutscene (which involves a character suicide). You play as either Mike LeRoi or Shadowman, depending if you are in liveside (real world) or deadside (hell). You do become shadowman in liveside later, but whatever... the vista engine is incredible eliminating distance fog, and even in 4MB enhanced High-Res mode, it runs smooth as silk. Character models are well put together and i just thought after the QB club titles, Turok and WWF Attitude, if there is one thing acclaim can do it is GRAPHICS. High res, smooth framerates, pile this on with hours of ingame speech and 0ver 40 cutscenes, plus 50 weapons and secrets, you will wonder how did they get this into a 32 meg cart. The sound quality is good and most of the time the voice acting is top notch (just wait for jaunty). A great change of pace from the usual baby titles on 64. BUY THIS GAME!

Ultimate Gaming Experience

This is definitely the best game that I have ever played. The story line is unbeatable as you will be immensed in the closest experience to controlling a character in a movie that has been accomplished. Excellent graphics and extremely smoth controls add to the already awe inspiring journey. You will be scared to go around the next corner and yet unable to stop without knowing just what may lay beyond. The best written game I've played.

Intense

Shadow Man starts out sort of difficult. I didn't know were to go. But once I got a hang of it the game turned into an awesome high-caliber and voodoo power extravaganza. The graphics are hard to see at times but the sound effects and music steals the show and so does the story line. The game also makes you travel into very dangerous places like an Asylum. This game isn't for the faint of heart and there is profanity, but on the other hand I really do recommend this game.

The scariest and bloodiest game since "Resident Evil"

Okay, first off for the parents, I wouldn't recommend letting your kids play this game. It is really disturbing, violent, and for more mature audiences.

Graphics: Pretty close to flawless. The mouth motion doesn't match up to what the characters are really saying. Gameplay graphics are the best part. Though, they can get pretty intense sometimes.

Overall Graphics Grade: A-

Play Control: It's sometimes hard to control the main character and it'll take you a few minutes to get used to the controls.

Overall Play Control Grade: B

Game Design: The storyline is that of a B-movie. The worlds are very well created and structured. Although, you'd probably get scared to death playing it. I told my father about the game and he was scared just hearing about it.

Overall Game Design Grade: A+

Sound: You'll play it and say, "Did I hear what I think I heard?" The sound is very realistic, from all the dialogue, gunfire, and ceatures bursting into a pool of gore, you'd think you were watching a movie.

Overall Sound Grade: A+

General Comments: Excellent game. Very disturbing and not at all for pre-teens. Be prepared for nightmares.

ESRB Rating: M containing animated violence and animated blood & gore. As I've already said, the game is very gory with much disenbowlment (excuse the spelling) and shooting. The game also contains fairly strong language.

Probably the most dark game for nintendo

Shadow Man intrigued me when I first hered about it. It sure is a different game from Mario, or Banjo Kazooi. It is deffinetly not a game for little children. Kids from the ages of 13 and above can probably handle it but it still could give them the creeps. This game contains gore (basicly monsters exploading and splattering all over the place), language that not even the South Park game had sencored, and a very disturbing and realistic plot to it, featuring all of the great downfalls of humanity such as serial killers, and gets deep into the concepts of the real world and the world of the dead. Getting back to how the game is. It is uniqe and pritty fun, graphics could be better and the monsters are kind of lame, but you can get sucked into a lot of play time. Levels and sceneries are awsome though. From the dride desert scene of the real world, to the land of the dead, asylum, and two spectacular shoot outs between cerial killers and convicts. But the regular baddies could have used some work on. Weapons are pritty neat. You get things like voodoo weapons and skull wands, plus real life weapons like pistols, machine guns, and shot guns. Overall it is a interestin and neat game. Seeing that it has gone down in pricing, I think the buy is worth it.

This is, seriously, the best game ever created

I bought this game ... and I had never played it before. Myopinion was high, however- I had heard excellent things of thisgame. I slapped it in my 64 and turned on the power. The minute it came on, I expected something awesome, epic- something I would remember. That is exactly what I got. The dialogue between the characters is well written and excellently spoken. Nothing can beat shadow man and legion's voice. They are perfect. All right, now down to the nitty gritty: The graphics are perfect- the environments are dark and creepy, just like you would imagine it looking in hell....the pools of blood and the highly detailed enemies are superbly rendered...nothing can beat shadow man's graphics. What about the sound? This aspect, my friends, is perhaps the best part of the game. Nothing, and I mean nothing in the world, can beat the noise the little two-headed ork makes...that little, throaty "mmm...yyyadow man"...ya know? ooo...that's just awesome. I am now in the temple of blood. ... I have 71 dark souls and have killed 3 serial killers. In conclusion, this is the best game ever created. It beats Zelda, it beats Goldeneye, it's just too damn cool. Buy it, seriously. Note: rated Mature, my fellows....intense and realistic violence, 'extreme' profanity and just the overall feel of the game is defenitely m rated.
