Wow this game is awesome. It has all of the old characters from MK1 to MK3. I love to play this game but one thing i dislike is why you have to unlock the very bottom characters in N64 but in playstation (WHICH I HATE!) you get all of the characters. It is fun with good non 3-D graphics. You can also change some of the characters suits. I have more reviews on MK things just look for my logo which is SMK at the bottom of each of my reviews to let you no it's me. My logo might be at the top of the review also. OUT!

MORTAL KOMBAT!!! this is the last 2D MK game, and it is freakin' awesome! this game provides intense fast paced action, wicked combos, and awesome fatalities. plus nothing says "in your face" like kicking your friends rear end in mortal kombat, this is a must have for anyone into the N64 games.
The Best MK Game!!!!

I Love this game! This game has all the classic characters! Like Sheeva, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Rain, Ermac, Kabal, Reptile, Cyrax, and many many more!! Rain, Ermac, and Kabal are my favorites. I recently went to a local CC Game store in my town looking for this game for PS1 but I really didn't need to once I found it in N64 format. You will eventually read crappy reviews on this game for N64 format but don't listen to them. If you have a N64 and you know how to use it then buy this game its a classic. They only bad thing about this game is that it is missing four characters... the most powerful I might add. You can easily get cheats to unlock them, but in the PS1 version you don't need cheats they are already there. Kahn, Goro, Motaro, and ummm... that one really big guy :)
In conclusion, Overall Great Game!
Overall: 9/10 - Overall this is a great game the only problem is that the N64 Version is missing 4 monsters.
Controls: 9/10 - The controls are great if you know how to use them.
Gameplay: 10/10 - Gameplay is great.
Characters: 9/10 - Characters are great! WIDE SELECTION
Graphics: 9/10 - Normal MK Graphics... 2D. Not grainy, just 2D.
Sound: 8/10 - Sound kinda sucks but thats MK for ya! Plus MK isn't for listening anyways.
If U like MK, This is for you

Mortal Kombat Trilogy is an awsome game. the graphics are just like the Arcade, and controls and moves are very easy to master. The only drawback in this game is the sound, which could've used a little work. So If your a MK fan, you should seriously consider buying this awsome game.

When I first heard that a game like MK Trilogy was coming out, I was ecstatic. I had been obsessed with the series since its debut and to hear that so many characters were going to be crammed into one game was music to my ears. I literally couldn't sleep the last week I had to wait for the game to be released. I bought the N64 version initially, because at the time it was the only system I had. I have to say, I still prefer this version over the PSX's, for a few reasons-
1. Larger characters- The characters on the N64 version of the game are noticably bigger (albeit granier) than on the PSX.
2. Super Sub Zero- Most people see the omission of unmasked Subzero as a problem- but the Classic Sub Zero in N64's Trilogy has been given all his moves. So, aside from Unmasked Subzero's lame fatalities, you're not really missing much.
3. Shang Tsung- This is the main reason why I like the N64 rendition over PSX. Shang Tsung has always been my favorite character because of his ability to transform into most of the other fighters found in the game- problem is, there is massive load time when transforming Shang into other characters on PSX, unless you either severely limit his ability to morph or turn it off altogether. With the N64, morphs can be pulled off instantaneously with no load time.
Of course, you can't play as bosses or as classic versions of Rayden, Kano, Jax or Kung Lao on the N64, which I guess is a bit of a minus. And I was never a fan of the MK3 "dial-a-combo" style gameplay used by Trilogy. But my biggest gripe with the game has to do with the incredibly cheap and unfair AI- mainly, the CPU's ability to run long after the run meter's been depleted. But these are pretty minor issues in the long run. I find Mortal Kombat Trilogy for the N64 to be an incredibly fun game- I've had it for 7 years and I still get a kick out of playing it.
Trilogy??? Wheres the rest of them??? This is more like MK3!

This version of the trilogy absolutly stunk to high heaven. What the hell happend??? I first brought the MK Trilogy on PC. But after I upgraded to Windows 98 the game would not install anymore, it only worked on Win 95. So I saw the playstaion version, but I never liked the PS and I saw that it was exactly the same as the PC version.. so I figured the N64 version would be just the same.... wrong!!!! There is about 20 charactors missing from the 64 version for some unknown reason. They could well have included them but for some reason this game is more like Mortal Kombat 3 with a few extra charactors.
I hope the PC version gets re-released some day. Or maybe i'll just get a PS version Rom, because MK trilogy is the best MK game ever... just not on the 64.
looking good

I've heard that the Playstation version is better, but who wants to put up with "DISC LOADING" messages in the middle of trying to execute a move in Mortal Kombat? That should be unacceptable to gamers, especially those in love with the fighting genre.
But with that aside, the N64 version is no prize, either. Another reviewer said that this game is just like Mortal Kombat 3, but in actuality this game IS Mortal Kombat 3 (just with a few extra stage settings ripped from previous MK games). I have Ultimate MK3 for the Genesis, and I need to tell you people this: It's better than this N64 version, especially because it has the tight controls that the N64 version lacks. Neither the N64 joystick nor the control pad gives you the precise control the Genesis 6-button controller offered. Its these kinds of rehashes that sunk the N64. Overall, the N64 was known for its choppy-ass 3D graphics and 2D franchise rehashes/revivals such as MK Trilogy and Mischief Makers. 'Nuff said.

same as the other one but with a few glaring differences like the graphics stink like a butt on this one.theres a lot of characters in this one.theres robots, cops, martial artists,gods.......really theres only 2 types.1-the kind that get beat down by the computer almost every time and 2-the kind you can win with all the time prettily easily through massive repition.they are lou kang, raiden and the cop.theres some male ballerina looking dude with a lot of flaming balls.......errr i mean fire balls.hes pretty good except for the whole spandex thing.its alright but 4 is way way better.im actualy suprised theyre even from the same system considering 3 looks like a sega master system game.for all you bozos out there the sega master system came out after the intellivision and before the original nintendo.oh yeah,i dont appreciate the guys who made this making shiva a chick when in fact shiva is a very powerful hindu god with enough destructive capacity in his 3rd eye to destroy existence!
This game is pretty damn fun for an oldie!

This game rocks! The funnest part of the game though is trying to figure out all the character's special moves by randomly pressing button combinations. I still dont know how to do all the moves but most most of the characters in the game have a special move where you press down and then forward + A/B at the same time. With Subzero it shoots an Iceball (DragonballZ Style) at opponet and freezes them. If you see this game around I'd buy it. It has crap loads of characters and 3 secret unlockable ones: Smoke (Human form) (Like Scorpion) Shao Kaun, and Motarro. Motarro is the coolest, he is a huge centitar and has a special move where he picks up the opponet with one arm and slams them against the floor. And another where you hold B and he spits a green energy ball at opponet. This game is very adventurous and you can set it so its not so bloody for the younger audiances or turn the blood green so they think it's snot or something.
